Introdu
ion
mos \propietario". Sus ingresos son el resultado de
obrar un pre
io por
opia a sus
lientes. La legisla
ion
a
tual de dere
hos de
opia (
opyright ) esta dise~nada para favore
er esta pra
ti
a, y la insdustria del software
propietario esta intentando que se a
omode aun mas a sus intereses.
Como en este modelo e
onomi
ion
software estan muy in
entivadas para dedi
ar sus esfuerzos a vender mas y mas
opias.
udir a
on la produ
ion de sistemas tan
ompletos
a
omo Nets
ape, Motorola, IBM o Corel.
impli
a
usuarios informati
os en parti
ular (ya sean personas o empresas)
onoz
an su existen
ia y
onsideren su
utilidad.
ion a

er
on un programa libre,
onsultar la
li
en
ia bajo la que se distribuye. Esa misma li
en
ia servira tambien para de
idir si un programa es software
libre o no.
2.2.2 Shareware
a
eso al
odigo fuente.
Por lo tanto, lo que se introdu
e
ion
(que no de uso).

Pero si la

la produ

aumentar su motiva
ion.
Comment (jgb): The origins of the
opyright legislation should be do
umented, and we should be
sure that these were the initial motivation of that legislation (see fsb ar
hive).
De he
hos (a diferen
ia de los dere
hos de propiedad sobre bienes materiales) expira
on el
tiempo, y hay institu
iones (
omo las bibliote
as publi
opyright
omo una medida prote
ionista
por parte de la so
iedad, que impone un \impuesto" a la
opia de informa
ion. Ese impuesto es la
antidad
opia (
opyright)
ada vez que esta
opia se realiza (por
ejemplo,
ada vez que se
ompra una pel
ula de video, un dis
o de musi
a o in
virtualmente gratis
on las te
nologas a
tuales. Solo porque la legisla
ion lo impone hay que pagar un
ierto
sobre
oste. Curiosamente, este impuesto no lo re
ibe el estado, sino dire
ta o indire
tamente el due~no de los
dere
hos de
opia. La suposi
ion impl
o in
remente (en terminos
ualitativos o
uantitativos) la produ
ion del tipo de informa
ion en
uestion
(pel
ulas, musi
a o libros, por ejemplo). Otra
opia
omo una forma de asegurarse
una mayor produ
ion (
uantitativa y
ualitativamente) de informa
ion. En
uanto el le
tor se per
ata de este
he

aso del software, >se bene
ia la so

a

erlo, sea libre o no. La

hos estudiantes usaron Spi

ir

estudiantes,
uando pasaron a la industria, llevaron y adaptaron Spi
e a los ordenadores disponibles (CDC
6400, IBM 360/370, DEC VAX 11/780, et
.). Ya en 1975, el uso de Spi
e estaba muy extendido. En 1984
Mi
roSim Corp. produjo P-Spi
e, un transporte de Spi
e a ordenadores de tipo PC,
omenzando una saga de
produ

