Are You Ready For The Globalization Era?

Actually the idea came up when my friend (a social subject teacher

exactly) did her speech in front of the other teachers and students
during the flag caremony. The speech was about 'pasar bebas' siapkah
kita?

We are now in the era of globalization.

Is Indonesia ready for this era? I don't think so.

For example me myself. I haven't ready yet, because i was not prepare
for that.

Of course I thank God I have the opportunity to work in a good place,

to teach in a good school which has good facilities, and also the chance
to work together with expatriate staff. However to compete with them,
especially in teaching my subject in English, my ability is still poor.

And to hire an expatriate staff means that the school has to pay much
much money compared with the local teacher. In my thinking if
Indonesia has teachers who have very good English, can teach subject
in English well, the schools don't need to import expatriate subject
teacher and the salary can go to the local teachers. Imagine how much
money the local teacher will have?

Now, the question is why the schools need to hire expatriate teachers?
Because the school wants to deliver the learning process in English.
Why not in Bahasa Indonesia? The students will be understand better if
the lesson is conduct in Bahasa Indonesia. Yah that was my thinking
also.

The rationale is back to the era. Now we are in the globalization era. In
the next era, the generation will face the reality that they should
compete with the employee from whatever country in the world. The
generation from our neighbor country is prepared well to compete in
this global market era.

Couple of weeks ago, I had a conversation with one of an expatriate

staff who is from Holland.

Holland is one of the colonizer of our beloved country Indonesia. He

teach English.
Even he is not from United State but he has a very good English and
has the capability to teach English in the school.

I asked him how many languages that he is able to speak and I little bit
surprise when he answered that he can speak 5 languages fluently
those are English, Dutch, Spain, Germany and Bahasa Indonesia. I
underline the word fluently because he is not only can understand but
also good in speaking and writing in those languages.

I said, you are very great because of that ability. He said no, then he
explained that most of people in Holland can speak in more than 3
languages. Since Holland is a small country, the government prepare
the pupils to be able to use more than 3 languages, at least Dutch,
English, Spain as they prepare themselves to go overseas and also
work overseas.

What about Indonesian????

I think all of you know the answer. So, think about that!! How can we
compete with people in the world if we don't have the ability to
communicate at least in English. What about our next generation????

Lets imagine, in the next 10 years, there will be so many expatriate

employees come to Indonesia and look for jobs in our country. How if
good company who can pay good salary to improve the company will
use the overseas employee? What about our generation?

English proficiency is very important ability that needs to be taught for

our generation. But the question is ... are the students (Indonesian
Teachers) ready with the demand????????????? I'm still going to catch
that....

So... If we don't prepare those small things start from NOW... kapan
lagi???????????

And as teachers, we have a very big job to educate the generation.

C'mon teachers... lets greet the challenge!!!!
Teachers.... we are the nation changer.... we are building this
generation.... lets think about this.... lets prepare the generation in this
era....

Don't ever let other country colonize our beloved Indonesia anymore!!!

MERDEKA!!!!!
