In the 21st century the objective of education for all must be geared towards enhancing
capabilities, enlarging choices and developing agency by building different dimensions
of well-being, by building self-image and self worth, which in turn help individuals to be
less vulnerable to the variations within a given context. Educational content must
therefore be reviewed to remove the stereotypes and age old norms that persist. Every
aspect of education must then work towards fighting all types of poverty, including
reducing vulnerability by building potential and increasing agency and well being of
individuals and societies.
The first International Conference on Life Skills Education (ICLSE) was landmark
initiative of Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD) in
establishing a research base for Life Skills Education in India where as the second
International Conference on Life Skills Education focussed on nurturing Life Skills
Education with reference to theoretical orientation, training methodologies and
relevance of main streaming Life Skills Education into education spectrum. The present
conference comes up with following exclusive goal to dialogue on the new dimensions
of Life Skills Education. They are,
1. To explore new vistas of Life Skills Education
2. To bring together theoretical discourse and empirical contributions on Life Skills
Education
3. To discuss challenges of Life Skills Education with reference to vulnerable group
4. To document and disseminate the proceedings for the use of stakeholders

The 3rd International Conference on Life Skills Education focus to bring various stake
holders into a platform to debate and discuss issues and innovative practices associated
with the conference theme. The stakeholders include eminent scholars, researchers,
practitioners, trainers and agencies which are working on the same platform.

Call for papers


Papers are invited from the academicians, researchers, policy makers and practitioners
in Life Skills Education, Sociology and Psychology.

Submission of abstracts
Interested researchers can send their abstract in the designated themes in 500 words.
The abstract should be submitted online at www.rgniyd.gov.in

Guidelines for Submission of Abstract / Full Length Paper


 Follow the mentioned order when typing manuscript: Title, Authors, Affiliation,
Abstract, Keywords, Main text, Acknowledgements, Appendix and References.
 Font size – 12
 Font Style – Times New Roman
 Line space – 1.5
 All heading including title should be 14
 Margins must be of ’1’ inch on all sides.
 Content should be in English and typed in Microsoft Word application.

Abstract
 Abstract should not exceed 500 words
 Text containing rationale, research method, results and discourse
 Key words should be given

Full Length Paper


 The length of full paper including tables, diagrams, illustrations, references etc.

should be between 5000 to 6000 words.


 All photographs, charts and diagrams are to be referred to as “Figures” and
should be numbered consecutively in the order to which they are referred in the
text.
 Bibliographical references should be arranged alphabetically and given at the
end of the text in the APA format only.
 The selected papers will be published in an edited book.
 Papers and abstracts will only be accepted for review on the condition that the
manuscript has not been published, has not been presented or accepted for
presentation at professional meetings, and is not currently under review for
presentation at other professional meetings.
The last date for the submission of the abstract is 15th April, 2011

Registration fee includes the cost of conference kit, boarding and lodging during the
conference period (22 – 25th November, 2011). On the spot registration is not
encouraged.

Overseas Delegates
The International delegates are encouraged to look for sponsorship from their parent
organizations or may be from other sources. To obtain the necessary documents for visa
application, please contact to organizing secretary of the conference with the following
details - Name of Person (as per passport). Passport No., Date of Issue, Date of Expiry,
Place of Issue.

Mode of payment
Registration fee must be paid in the form of demand draft drawn in favour of the
Director, Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD) payable at
Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Demand draft can be drawn in any of the nationalised bank.
Name and address of the delegate should be written on the reverse side of the demand
draft.

Acceptance of Abstract – By 25.04.2011


A committee will review the abstract. After the scrutiny, confirmation of acceptance of
abstract shall be communicated through email to the main author subsequently.
Submission of full length paper – By 15.09.2011
On the receipt of the acceptance of the abstract, authors are requested to submit the full
length paper in about 5000 – 6000 words in electronic format with same style sheet
used for abstract.

Conference Proceedings
The full length paper will be reviewed by a peer review committee and selected papers
will be shortlisted for oral presentation and those papers will be published in the edited
volume.

Travel support
Travel support will be extended to paper presenters those who submit full length paper.
3 A.C. train fares will be provided as per eligibility. If the paper is co—authored, only
one person Travel Allowance (TA) will be reimbursed. To claim TA, delegates are
suggested to retain used tickets for verification. Overseas participants will not get any
travel support, however every overseas participant will get local hospitality free of cost
which includes accommodation and food during the conference days.

Local Hospitality
Local hospitality of all paper presenters will be taken care. Boarding and lodging
facilities will be made available for all the days during conference. Lodging will be in
twin sharing basis.

Venue of the Conference


The Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD) is situated in
sprawling 40 acres in Sriperumbudur which is 40 k.m away from Chennai city. To reach
the conference venue, it will take approximately 90 minutes drive by bus from Chennai
railway station and from Chennai airport it is 60 minutes drive by car. The weather
condition in Sriperumbudur during November is moderate and the average
temperature would be 25 - 28 degree Celsius. Kancheepuram is known as one of the
temple city of Tamil Nadu which is famous for quality silk products. It lures the
participants to have a visit to the historical place.