leo libre de Spi

C.2 The Debian Free Software Guidelines
y Manual1 ),
version 2.4.1.0 del 14 de abril de 1998. Sus autores son Ian Ja
kson y Christian S
hwarz, y esta revisado por
David A. Morris.
ion Debian
del sistema GNU/Linux.
The Debian Free Software Guidelines (DFSG) is our definition of `free' software.
1. Free Redistribution. The li
ense of a Debian
omponent may not restri
t any party
from selling or giving away the software as a
omponent of an aggregate software
distribution
ontaining programs from several different sour
es. The li
ense may
not require a royalty or other fee for su
h sale.
2. Sour
e Code. The program must in
lude sour
e
ode, and must allow distribution in
sour
e
ode as well as
ompiled form.
3. Derived Works. The li
ense must allow modifi
ations and derived works, and must allow
them to be distributed under the same terms as the li
ense of the original software.
4. Integrity of The Author's Sour
e Code. The li
ense may restri
t sour
e-
ode from
being distributed in modified form *only* if the li
ense allows the distribution
of ``pat
h files'' with the sour
e
ode for the purpose of modifying the program at
build time. The li
ense must expli
itly permit distribution of software built from
modified sour
e
ode. The li
ense may require derived works to
arry a different
name or version number from the original software. (This is a
ompromise. The Debian
group en
ourages all authors to not restri
t any files, sour
e or binary, from being
modified.)
5. No Dis
rimination Against Persons or Groups. The li
ense must not dis
riminate
against any person or group of persons.
6. No Dis
rimination Against Fields of Endeavor. The li
ense must not restri
t anyone
from making use of the program in a spe
ifi
field of endeavor. For example, it may
not restri
t the program from being used in a business, or from being used for geneti
resear
h.
7. Distribution of Li
ense. The rights atta
hed to the program must apply to all to whom
the program is redistributed without the need for exe
ution of an additional li
ense
by those parties.
8. Li
ense Must Not Be Spe
ifi
to Debian. The rights atta
hed to the program must not
depend on the program's being part of a Debian system. If the program is extra
ted
from Debian and used or distributed without Debian but otherwise within the terms of
the program's li
ense, all parties to whom the program is redistributed should have
the same rights as those that are granted in
onjun
tion with the Debian system.
9. Li
ense Must Not Contaminate Other Software. The li
ense must not pla
e restri
tions
on other software that is distributed along with the li
ensed software. For example,
the li
ense must not insist that all other programs distributed on the same medium
must be free software.
10. Example Li
enses. The ``GPL,'' ``BSD,'' and ``Artisti
'' li
enses are examples of
li
enses that we
onsider free.

Preambulo
omprometen a utilizarla. (Existe otro software de la Free Software
Foundation que esta
ubierto por la Li
en
ia Publi
a General de GNU para Bibliote
as).
osas.
Para proteger sus dere
hos ne
esitamos algunas restri
iones que prohiban a
ualquiera negarle a usted
estos dere
hos o pedirle que renun
ie a ellos. Estas restri
iones se tradu
en en
iertas obliga
iones que le
afe
tan si distribuye
opias del software, o si lo modi
a.
on-
trapresta
ion, debe dar a los re
eptores todos los dere
hos que tiene. Debe asegurarse de que ellos tambien
re
iben, o pueden
onseguir, el
odigo fuente. Y debe mostrarles estas
ondi
iones de forma que
onoz
an sus
dere
hos.
Protegemos sus dere
hos
on la
ombina
ion de dos medidas:
1. Ponemos el software bajo
opyright y
2. le ofre
emos esta li
en
ia, que le da permiso legal para
opiar, distribuir y/o modi
uenta,
on-
virtiendo de fa
to el programa en propietario. Para evitar esto, hemos dejado
laro que
ualquier patente debe
ser pedida para el uso libre de
ualquiera, o no ser pedida.
Los terminos exa
tos y las

ion y modi

Cualquier otra a

opia, distribu

ubierta por esta
Li

del Programa estan
ubiertos uni
amente si sus
ontenidos
onstituyen un trabajo basado en el Programa,
independientemente de haberlo produ

umpla,
depende de lo que haga el programa.
1. Usted puede
opiar y distribuir

en
ualquier medio, supuesto que de forma ade

2. Puede modi

un trabajo basado en el Programa, y
opiar y distribuir esa modi

apartado 1, antedi

ondi

a. Debe ha

ualquier

onsideradas trabajos independientes y
separados por ellos mismos, enton
es esta Li

