Service Projects:
Jesus said in Mark 9:41
“anyone who gives you a cup of wa-
ter in my name because you belong to
Christ will certainly not lose his re-
ward.”

Part of or program “School of Disciple-

ship” is to do service projects. The most
recent one was a camping trip, there
were a few staff families that came
along. We were able help out a Chris-
tian camp by cleaning up some shrub-
bery and make a retaining wall to pre- Group picture with everyone who went camping:D

the ground. We slept in cabins and had
devotions on Saturday and Sunday
morning which were very spiritually edi-
fying. Here are some pictures of us dig-
ging and building that retaining wall and
also singing a few songs before the de-
votion that was on “Gods love for His
Children.” The Lord has also given us
the opportunity to serve in our home Praising the Lord on Saturday! Getting ready to Serve:)
community.
Mission Arlington is a Ministry that takes Church to the people. They provide second hand goods
to low income family in the Dallas area.

Mission Arlington, is lo-
cated in downtown Arlington,
Texas. When we got there,
they split our group of about
17 into three main job
groups: Pick up and Delivery,
Carnival, and Distribution.
I was on a pick up and deliv-
ery team. Michael, Hope and
I were on a team together
(Michael and Hope are two
other students that are in my
program).
First we went to pick up do-
nated: furniture, clothes,
toys, etc. Then we distributed
to needy families in very low
income apartments.
By doing this, the ministry
then has a chance to start a
bible study or small fellow-
ship in the apartment com-
plex.
Some of the other students
helped serve at a carnival
that was put on by the minis-
try.
News from the Field: Temple Priest Leads Couple to True Healer
November 20, 2009
A tumor was growing in Mad-
huri Jhadav's abdomen. Her
husband, Mrigesh, asked vari-
ous temple priests to conduct
poojas (ritual prayers) on her
behalf, but the amount of
money they demanded was
too extravagant for the couple
to afford.
Mrigesh wouldn't give up,
though. He went back to Kavi-
raj, one of the priests he had
approached before, desperate
for a cure for Madhuri, but
something was different this
time. Kaviraj told Mrigesh that
he was no longer a temple
priest, but a follower of Jesus
instead.
Since the last time Mrigesh
had seen him, Kaviraj said, he
had become severely sick. His
daughter, a believer in Christ,
“I am so thankful that God has given me the privilege to work in the warehouse

people prayed," that Kaviraj
was completely healed, he ex-

ready to lead Mrigesh and his

Kaviraj took them to a prayer
meeting and introduced them
to the pastor who was leading
it. Mrigesh asked the pastor to
pray for his wife, and when he
did, Madhuri was miraculously
healed. It was on that day that Temple priests, like this one, are

Class Time:
One of the books that we have study in my classes is called “The
Calvary Road” by Roy Hession. “Humility” seemed to be the main sub-
jected in the book. Hession really makes a point of how prideful many
Christians have become. Before reading the book, I was in denial. I
thought pride wasn’t a big deal to me and my walk with the Lord. When
Hession points out 1 Peter 5:5 “God opposes the proud but gives grace
to the humble” The Holy Spirit used that to really show me how prideful I
really am. After we finish “The Calvary Road” we began studying one of
Danny Lemann’s books called “Before You Hit the Wall” which discusses
spiritual disciplines.

We are almost through with this book and it has helped me so

much. Some of the very practical things I have been learning are as sim- Matt Selay teaching us:)
ple as setting attainable goals. Also the different way to use the bible;
reading through, studying, meditating and memorizing. These different
methods of using God’s word have really enhanced my quiet time with
