PREFIXES
Prefix has meanings in linguistics, mathematics and computer science, and telecommunications.
In linguistics, a prefix is a type of affix that precedes the morphemes (smallest language unit that
carries an interpretation) to which it can attach. Prefixes are bound morphemes (they cannot
occur as independent words).
Referring to direction:
ab- : away from, from
ad- : toward
circum- : around
dia- : through, across
ec- : out, out from
ecto- : outside, outward
endo- : in, within
ex- : out, out from
exo- : outside, outward
extra- : outside, outward
intra- : within
para- : near, beside
peri- : around
super- : above, excessive
supra- : above

anti- : against
brady- : slow
contra- : against
dys- : difficult, painful, bad
eu- : good, normal
hetero- : different
homo- : same
mal- : bad
pan- : all

tachy- : fast, rapid

In linguistics, a suffix is an affix that follows the morphemes to which it can attach.