Preamble
The li
enses for most software are designed to take away your freedom to share and
hange it. By
ontrast,
the GNU General Publi
Li
enses are intended to guarantee your freedom to share and
hange free software|to
make sure the software is free for all its users.
This li
ense, the Library General Publi
Li
ense, applies to some spe
ially designated Free Software Foun-
dation software, and to any other libraries whose authors de
ide to use it. You
an use it for your libraries,
too.
When we speak of free software, we are referring to freedom, not pri
e. Our General Publi
Li
enses are
designed to make sure that you have the freedom to distribute
opies of free software (and
harge for this
servi
e if you wish), that you re
eive sour
e
ode or
an get it if you want it, that you
an
hange the software
or use pie
es of it in new free programs; and that you know you
an do these things.
To prote
t your rights, we need to make restri
tions that forbid anyone to deny you these rights or to ask
you to surrender the rights. These restri
tions translate to
ertain responsibilities for you if you distribute
opies of the library, or if you modify it.
For example, if you distribute
opies of the library, whether gratis or for a fee, you must give the re
ipients
all the rights that we gave you. You must make sure that they, too, re
eive or
an get the sour
e
ode. If
you link a program with the library, you must provide
omplete obje
t les to the re
ipients so that they
an
relink them with the library, after making
hanges to the library and re
ompiling it. And you must show them
these terms so they know their rights.
Our method of prote
ting your rights has two steps: (1)
opyright the library, and (2) oer you this li
ense
whi
h gives you legal permission to
opy, distribute and/or modify the library.
Also, for ea
h distributor's prote
tion, we want to make
ertain that everyone understands that there is no
warranty for this free library. If the library is modied by someone else and passed on, we want its re
ipients
to know that what they have is not the original version, so that any problems introdu
ed by others will not
re
e
t on the original authors' reputations.
Finally, any free program is threatened
onstantly by software patents. We wish to avoid the danger that
ompanies distributing free software will individually obtain patent li
enses, thus in ee
t transforming the
program into proprietary software. To prevent this, we have made it
lear that any patent must be li
ensed
for everyone's free use or not li
ensed at all.
Most GNU software, in
luding some libraries, is
overed by the ordinary GNU General Publi
Li
ense,
whi
h was designed for utility programs. This li
ense, the GNU Library General Publi
Li
ense, applies to
ertain designated libraries. This li
ense is quite dierent from the ordinary one; be sure to read it in full, and
don't assume that anything in it is the same as in the ordinary li
ense.
The reason we have a separate publi
li
ense for some libraries is that they blur the distin
tion we usually
make between modifying or adding to a program and simply using it. Linking a program with a library,
without
hanging the library, is in some sense simply using the library, and is analogous to running a utility
program or appli
ation program. However, in a textual and legal sense, the linked exe
utable is a
ombined
work, a derivative of the original library, and the ordinary General Publi
Li
ense treats it as su
h.
Be
ause of this blurred distin
tion, using the ordinary General Publi
Li
ense for libraries did not ee
tively
promote software sharing, be
ause most developers did not use the libraries. We
on
luded that weaker
onditions might promote sharing better.
However, unrestri
ted linking of non-free programs would deprive the users of those programs of all benet
from the free status of the libraries themselves. This Library General Publi
Li
ense is intended to permit
developers of non-free programs to use free libraries, while preserving your freedom as a user of su
h programs
55
to
hange the free libraries that are in
orporated in them. (We have not seen how to a
hieve this as regards
hanges in header les, but we have a
hieved it as regards
hanges in the a
tual fun
tions of the Library.) The
hope is that this will lead to faster development of free libraries.
The pre
ise terms and
onditions for
opying, distribution and modi
ation follow. Pay
lose attention to
the dieren
e between a \work based on the library" and a \work that uses the library". The former
ontains
ode derived from the library, while the latter only works together with the library.
Note that it is possible for a library to be
overed by the ordinary General Publi
Li
ense rather than by
this spe
ial one.
