ABOUT CLIFTONS ART PRIZE

In keeping with its focus on the importance and impact of surrounding environments,
Cliftons has a strong commitment to the visual arts and aims at supporting emerging artists.

Finalists will have their works displayed for public viewing at Cliftons’ training venues.
State and Regional Prizes will be awarded at presentation evenings between May – July
2011. The International Grand Prize, as judged from amongst the finalists, will be
announced in mid-July 2011.

International Grand Prize Winner, along with State and Regional finalists will have their
works of art featured on Cliftons’ website.

PRIZE POOL
International Cliftons Prize Winner will be awarded a Total Prize Pool of $10,000. State and
Regional Winners will automatically be shortlisted for the coveted Cliftons International Prize.

State Winners will be awarded $2,000 for winning entries from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane,
Canberra, Adelaide and Perth.

Regional Winners will be awarded $2,000 for winning entries from New Zealand – Auckland
and Wellington, Hong Kong and Singapore.

ACQUISITION OF ART
The artworks of the International, State and Regional Winners will be acquired by Cliftons
for display and will form part of the permanent Cliftons Art Collection.

Finalists’ paintings are available for private or corporate acquisition.

HOW TO ENTER
• Artists can enter one or more works of art, with a maximum of 3 entries.
• Entries must be received 27 April 2011. Entries received after this date will not be
eligible for judging.
• All artists must submit a completed online entry form and an image of the artwork
via www.cliftons.com/cliftons-art-award.

DIARY DATES
27 April: Submission closes. Entries must be submitted on the Cliftons Website
by 5pm Australian Eastern Standard Time, 5pm Western Standard Time,
5pm New Zealand Standard Time, 5pm Hong Kong Standard Time
and 5pm Singapore Standard Time.

2 – 11 May: Judging in Progress.

12 May: Finalists will be shortlisted from each State or Region, and contacted
by Cliftons via email. Finalists’ names will be published on the
Cliftons website.

INTERNATIONAL GRAND PRIZE

International Grand Prize will be announced in mid-July 2011. Date, time and venue will
be published online.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
1. INTERPRETATION
1.1 In these terms and conditions:
1.1.1 “Artist” means the creator of the Artwork.
1.1.2 “Artwork” means a piece of artwork created by
an Artist, submitted in the Cliftons Art Prize.
1.1.3 “Cliftons” means Cliftons Operations Pty
Limited A.C.N. 109 332 925.
1.1.4 “Cliftons Art Prize” means art prize run by Cliftons
governed by these terms and conditions.
1.1.5 “Cliftons Website” means www.cliftons.com.
1.1.6 “Entry” means a fully completed entry form and
a photograph of the Artwork, submitted by the
Artist on the Cliftons Website.
1.1.7 “Region” means each of Auckland, Wellington,
Hong Kong and Singapore.
1.1.8 “State” means each of Sydney, Melbourne,
Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide and Perth.
2. ENTRY
2.1 An Entry must be submitted on the Cliftons Website
by 27 April 2011, by 5pm Australian Eastern Standard
Time, 5pm Western Standard Time, 5pm New Zealand
Standard Time, 5pm Hong Kong Standard Time and
5pm Singapore Standard Time.
2.2 Any photograph of the Artwork must be a minimum of
500 x 500 pixels @72dpi.
2.3 The file name of the photograph of the Artwork must
correspond with the title of the work on the entry form,
submitted by the Artist on the Cliftons Website.
2.4 Each Artist is permitted to enter more than one Entry,
but no more than three Entries.
3. ARTWORK
3.1 Each Artwork must be larger than 30cm x 60cm.
3.2 Each Artwork must be available for sale.
3.3 Finalists of the Cliftons Art Prize will be notified on 12
May 2011, via email.
3.4 Finalists of the Cliftons Art Prize must deliver their
original Artwork to their nearest Cliftons Training Venue,
the location of which may be found on the Cliftons
Website.
3.5 The Artist’s name, address, contact details, the title of
the Artwork and the medium must be clearly marked on
the reverse of the Artwork.
3.6 Cliftons will display the finalist’s Artworks at Cliftons
Training Venues. The Winner’s Artworks will form part
of the permanent Cliftons Art Collection and will be
available for sale. Non-winning paintings will need to
be collected by the artists.
3.7 The State and Regional and International award winners
will be announced during presentation evenings.
4. PRIZES
4.1 Each Regional winner will be awarded AUD$2,000.00.
4.2 Each State winner will be awarded AUD$2,000.00.
4.3 Each International winner will be awarded a total
amount of AUD$10,000.00.
4.4 Each winner is responsible for any and all applicable
taxes on prize money.
5. LOSS OR DAMAGE
5.1 Cliftons will not be responsible for any loss or damage
suffered whatsoever to any Artwork while in transit or
under the control of Cliftons.
5.2 Each Artist will indemnify Cliftons against all losses,
liabilities, claims and expenses arising out of or in any
way connected to any loss or damage suffered to the
Artwork created by that Artist.
5.3 Each Artist is responsible for his/her own insurance cover.
6. COSTS
6.1 Freight costs and all other charges relating to the
delivery and collection of each Artwork entered into the
Cliftons Art Prize is the sole responsibility of the Artist
that created that Artwork.
7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
7.1 Each Artist warrants that the Artist does not breach any
international copyright laws.
7.2 Any infringement of copyright laws by an Artist will be
the sole responsibility of that Artist.
7.3 Each Artist will indemnify Cliftons against all losses,
liabilities, claims and expenses arising out of or in any
way connected to any breach of intellectual property
rights in relation to the Artwork created by that Artist.
7.4 Each Artist selected as a finalist authorises Cliftons to
publish their Artwork free of copyright, totally or partly,
in all publications (catalogues, folders, posters, slide
shows, media releases, brochures, etc) related to this art
prize, as well as on the Cliftons Website.
8. DISQUALIFICATION
8.1 Cliftons reserves the right in its sole discretion to
disqualify any individual whom Cliftons has reason to
believe has breached any of these terms and conditions,
or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct
which may jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of
the Cliftons Art Prize. Cliftons reserves the right to seek
damages and relief from all persons responsible for
such acts. Cliftons decision to disqualify any individual
is final and there is no right of appeal.
8.2 A disqualified Artist will not be eligible for any prize
money.
9. PROMOTIONAL USE OF ARTWORK
9.1 Each Artist agrees to allow Cliftons the unconditional
use of the Artwork owned by that Artist for promotions,
media, advertising and announcements without
compensation, consideration, notice, review or consent
where permitted.
9.2 Each Artist may be asked to provide high-resolution
file of the photograph of their Artwork for promotional
material.
10. JUDGES AND DECISION
10.1 Cliftons shall appoint judges who shall decide each
winner. No Artist has any say about who is appointed
as a judge. The decision of the judges appointed by
Cliftons is final. There is no right of appeal. The judges
are not obliged to give any reason for their decision.
10.2 All decisions regarding the interpretation of matters
including rules and eligibility will be made by Cliftons
in Cliftons’ sole discretion.
10.3 Cliftons will not enter into correspondence regarding
the award winners.
11. GENERAL
11.1 Employees of Cliftons and their immediate family
members and associated agencies and companies of
Cliftons are not eligible to enter the Cliftons Art Prize.
