Read the text.

My name is Pedro and last year I spent my Christmas holidays in a little

village called Appenzell, in the mountains in Switzerland. We stayed at my
aunt’s house. We travelled by plane. My parents used their frequent flyer card,
so the trip was really cheap. Appenzell is a car-free village. You can’t drive
cars there, so you see a lot of people riding their bicycles or walking in town.
There is also a small red train to take you to other villages or cities.
What I loved about Appenzell were the houses and buildings. They have beautiful paintings on
the walls. They are really special! Two days before Christmas, we all went to “Chlaus” Market. It is
a Christmas market where you can buy beautiful gifts and souvenirs. My aunt also took us to see
the castle and the Cheese Factory. It is one of the most famous cheese factories in the world. Oh…
and did you know that the Appenzell Museum is also the Town Hall?

Yesterday I got up and went to buy some things in town. In the morning, I went to buy some boots at the shoe
shop. This shoe shop opened last week. It is next to the church. Then, I stopped to buy my two favourite
magazines and the newspaper for my husband at the newsagent’s near my house. In the afternoon, I had to
go to the stationer’s next to the Town Hall to get more notebooks and pens for my younger son. After that, I
went to the florist’s across the street and I bought a bouquet of flowers for my best friend’s birthday. Finally, I
went to the train station to pick up my daughter. She arrived from university on the 6 o’clock train. It was a
very busy day.