GNU LIBRARY GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE
TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR COPYING, DISTRIBUTION AND MODIFICATION
0. This Li
ense Agreement applies to any software library whi
h
ontains a noti
e pla
ed by the
opyright
holder or other authorized party saying it may be distributed under the terms of this Library General
Publi
Li
ense (also
alled \this Li
ense"). Ea
h li
ensee is addressed as \you".
A \library" means a
olle
tion of software fun
tions and/or data prepared so as to be
onveniently linked
with appli
ation programs (whi
h use some of those fun
tions and data) to form exe
utables.
The \Library", below, refers to any su
h software library or work whi
h has been distributed under these
terms. A \work based on the Library" means either the Library or any derivative work under
opyright
law: that is to say, a work
ontaining the Library or a portion of it, either verbatim or with modi
ations
and/or translated straightforwardly into another language. (Hereinafter, translation is in
luded without
limitation in the term \modi
ation".)
\Sour
e
ode" for a work means the preferred form of the work for making modi
ations to it. For a
library,
omplete sour
e
ode means all the sour
e
ode for all modules it
ontains, plus any asso
iated
interfa
e denition les, plus the s
ripts used to
ontrol
ompilation and installation of the library.
A
tivities other than
opying, distribution and modi
ation are not
overed by this Li
ense; they are
outside its s
ope. The a
t of running a program using the Library is not restri
ted, and output from
su
h a program is
overed only if its
ontents
onstitute a work based on the Library (independent of
the use of the Library in a tool for writing it). Whether that is true depends on what the Library does
and what the program that uses the Library does.
1. You may
opy and distribute verbatim
opies of the Library's
omplete sour
e
ode as you re
eive it,
in any medium, provided that you
onspi
uously and appropriately publish on ea
h
opy an appropriate
opyright noti
e and dis
laimer of warranty; keep inta
t all the noti
es that refer to this Li
ense and to
the absen
e of any warranty; and distribute a
opy of this Li
ense along with the Library.
You may
harge a fee for the physi
al a
t of transferring a
opy, and you may at your option oer
warranty prote
tion in ex
hange for a fee.
2. You may modify your
opy or
opies of the Library or any portion of it, thus forming a work based
on the Library, and
opy and distribute su
h modi
ations or work under the terms of Se
tion 1 above,
provided that you also meet all of these
onditions:
a) The modied work must itself be a software library.
b) You must
ause the les modied to
arry prominent noti
es stating that you
hanged the les
and the date of any
hange.
) You must
ause the whole of the work to be li
ensed at no
harge to all third parties under the
terms of this Li
ense.
d) If a fa
ility in the modied Library refers to a fun
tion or a table of data to be supplied by an
appli
ation program that uses the fa
ility, other than as an argument passed when the fa
ility is
invoked, then you must make a good faith eort to ensure that, in the event an appli
ation does not
supply su
h fun
tion or table, the fa
ility still operates, and performs whatever part of its purpose
remains meaningful.
(For example, a fun
tion in a library to
ompute square roots has a purpose that is entirely well-dened
independent of the appli
ation. Therefore, Subse
tion 2d requires that any appli
ation-supplied fun
tion
or table used by this fun
tion must be optional: if the appli
ation does not supply it, the square root
fun
tion must still
ompute square roots.)
56
These requirements apply to the modied work as a whole. If identiable se
tions of that work are
not derived from the Library, and
an be reasonably
onsidered independent and separate works in
themselves, then this Li
ense, and its terms, do not apply to those se
tions when you distribute them as
separate works. But when you distribute the same se
tions as part of a whole whi
h is a work based on
the Library, the distribution of the whole must be on the terms of this Li
ense, whose permissions for
other li
ensees extend to the entire whole, and thus to ea
h and every part regardless of who wrote it.
Thus, it is not the intent of this se
tion to
laim rights or
ontest your rights to work written entirely by
you; rather, the intent is to exer
ise the right to
ontrol the distribution of derivative or
olle
tive works
based on the Library.
In addition, mere aggregation of another work not based on the Library with the Library (or with a work
based on the Library) on a volume of a storage or distribution medium does not bring the other work
under the s
ope of this Li
ense.
