PROFIS Anchor 2.1
TENSION ANCHOR REINFORCEMENT
D.5.2.9 – Where anchor reinforcement is developed in
accordance with Chapter 12 on both sides of the
breakout surface, the design strength of the anchor
reinforcement shall be permitted to be used instead of
the concrete breakout strength in determining NN .
A strength reduction factor of 0.75 shall be used in
the design of the anchor reinforcement.

See Fig. RD.5.2.9

 Cast-in-place anchors only.
 Concrete Breakout (Ncb or Ncbg) is not calculated.
 Assumes, instead, that anchor reinforcement will be developed.

 PA2.1 does not perform anchor reinforcement calculations.

PROFIS Anchor 2.1
TENSION ANCHOR REINFORCEMENT

 PA2.1 Design Report will indicate anchor reinforcement has been selected.
 PA2.1 does not calculate Ncb or Ncbg when anchor reinforcement is selected.

PROFIS Anchor 2.1
 Click on the box for “Anchor Reinforcement”.

 A message box will appear notifying the user that PA2.1 will not
perform concrete breakout calculations if anchor reinforcement is
selected as a design option.
 If “Yes” is selected, no calculations for Ncb or Ncbg will be performed.

PROFIS Anchor 2.1
 Click on the box for “Anchor Reinforcement” and check “Tension”.

 A message box will appear notifying the user that PA2.1 will
apply the Condition A  – factor when calculating Side-Face Blowout.
 Click “Yes” to continue with anchor reinforcement design assumptions.

As per Section D.4.4(c) of Appendix D, selecting

“Condition A” will apply a phi-factor to concrete breakout
and side-face blowout nominal strengths. Note However,
that reinforcement configurations appropriate for concrete
breakout in tension differ from those that would be
effective for side-face blowout.
Do you wish to continue using Condition A phi-factors for
tension calculations?

PROFIS Anchor 2.1
TENSION ANCHOR REINFORCEMENT

 PA2.1 defaults to Condition A  – factor for calculating Side-Face Blowout

when tension anchor reinforcement has been selected.

 Users will have option to select Condition A or Condition B  – factors after

1st Quarter update.

SHEAR ANCHOR REINFORCEMENT
D.6.2.9 – Where anchor reinforcement is either
developed in accordance with Chapter 12 on both
sides of the breakout surface, or encloses the anchor
and is developed beyond the breakout surface, the
design strength of the anchor reinforcement shall be
permitted to be used instead of the concrete breakout
strength in determining VN . A strength reduction
factor of 0.75 shall be used in the design of the
anchor reinforcement.

See Fig. RD.6.2.9(a)

 Cast-in-place anchors only.

 Concrete Breakout (Vcb or Vcbg) is not calculated.
 Assumes, instead, that anchor reinforcement will be developed.

 PA2.1 does not perform anchor reinforcement calculations.
