On March 12th, the following message containing a link to an on-line survey

regarding the allocation of student fees at the University of Ottawa was sent to
students in the Faculty of Science.

The following questions were presented in the survey, based the language
chosen on the first page of the survey:

La Fédération Étudiante de l’Université d’Ottawa (FÉUO) collectionne près de $84.19 par

étudiant à temps plein, ainsi que $42.69 par étudiant à temps partiel. De ces totaux, $24.73 par
étudiant à temps plein et $9.11 par étudiant à temps partiel est collectionné de la part de la
FÉUO. Une portion de ces frais amassés est par la suite transférer à payer les divers
associations étudiantes respectives.

En 2009, la FÉUO a revisité la formule de financement. Ceci a donc réduit le montant d’argent
que la FÉUO transfère à l’Association des Étudiants en Science, et aux autres associations
étudiant(e)s. Dans le cas de la AÉS, environ $ 15 000 fut attribué aux utilisations personnelles de
la FÉUO en 2010.

De cela, et de ce que vous connaissez au sujet de l’AÉS et de la FÉUO, préferiez-vous que la

The Student Federation of the University of Ottawa (SFUO) collects upwards of $84.19 per full-
time student (FTS) and $42.69 per part-time student (PTS), per semester enrolled. Of these
totals, $24.73 per FTS and $9.11 per PTS is allocated to the SFUO. A portion of the SFUO fees
collected is then transferred to the paying students’ respective student association through a
funding formula.

In 2009, the SFUO revisited the funding formula. Since then, the amount of money the SFUO
transfers to the Science Students’ Association (SSA) and other students’ associations has been
reduced. In the case of the SSA, approximately $15,000 was reallocated to the SFUO for internal
use in 2010.

From this, and from what you know of the operations of the SFUO and the SSA, would you prefer
that the original amount collected per student be allocated back to the SSA?

Collection and Tallying of Survey Results
Responses were collected up until March 18th at midnight.

Upon tallying the results, submissions were validated by cross-referencing the

names and emails from the submissions against those in the database of
registered Faculty of Science students. Duplicates were also screened from the
final tally.

The raw submissions and the excel spreadsheet used for tallying were kept in
case the tallying method needs to be reviewed. As these documents contain
private information, they are not being distributed with this report. Please consult
Joel Fair (joel@ssa-aes.com) should you require future information.
