Basic Framing Package
Every Dingshang Steel Homes begins with a basic framing package. The frame of your house
is the skeleton that supports everything else, like the walls, roof, and so on, and it is the key
element in withstanding the external forces like wind that constantly stress your home. You
can use our framing package to support traditional materials like brick walls and shingle roofs,
you can combine these materials with our many siding and roofing options, or you can choose
our complete dry-in package and enjoy the benefits of an all steel home.
A basic Dingshang Steel Homes framing package is composed of primary and secondary
structural framing and exterior wall framing. The structural framing includes the main
columns and rafters, roof purlins, ceiling rafters, and, where applicable, second-story floor
joists. The roof framing includes cross members called "hat channels" to support 3/4"
plywood decking (decking not supplied by KSH). The exterior wall framing consists of 6"
galvanized 18-gauge steel studs to be set on 16" centers and enough additional track and
studs to frame the windows and doors indicated in our suggested floor plan (a few models
have eight-inch studs on some walls).
Primary part
We fabricate our column and rafter beams to precise lengths, depths, and thicknesses as
specified in the structural plans for your home. Then we punch the proper bolt-hole patterns
in the connecting plates and clips (smaller plates used to connect two or more framing
components together) and weld them in place on the columns and rafters so these
components arrive on your job site ready for a quick bolt-together assembly.
Secondary Structural Framing

In addition to the main frames, Dingshang Homes frame system also contains secondary
structural framing and exterior wall framing. Secondary framing includes members like roof
purlins, ceiling joists, and eave struts, which help support localized dead loads or live loads
(for example, the weight of the roofing materials or a person working on the roof) and serve
to transfer loads to the main frames and to stabilize the structure. Our secondary framing is
mostly comprised of "cold-formed" members which are made by stamping or pressing steel
at room temperature into a desired shape (often a "C" or "Z" shape) and then cutting it to
length and punching it with the correct bolt-hole pattern. Both cold-formed and hot-rolled
members are referred to as "red iron" because of their red-oxide primer finish.
Wall assembling in the factory:

1. The steel stud will be assembled to form a whole steel wall in the factory.
2. The steel stud will be assembled to form a whole roof truss in the factory if
you require.
3. The exterior cladding, OSB board and windows can also be installed to form
a whole wall panel in the factory.

Steel Roof Packages

Each of our Steel Homes kits has an optional steel roof package. It is designed to provide a
leak-free no-maintenance system that is attractive, durable, and economical. Our roofing
systems consist of PBR or PBU panels of 26-gauge 80,000 psi steel sheet and assorted trim
elements of 24-gauge 50,000 psi steel sheet. Both are finished with a paint system over a
Galvalume substrate. Each package comes complete with all the necessary fasteners and
closures.

High-Quality Siding
Dingshang Steel Homes kits are available with a variety of steel siding packages.
Manufactured by Rollex, our steel siding has a horizontal-lap (clapboard) profile with a
handsome wood-grain relief. Unlike the builder-grade vinyl siding that is so common today,
this high-quality product won't rattle in the wind or sag over time. Available in a variety of
popular colors, it is finished with a fused PVC outer coating over a bake-bonded primer. Rollex
guarantees that this steel siding will not blister, peel, chip, flake, or rust with a 50-year
manufacturer's warranty that includes supplemental hail coverage, ensuring that your walls
will stay beautiful for decades.

Ready to Install
Our siding packages come complete with fasteners, starter strips, and all necessary trim. The
steel siding can be attached to an exterior wall sheathing like plywood, OSB board, or
GeorgiaPacific's fireproof Densglass (recommended), but you do not have to use sheathing at
all on a Steel Homes kit. Wood-framed homes must have sheathing to prevent the walls from
"racking" under a shearing force. The dingshang Steel Homes framing system is engineered
to provide sufficient shear strength to the walls without sheathing, so you can attach your
siding (or brick ties, etc.) directly to the frame and save the expense of sheathing while
meeting your building code requirements.
Aluminum and Vinyl Soffit

Soffit covers the underside of overhangs and porches (for example, it is the "ceiling" of a
porch). To allow proper air circulation, we supply vented soffit panels. If your home order
does not include siding, you may choose either aluminum or vinyl soffit. With steel siding, we
will supply aluminum soffit. Our aluminum soffit panels are made from .019 mil-thickness
3105-grade aluminum alloy with a baked-on acrylic finish.
Insulation Wrap
Thermal Penetration
The most frequently cited problem with steel framing is the potential for what's called
"thermal penetration." Steel conducts energy (heat, electricity, etc.) about 200 times more
efficiently then wood. If there is a clear pathway between the steel framing and the outside
environment, heat will flow very rapidly through the metal towards the cooler area. It will
flow in during summer and out during winter. To stop this unwanted heat transfer, you need
a "thermal break," or a barrier between the frame and the outside. Reflective foil insulation
performs this task very effectively.
Thermal Break
We supply reflective foil insulation for both the walls and roof of all Dingshang Steel Homes®
models. This insulation system consists of thin blankets which are installed between the
frame and the outer wall and roof coverings (siding, steel roof panels, decking, etc.). These
blankets wrap the entire house and provide an effective barrier to thermal penetration. In the
years we have been selling homes, we have never had a customer complain of heat transfer
problems; in fact, we have countless reports from people that our homes are exceptionally
energy efficient.
Radiant Barrier
Most unwanted heat transfer in a house occurs by radiation, and typical mass insulation
products have virtually no effect on it. On the other hand, reflective foil insulation can almost
totally stop radiant transfer. It is made of two layers of aluminum foil with an inert material in
between them. Aluminum foil reflects 97% of the radiant heat that strikes it, which is why it
covers so many of the materials used in outer space (gold foil is also used in space because
it is an even more efficient heat reflector). The inert material creates an air space that
prevents heat being transferred between the foil layers by conduction. Reflective foil
insulation will have a dramatic impact on your home's energy efficiency. For example, a foil
blanket in a roof can mean a 20 degree difference in attic temperature during summer.
Gutters and Downspouts
We offer steel gutters and downspouts for each Dingshang Steel Homes® model. The package
includes 4-inch steel gutter for the eaves, and a 4-inch steel downspout for each corner. Both
are made of 24-gauge 50,000psi steel sheet with a Kynar paint system over a Galvalume
substrate. The Kynar paint system, which carries a twenty-year manufacturer's warranty, is
the finest steel finish available and will will perform for decades without fading, peeling, or
cracking. You may choose gutter and downspout colors separately.
Floor Joist System

Standard Dingshang Steel Homes® framing packages are designed to be built over a slab
floor. If you want to build over a basement, crawlspace, or stem wall, you will need one of our
optional steel floor-joist systems. We have a specially designed floor system for each of our
home models that includes a steel support beam and heavy-gauge floor and rim joists. The
system is engineered for standard residential loads up to two stories and is intended to
support the floor decking of living space only. It is not designed for heavy-duty loads like cars
and boats and cannot be used to support the flooring of a garage.
Interior decoration
Dingshang steel houses will supply all the wood floor, ceramic tiles, gypsum board for
wall/roof and finished paint for gyosum board.
