Mission Statement. For the Deaf And Hard-of-Hearing

Creating Opportunities for Deaf & Hearing Impaired Young Men.

MISSION.
In a new and exciting initiative, Yeshiva Nefesh Dovid (YND) is raising funds to train its graduates to
master a unique computer program with jewelry industry applications. This training will prepare these
deaf and hard of hearing young men for successful careers and independent lives.

YESHIVAS NEFESH DOVID.

The first Jewish high school of its kind in the world, Yeshivas Nefesh Dovid, founded in 2001, channels
the knowledge of Torah into the hearts, minds and lives of deaf and hard-of-hearing young men.
YND, with its sterling secular educational program, is a valuable support system for this population
throughout the global Jewish community. YND accepts young men in their teens from yeshivos,
Jewish Day Schools, and public schools and addresses all the emotional and academic challenges
that those with hearing loss typically deal with on a daily basis regardless of mode of communication.
In addition to trained and qualified rebbeim and teachers, sign language interpreting services, speech
pathology, audiology services and an array of recreational activities all complement the program.
Upon graduation, the students receive an internationally recognized Ontario Secondary Diploma.
Since its inception, YND’s current home base at the Yeshiva Gedolah of Toronto only serves to
further integrate the students with hearing peers and the community at large.

THE MATRIX TRAINING LAB INITIATIVE.

There is a growing demand for 3D computer aided jewelery design. Jewelers depend on 3D
programmers to translate sketches and specs into 3D digital models. These models are made using
a sophisticated, yet accessible software called MATRIX (based on Rhino/Cad) by GEMVISION.
These 3D digital models, once completed, are sent to a "Wax Model Printer" that will output a real
world WAX model of the design ready for casting into finished jewelry.

YND intends to raise the funds necessary to equip the lab with the required computers and software
to give these young men a leading edge in the world of 3D Jewelry modeling. Most importantly
is the need to hire a professional trainer to teach these specialized skills to the Yeshiva's young
,
men. Michael Banai, an Orthodox Jew living in Toronto, is a full time MATRIX designer/programmer/
jeweller. He is an ideal candidate to teach the students to master this software. He would also be a
great partner in developing professional contacts within the industry and act as an intermediate to
field the requests of jewelers who send their orders to the lab.

YOUR SUPPORT.
Most of us cannot imagine going through life without sound, yet with the proper education and
professional training, life for the deaf and hearing impaired can be professionally meaningful and
successful. This is an important opportunity to contribute to making this initiative a reality in the lives
of these young men. In the world of computer design and 3D modelling they are on an equal footing
with the rest of the workplace: with your help, they will have have everything they need to succeed!

Matrix 3D Jewelry For the Deaf And Hard-of-Hearing

Design Software.
For over twenty years, Gemvision has been closely examining the tools and concepts that work best for
jewelry designers producing the most efficient, flexible, and creative upgrade yet with Matrix 6.

Jeff High, president of Gemvision, states, “Designing a piece of jewelry takes you down many design
paths. Ideally you want to be able to explore all of those ideas and see your options in real time as
you design while getting all the subtle details just right. Matrix 6 for Rhino 4.0 makes that a reality and
becomes an interactive part of your creative thought.”

Since it’s founding over 20 years ago by a retail jeweler, Gemvision has always been a company of
jewelers helping other jewelers use technology to express their creativity and enhance their bottom line.
This latest version of the innovative jewelry plug-in takes the core capabilities of Rhino 4.0 to a whole
new level. Matrix 6 lets you design beautiful virtual 3D jewelry that can then be output to any CAM
device.

MATRIX HIGHLIGHTS:
Taught at over 15 educational institutions worldwide.
Named “Business Product of the Year” by the Technology Association of Iowa.
MJSA Innovation Award Winner for V-Ray for Matrix rendering capability.
Voted the #1 choice among CAD/CAM professionals in the MJSA Tech Survey.

These are examples of the 3D renders capable of being produced using Matrix.
