“Music Reading”
1. Work in groups. Write four sentences about what would your perfect world
be like? Use the expressions:
John Winston Lennon was born on October 9th, 1940 in Liverpool, England.
As a child, John lived a life of uninterrupted calm. He didn’t recall feeling
desperately sad or unusually happy. Unfortunately that calm suddenly came
to an end when his mother died before his mother, John went to live with his
aunt Mimi. John didn’t have good grades at school, but he had talent and
made it to the Liverpool College of Art. John started playing rock’ n’ roll and
soon after that he joined the Beatles, a band which he helped form in 1960.
The Beatles were a legend in the history of popular music. After the group
broke up, Lennon embarked on a solo career that produced the critically
acclaimed albums John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band and Imagine, and iconic
songs such as “Give Peace a Chance” and “Imagine”. Lennon died in 1980
three weeks after the release of his new album, Double Fantasy. (…)

Suggestion: This activity is interesting for the week of April 22. Earth Day
or the week of June 5, World Environment Day.
For the first time since the dinosaurs disappeared, humans are driving
animals and plants to extinction faster than new species can evolve, one of
the world’s experts on biodiversity has warned.
Conservation experts have already signaled that the world is in the grip of
the “sixth great extinction” of species, driven by the destruction of natural
habitats, hunting, the spread of alien predators and disease, and climate
change.

Recycling turns materials that would otherwise become waste into valuable
resources. Collecting used bottles, cans, and newspapers and taking them to
the curb or to a collection facility is just the first in a series of steps
that generates a host of financial, environmental, and social returns. Some
of these benefits accrue locally as well as globally.

APENAS NO CORAÇÃO.
