Created in August 1943, the FEB (Brazilian Expeditionary Force) had 25,334
soldiers fighting alongside the Allies in World War II. They served in northern
Italy, where it was incorporated into the 5th U.S. Army.
Initially consisting of one Infantry Division, also included the Navy and Air Force
troops, with men and women involved in the war effort.
Remained in combat for 239 days, facing ten German and three Italian
divisions, with approximately 3000 wounded soldiers and 443 dead.
The Brazilian forces had little time to be prepared, facing cold up to 25 degrees
Celsius below zero. This did not stop them to carry out their role with emphasis,
being victorious in eight major battles and making about 25,000 German
prisoners.

Please, if you like this message and are interested on this matter, feel free to
call me by e-mail or even by phone. My wife and me just Love World War II
history and we are not PhD on that. Ana has a focus on Women Army Corps,
and I am impressed with D-Day and Brazilian Expeditionary Force. We had
chance to visit Normandy twice (June 2004 and June 2009).
