“Pool Bar Dave” Nichols Another rain out was avoided when a menacing storm squall at
the beginning of the match turned out to be only a 40 minute
Editorial Assistant rain delay that enabled 15 patient and loyal ATAGers to
still looking complete the 18th match of the 2006 season. The first group
had just finished the opening hole # 10 and the second group
was walking to their opening tee shots when a jagged bolt of
lightning above the clubhouse halted play as the players
scurried back to the Grill just in time to watch a hard rain
suggest that there would be no ATAG match on this Tuesday. In
keeping with ATAG custom, players commenced with the
socializing on the porch and were pleasantly surprised when the
skies cleared after only 40 minutes and the match was
resumed. Four of the players, for inexplicable reasons, elected
to withdraw resulting in the following four teams to take on the
challenging back nine:

DRAW PARTNER KEY TO TEAM’S
VICTORY!
Team 1 players Tim Martin, P.J. Wade, and Scotty Greene,
aided by three holes from their post round draw partner Tom
Thornhill, edged out Team 2 with a score of 10 under to grab
the gusto from losing team 3 members Danny Morris, Ron
Majors, Don Nichols, and Al Roberds who never could quite
get their act together and finished in the basement with a score
of 5 under.

GREENE WINS LOW NET FOR THE

DAY!
NICHOLS EDGES OUT TYBER FOR
PRIOR WEEK’S PURSE!
Sixteen handicapper Scotty Greene won the day’s Low Net
pot of $15 with a net score of 3 under while seventeen handicapper
Don Nichols edged out three handicapper Andy Tyber for the prior
week’s rain out purse of $19 with a net score of 1 under
against Tyber’s net of even par after getting only one stroke
on the back nine. (Greene was not eligible for the prior week’s purse
since he had not played in that match.)
# 11
TYBER WINS LOW GROSS! SELLNER
RETURNS
TO THE TOP!
As the only single digiter to participate in the match, Andy
Tyber easily won the honorary Low Gross award with a score of 37.
Soaring to the top of the field was none other than perennial
winner Craig Sellner who led all challengers with a score of
52, besting fellow high handicappers Al Roberds and Kevin
McGlynn who finished behind Sellner with scores of 50 and 49
respectively.

BACK NINE YIELDS ONLY ONE

BIRDIE AIDED BY TYBER’S SHOT OF
#13 THE DAY!
The back nine once again was stingy in giving up birdies as only
one birdie was recorded-by the aforementioned Andy Tyber-
out of the field of fifteen players. The birdie by Tyber, made
possible by the “Shot Of The Day” 30 foot putt, now makes
him a co-leader of the Birdie Club with Richard Batelaan.

OTHER TIDBITS:
● The last group finished just after 8 pm to beat the darkness,
and the players once again gathered on the porch to await the final
results and resume the drinking and socializing that had begun
during the rain delay.

● “Boudreau” was a popular guy this evening as Craig

ATAG Sellner
that
opened the festivities by reading a “Boudreau” joke
received complimentary chuckles from the crowd. This
Ansley Tuesday Afternoon prompted Jeff Colbath to tell another “Boudreau” joke that
Golf Tour also received chuckles. Al Roberds then followed with some
Ansley Golf Club scatological humor by telling his own “Boudreau” story
1912 that elicited a few laughs and some groans from the attentive
196 Montgomery Ferry Drgroup.
Atlanta, Ga 30309
● Marty Arnold never made it past the ladies tee in triple
bogeying the last hole for a 47 in an obvious attempt to jettison
his handicap higher prior to an upcoming golf trip tournament in
Hilton Head.

● Brad Reese was a “no notice no show” which puts him on

ATAG Death Row with other bad boy ATAGers who have committed
the same unpardonable offense. In light of another no show, the
Leaders In The Disciplinary Committee is now studying a proposal made by
Clubhouse: several ATAGers that the “death by boogada boogada” be
Low Gross: Bernhardt: 34 replaced with an actual monetary fine which would be added to
ATAG Record: Reese: 33 the next week’s Low Net purse.

Low Net: Gutt, Sawyer: -6 That’s it for this week. Next week it is back to the friendly
(ATAG Record) front nine. Unfortunately, I will be out of town and will be unable to
chronicle the play and behavior of next week’s players. Look for
