Homosexual Bullying

Homosexual bullying is a serious issue in society today and now it’s

affecting are schools. Homosexual teens have been beaten to the point of

death. This paper will not use the word “gay” it is a word that is used by

bullies in our schools and in society. It is a rude word. Now homosexual teens

have and almost committed suicide. Therefore, homosexual bullying should

be dealt with in our schools and in our society because as I said it’s been

brought to the point of death and its bringing homosexual teens towards

depression. And a civilized society should not tolerate bullying of any kind.

Bullying is almost like a tradition in schools to them it’s like a joke the

bully think that their victims should suck it up and deal with it it’s a part of

life, but to the victim of bullying its not funny at all. According to Brandy

Madison who wrote a blog on “LifeStyle”:”It isn't difficult to understand why

gay teens would be targeted by those disturbed individuals who are the ones

responsible for bullying others in schools. Those who bully and tease

typically target children who seem different, even in the smallest of ways. So

children who are different to a substantial degree, such as those who are gay
(along with those who are overweight, developmentally delayed, or

physically different from most children), are obviously at an even greater risk

for being bullied, teased, and tormented by other children who are capable

of such disturbing behavior”. So I guess there’s no reason why homosexual

teens and other people are bullied. I guess it due to people’s stupidity and

knowing what is happening to the victims of homosexual bullying which I’ll

tell you about.

Victims of homosexual bullying are growing every day. According to

“Mental Health America”: “They hear anti-gay slurs such as “homo”,

“faggot” and “sissy” about 26 times a day or once every 14 minutes. Even

more troubling, a study found that thirty-one percent of gay youth had been

threatened or injured at school in the last year alone!... Gay, lesbian, and

bisexual youth are two to three times more likely to attempt suicide than

their heterosexual counterparts”. Homosexual bullying is not just a serious

issue it’s also a problem in our schools. A study shown that homosexual

teens are more likely to skip school because they want to get away from the

treats and comments they get from school. “Twenty-eight percent of gay

students will drop out of school. This is more than three times the national

average for heterosexual students”. Twenty-eight percent! And these

students will try and find someone to ask for help but they won’t be listened

to. Students will complain to a principle, counselor or to a teacher and most

likely they wont to anything about it.

Seth Walsh, a 13 year old homosexual boy who tried to hang himself off a

tree in his backyard he was hospitalized and was put on life support for nine

days. Seth attended Jacobsen Middle School where he was bullied. The family

wanted to see justice to the students who bullied him but police couldn’t do

anything because it wasn’t a criminal act. “Last Sunday, Sept. 19, he was

found unconscious and not breathing after apparently trying to hang himself

from a tree branch. He was airlifted to a local hospital, where he remained

on life support until this afternoon, where he died surrounded by family. He

leaves behind his grandmother Judy Walsh, mother Wendy Walsh, and three

siblings, ages 11, 17, and 18. Police, meanwhile, say they cannot prosecute

any of the kids responsible for his torment, since school bullying is not a

crime. ("Several of the kids that we talked to broke down into tears," says

Tehachapi Police Chief Jeff Kermode. "They had never expected an outcome

such as this.")”. He was a kid who loved fashion loved his friends and it was

unexpected to his friends and family. Tyler Clementi, a 18 year old college

freshmen who attended Rutgers University after finding out someone

videotaped him being sexually active with another guy and sent the video to

other people he posted on his FaceBook “Jumping the gw bridge sorry”. He

did. Asher Brown, just 13 years old hanged himself after being called “fag”,

“gay” for months. His parents complained to the school but nothing was

done. Lawrence King, 15 year old homosexual boy who publicly come out as

gay to everyone at school. “On the morning of Feb. 12, Lawrence was in the

school’s computer lab with 24 other students, said Mr. Keith, the police
spokesman. Brandon walked into the room with a gun and shot Lawrence in

the head, the police said, then ran from the building. Police officers caught

him a few blocks away”. Brandon was homophobia and hated Lawrence. This

bloody act was wrong. Lawrence didn’t do anything to Brendan but be

himself.

These events that happened are a wakeup call to America. We should

learn to accept people of any sexual orientation because they are a person

they are one of us there is nothing different between a heterosexual girl or

boy and a homosexual girl or boy and not homosexual bullying isn’t the only

bullying out there are many victims of regular bullying and of adults and

children killing themselves. Our schools should enforce rule that protect our

students from bulling of any kind. There should be no student that can’t go

to school because there are bullied at school. Today’s society should be

more civilized and more mature to other people.