3. You may opt to apply the terms of the ordinary GNU General Publi
Li
ense instead of this Li
ense
to a given
opy of the Library. To do this, you must alter all the noti
es that refer to this Li
ense, so
that they refer to the ordinary GNU General Publi
Li
ense, version 2, instead of to this Li
ense. (If a
newer version than version 2 of the ordinary GNU General Publi
Li
ense has appeared, then you
an
spe
ify that version instead if you wish.) Do not make any other
hange in these noti
es.
On
e this
hange is made in a given
opy, it is irreversible for that
opy, so the ordinary GNU General
Publi
Li
ense applies to all subsequent
opies and derivative works made from that
opy.
This option is useful when you wish to
opy part of the
ode of the Library into a program that is not
a library.
4. You may
opy and distribute the Library (or a portion or derivative of it, under Se
tion 2) in obje
t
ode or exe
utable form under the terms of Se
tions 1 and 2 above provided that you a
ompany it with
the
omplete
orresponding ma
hine-readable sour
e
ode, whi
h must be distributed under the terms
of Se
tions 1 and 2 above on a medium
ustomarily used for software inter
hange.
If distribution of obje
t
ode is made by oering a
ess to
opy from a designated pla
e, then oering
equivalent a
ess to
opy the sour
e
ode from the same pla
e satises the requirement to distribute the
sour
e
ode, even though third parties are not
ompelled to
opy the sour
e along with the obje
t
ode.
5. A program that
ontains no derivative of any portion of the Library, but is designed to work with the
Library by being
ompiled or linked with it, is
alled a \work that uses the Library". Su
h a work, in
isolation, is not a derivative work of the Library, and therefore falls outside the s
ope of this Li
ense.
However, linking a \work that uses the Library" with the Library
reates an exe
utable that is a derivative
of the Library (be
ause it
ontains portions of the Library), rather than a \work that uses the library".
The exe
utable is therefore
overed by this Li
ense. Se
tion 6 states terms for distribution of su
h
exe
utables.
When a \work that uses the Library" uses material from a header le that is part of the Library, the
obje
t
ode for the work may be a derivative work of the Library even though the sour
e
ode is not.
Whether this is true is espe
ially signi
ant if the work
an be linked without the Library, or if the work
is itself a library. The threshold for this to be true is not pre
isely dened by law.
If su
h an obje
t le uses only numeri
al parameters, data stru
ture layouts and a
essors, and small
ma
ros and small inline fun
tions (ten lines or less in length), then the use of the obje
t le is unrestri
ted,
regardless of whether it is legally a derivative work. (Exe
utables
ontaining this obje
t
ode plus portions
of the Library will still fall under Se
tion 6.)
Otherwise, if the work is a derivative of the Library, you may distribute the obje
t
ode for the work
under the terms of Se
tion 6. Any exe
utables
ontaining that work also fall under Se
tion 6, whether
or not they are linked dire
tly with the Library itself.
6. As an ex
eption to the Se
tions above, you may also
ompile or link a \work that uses the Library"
with the Library to produ
e a work
ontaining portions of the Library, and distribute that work under
terms of your
hoi
e, provided that the terms permit modi
ation of the work for the
ustomer's own
use and reverse engineering for debugging su
h modi
ations.
You must give prominent noti
e with ea
h
opy of the work that the Library is used in it and that the
Library and its use are
overed by this Li
ense. You must supply a
opy of this Li
ense. If the work
57
during exe
ution displays
opyright noti
es, you must in
lude the
opyright noti
e for the Library among
them, as well as a referen
e dire
ting the user to the
opy of this Li
ense. Also, you must do one of these
things:
a) A
ompany the work with the
omplete
orresponding ma
hine-readable sour
e
ode for the
Library in
luding whatever
hanges were used in the work (whi
h must be distributed under Se
tions
1 and 2 above); and, if the work is an exe
utable linked with the Library, with the
omplete
ma
hine-readable \work that uses the Library", as obje
t
ode and/or sour
e
ode, so that the user
an modify the Library and then relink to produ
e a modied exe
utable
ontaining the modied
Library. (It is understood that the user who
hanges the
ontents of denitions les in the Library
will not ne
essarily be able to re
ompile the appli
ation to use the modied denitions.)
b) A
ompany the work with a written oer, valid for at least three years, to give the same user
the materials spe
ied in Subse
tion 6a, above, for a
harge no more than the
ost of performing
this distribution.
