204.1 Description • Foundation for surface source - soil-aggregate - Portland Cement - Water • In proper proportions 204.2 Materials Requirements • Soil Aggregate -conforms to Subsection 203.2.1 • Portland Cement - conforms to Item 700 • Water - conforms to Item 714 204.2 Materials Requirements • Proportioning - amount of cement added to soil-aggregate is from 6 – 10 mass percent of dry soil. - exact percentage shall be fixed by the Engineer based on preliminary tests and trial mixes. • Strength Requirements - conforms to Subsection 203.2.5 204.3 Construction Requirements • prescribed under Subsections 203.3.1 through 203.3.10. • in all cases, “lime” shall be deleted and replaced with “Portland Cement” 204.4 Method of Measurement • PC Stabilized Road Mix Base Course - in cubic meter • Quantity to be paid shall be the design volume • No allowance shall be given for mat’ls placed outside the design limit • Trial sections shall be included 204.5 Basis of Payment • Paid for at the Contract Unit Price for PC Stabilized Road Mix Base Course • Full furnishing, all labor, equipment, tools and incidentals are included. Item 205 – Asphalt Stabilized Road Mix Base Course 205.1 Description • Foundation for Surface Course - soil-aggregate - asphaltic material 205.2 Material Requirements • Soil-aggregates - conforms to Item 703, Gradation A or B shall be used • Asphaltic Material - Anionic or Cationic Emulsified Asphalt, conforms to Item 702 205.2 Material Requirements • Proportioning - 4 – 7 mass percent of the dry soil-aggregate. - exact percentage shall be fixed by the Engineer • Strength Requirements - conforms to Subsection 203.2.5 205.3 Construction Requirements • Prescribed under Subsections 306.3.1 through 306.3.7 • In all cases, the word “aggregate” shall be deleted and replaced by “Soil-aggregate” • Trial sections shall conform to Subsection 200.3.4 • Allowable tolerance shall be in accordance with Subsection 201.3.5 205.4 Method of Measurement • Asphalt Stabilized Road Mix Base Course - in cubic meters • No allowance to be given for mat’ls placed outside the design limits • Trial sections are included in the quantity 205.5 Basis of Payment • Paid for at the Contract Unit Price for Asphalt Stabilized Road Mix Based Course • Full furnishing, all labor, equipment, tools and incidentals are included. Item 206 – Portland Cement Treated Plant Mix Base Course 206.1 Description • Foundation for surface source - soil-aggregate - Portland Cement - Water mixed by a travel plant or in a central plant • In proper proportions 206.2 Materials Requirements • Same as 204.2.1 to 204.2.5 206.3 Construction Requirements • Weather Limitations - PC shall not be applied during windy, rainy, or impending bad weather. • Travel Plant Method - new soil aggregate shall be pulverized until 80 mass percent can pass through No.4 sieve - Mat’ls retained on 50 mm sieve shall be removed 206.3 Construction Requirements • Travel Plant Method - subgrade/subbase shall support all equip required in the construction of the base course - soil-aggregate to be treated be placed in a uniform windrow - specified quantity of PC shall be applied uniformly 206.3 Construction Requirements • Travel Plant Method - mixing shall be accomplished by means of a mixer - maximum of 2 hrs shall be permitted for wet mixing, laydown, and finishing • Central Plant Method - soil-aggregate shall be proportioned and mixed with cement and water in a central mixing plant. 206.3 Construction Requirements • Spreading, Compacting and Finishing - mixture shall be spread on a prepared and moistened subgrade/subbase -no more than 60 mins shall elapse between start of mixing and start of compaction - after spreading, compaction then finishing 206.3 Construction Requirements • Protection, Curing and Maintenance - completed cement shall be cured with a bituminous curing seal • Trial Section - same as 203.3.8 • Tolerances - same as 203.3.9 • Traffic - same as 203.3.10 206.4 Method of Measurement • PC Treated Plant Mix Base Course - in cubic meter • Quantity to be paid shall be the design volume • No allowance shall be given for mat’ls placed outside the design limit • Trial sections shall be included 206.5 Basis of Payment • Paid for at the Contract Unit Price for PC Treated Plant Mix Base Course • Full furnishing, all labor, equipment, tools and incidentals are included. Item 207 – Aggregate Stockpile 207.1 Description • Furnishing and placing aggregate in stockpiles 207.2 Materials Requirements • Conform to all requirements of specified Item Number • Test for acceptance at the source 207.3 Construction Requirements • shall be graded, shaped and compacted to a uniform cross section • In accordance with Clause 65 and 67 207.4 Method of Measurement • Aggregate Stockpile - in cubic meter 207.5 Basis of Payment • Paid for at the Contract Unit Price for Aggregate Stackpile • Full furnishing, all labor, equipment, tools and incidentals are included.
