Alliance Healthcare Foundation Funds 17 Local Organizations with Mission Support

Grants
Alliance Healthcare Foundation (AHF) announced today the recipients of nearly $1
,000,000 in Mission Support Grants. AHF is committed to serving the most vulnera
ble populations in the San Diego area through funding projects and programs that
address access to healthcare, with a focus on increasing the capacity and coord
ination of the healthcare delivery system.
San Diego, CA, April 02, 2011 -- Alliance Healthcare Foundation (AHF) announced
today the recipients of nearly $1,000,000 in Mission Support Grants. AHF is comm
itted to serving the most vulnerable populations in the San Diego area through f
unding projects and programs that address access to healthcare, with a focus on
increasing the capacity and coordination of the healthcare delivery system. The
programs selected to receive Mission Support Grants improve access to primary an
d specialty care, mental health and substance abuse services, and use innovative
and collaborative methods to get real results.
The Mission Support Grants Program is an invitational program. Qualifying agenci
es must be operationally stable with strong leadership and have demonstrated the
ir commitment to increasing the capacity of the healthcare delivery system for t
he poor and vulnerable populations of San Diego.
â Over the last year, Alliance Healthcare Foundation has focused on streamlining our
processes and reducing our overhead costs by nearly 50 percent to get more fundi
ng to organizations and programs that are improving the lives of those in need,â sai
d Rob McCray, Chairman of the AHF Board. â We are committed to the principle that eve
ryone should have access to appropriate, quality, and timely care. We seek to pa
rtner with organizations that further this goal. Our ultimate measure of success
will be improvements in health outcomes for the individuals and families who ar
e served by a more robust healthcare safety net and strong public health infrast
ructure in our region.â

3. Clinicas de Salud del Pueblo
4. Council of Community Clinics
5. ElderHelp of San Diego
6. Horn of Africa Community in North America
7. INFO LINE of San Diego County
8. International Rescue Committee, Inc.
9. UCSD Student Run Free Clinic Project
10. San Diego County Medical Society Foundation
11. San Diego Rescue Mission
12. San Diego Second Chance Program
13. Shakti Rising
14. Somali Family Service of San Diego
15. St. Vincent de Paul Village, Inc.
16. The Campanile Foundation
17. Vietnam Veterans of San Diego dba Veterans Village of San Diego
You will have the opportunity to learn more about the grantees and their respect
ive programs starting April 1 in the Alliance Healthcare Foundation Community Fo
rum. Each organization will lead the community in a discussion regarding importa
nt topics in our community. The Community Forum is meant to drive ideas forward
into action, creating solutions that promote the health and wellness of underser
ved and vulnerable populations in the San Diego region. The quality of the discu
ssions in the forum will weigh heavily on the allocation of AHF Mission Support
Grants in 2012.