) If distribution of the work is made by oering a
ess to
opy from a designated pla
e, oer
equivalent a
ess to
opy the above spe
ied materials from the same pla
e.
d) Verify that the user has already re
eived a
opy of these materials or that you have already sent
this user a
opy.
For an exe
utable, the required form of the \work that uses the Library" must in
lude any data and
utility programs needed for reprodu
ing the exe
utable from it. However, as a spe
ial ex
eption, the
sour
e
ode distributed need not in
lude anything that is normally distributed (in either sour
e or binary
form) with the major
omponents (
ompiler, kernel, and so on) of the operating system on whi
h the
exe
utable runs, unless that
omponent itself a
ompanies the exe
utable.
It may happen that this requirement
ontradi
ts the li
ense restri
tions of other proprietary libraries
that do not normally a
ompany the operating system. Su
h a
ontradi
tion means you
annot use both
them and the Library together in an exe
utable that you distribute.
7. You may pla
e library fa
ilities that are a work based on the Library side-by-side in a single library
together with other library fa
ilities not
overed by this Li
ense, and distribute su
h a
ombined library,
provided that the separate distribution of the work based on the Library and of the other library fa
ilities
is otherwise permitted, and provided that you do these two things:
a) A
ompany the
ombined library with a
opy of the same work based on the Library, un
ombined
with any other library fa
ilities. This must be distributed under the terms of the Se
tions above.
b) Give prominent noti
e with the
ombined library of the fa
t that part of it is a work based on
the Library, and explaining where to nd the a
ompanying un
ombined form of the same work.
8. You may not
opy, modify, subli
ense, link with, or distribute the Library ex
ept as expressly provided
under this Li
ense. Any attempt otherwise to
opy, modify, subli
ense, link with, or distribute the
Library is void, and will automati
ally terminate your rights under this Li
ense. However, parties who
have re
eived
opies, or rights, from you under this Li
ense will not have their li
enses terminated so
long as su
h parties remain in full
omplian
e.
9. You are not required to a
ept this Li
ense, sin
e you have not signed it. However, nothing else grants
you permission to modify or distribute the Library or its derivative works. These a
tions are prohibited
by law if you do not a
ept this Li
ense. Therefore, by modifying or distributing the Library (or any
work based on the Library), you indi
ate your a
eptan
e of this Li
ense to do so, and all its terms and
onditions for
opying, distributing or modifying the Library or works based on it.
10. Ea
h time you redistribute the Library (or any work based on the Library), the re
ipient automat-
i
ally re
eives a li
ense from the original li
ensor to
opy, distribute, link with or modify the Library
subje
t to these terms and
onditions. You may not impose any further restri
tions on the re
ipients'
exer
ise of the rights granted herein. You are not responsible for enfor
ing
omplian
e by third parties
to this Li
ense.
11. If, as a
onsequen
e of a
ourt judgment or allegation of patent infringement or for any other reason
(not limited to patent issues),
onditions are imposed on you (whether by
ourt order, agreement or
58
otherwise) that
ontradi
t the
onditions of this Li
ense, they do not ex
use you from the
onditions of
this Li
ense. If you
annot distribute so as to satisfy simultaneously your obligations under this Li
ense
and any other pertinent obligations, then as a
onsequen
e you may not distribute the Library at all.
For example, if a patent li
ense would not permit royalty-free redistribution of the Library by all those
who re
eive
opies dire
tly or indire
tly through you, then the only way you
ould satisfy both it and
this Li
ense would be to refrain entirely from distribution of the Library.
If any portion of this se
tion is held invalid or unenfor
eable under any parti
ular
ir
umstan
e, the
balan
e of the se
tion is intended to apply, and the se
tion as a whole is intended to apply in other
ir
umstan
es.
It is not the purpose of this se
tion to indu
e you to infringe any patents or other property right
laims
or to
ontest validity of any su
h
laims; this se
tion has the sole purpose of prote
ting the integrity of
the free software distribution system whi
h is implemented by publi
li
ense pra
ti
es. Many people have
made generous
ontributions to the wide range of software distributed through that system in relian
e
on
onsistent appli
ation of that system; it is up to the author/donor to de
ide if he or she is willing to
distribute software through any other system and a li

Preamble:
The intent of this do
ument is to state the
onditions under whi
h a Pa
kage may be
opied, su
h that the Copyright Holder maintains some semblan
e of artisti
ontrol over
the development of the Pa
kage, while giving the users of the pa
kage the right to use
and distribute the Pa
kage in a more-or-less
ustomary fashion, plus the right to make
reasonable modifi
ations.
It also grants you the rights to reuse parts of a Pa
kage in your own programs without
transferring this Li
ense to those programs, provided that you meet some reasonable
requirements.
Definitions:
``Pa
kage'' refers to the
olle
tion of files distributed by the Copyright Holder, and
derivatives of that
olle
tion of files
reated through textual modifi
ation.
``Standard Version'' refers to su
h a Pa
kage if it has not been modified, or has been
modified in a
ordan
e with the wishes of the Copyright Holder as spe
ified below.
``Copyright Holder'' is whoever is named in the
opyright or
opyrights for the pa
kage.
``You'' is you, if you're thinking about
opying or distributing this Pa
kage.
``Reasonable
opying fee'' is whatever you
an justify on the basis of media
ost,
dupli
ation
harges, time of people involved, and so on. (You will not be required to
justify it to the Copyright Holder, but only to the
omputing
ommunity at large as a
market that must bear the fee.)
``Freely Available'' means that no fee is
harged for the item itself, though there
may be fees involved in handling the item. It also means that re
ipients of the item may
redistribute it under the same
onditions they re
eived it.
1. You may make and give away verbatim
opies of the sour
e form of the Standard Version
of this Pa
kage without restri
tion, provided that you dupli
ate all of the original
opyright noti
es and asso
iated dis
laimers.
2. You may apply bug fixes, portability fixes and other modifi
ations derived from the
Publi
Domain or from the Copyright Holder. A Pa
kage modified in su
h a way shall
still be
onsidered the Standard Version.
3. You may otherwise modify your
opy of this Pa
kage in any way, provided that you
insert a prominent noti
e in ea
h
hanged file stating how and when you
hanged that
file, and provided that you do at least ONE of the following:
(a) pla
e your modifi
ations in the Publi
Domain or otherwise make them Freely
Available, su
h as by posting said modifi
ations to Usenet or an equivalent
medium, or pla
ing the modifi
ations on a major ar
hive site su
h as uunet.uu.net,
or by allowing the Copyright Holder to in
lude your modifi
ations in the Standard
Version of the Pa
kage.
(b) use the modified Pa
kage only within your
orporation or organization.
(
) rename any non-standard exe
utables so the names do not
onfli
t with standard
exe
utables, whi
h must also be provided, and provide a separate manual page
for ea
h non-standard exe
utable that
learly do
uments how it differs from the
Standard Version.
(d) make other distribution arrangements with the Copyright Holder.
4. You may distribute the programs of this Pa
kage in obje
t
ode or exe
utable form,
provided that you do at least ONE of the following:
65
(a) distribute a Standard Version of the exe
utables and library files, together
with instru
tions (in the manual page or equivalent) on where to get the Standard
Version.
(b) a
ompany the distribution with the ma
hine-readable sour
e of the Pa
kage with
your modifi
ations.
(
) give non-standard exe
utables non-standard names, and
learly do
ument the
differen
es in manual pages (or equivalent), together with instru
tions on where
to get the Standard Version.
(d) make other distribution arrangements with the Copyright Holder.
5. You may
harge a reasonable
opying fee for any distribution of this Pa
kage. You may
harge any fee you
hoose for support of this Pa
kage. You may not
harge a fee for
this Pa
kage itself. However, you may distribute this Pa
kage in aggregate with other
(possibly
ommer
ial) programs as part of a larger (possibly
ommer
ial) software
distribution provided that you do not advertise this Pa
kage as a produ
t of your own.
6. The s
ripts and library files supplied as input to or produ
ed as output from the
programs of this Pa
kage do not automati
ally fall under the
opyright of this
Pa
kage, but belong to whomever generated them, and may be sold
ommer
ially, and may
be aggregated with this Pa
kage. If su
h s
ripts or library files are aggregated with
this Pa
kage via the so-
alled ``undump'' or ``unexe
'' methods of produ
ing a binary
exe
utable image, then distribution of su
h an image shall neither be
onstrued as a
distribution of this Pa
kage nor shall it fall under the restri
tions of Paragraphs
3 and 4, provided that you do not represent su
h an exe
utable image as a Standard
Version of this Pa
kage.
7. You may reuse parts of this Pa
kage in your own programs, provided that you expli
itly
state where you got them from, in the sour
e
ode (and, left to your
ourtesy, in
the do
umentation), dupli
ating all the asso
iated
opyright noti
es and dis
laimers.
Besides your
hanges, if any, must be
learly marked as su
h. Parts reused that way
will no longer fall under this li
ense if, and only if, the name of your program(s)
have no immediate
onne
tion with the name of the Pa
kage itself or its asso
iated
programs. You may then apply whatever restri
tions you wish on the reused parts or
hoose to pla
e them in the Publi
Domain---this will apply only within the
ontext of
your pa
kage.
8. The name of the Copyright Holder may not be used to endorse or promote produ
ts
derived from this software without spe
ifi
prior written permission.
9. THIS PACKAGE IS PROVIDED ``AS IS'' AND WITHOUT ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES,
INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTIBILITY AND FITNESS
FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
