Accurately using There are spelling

language and mistakes in the
register article. The questions
do not appear to
follow on from each
other and doesn’t
really flow. Front
cover and contents
do have a certain
register appealing to
teen audience.
Appropriately The majority of
integrating images have relating
illustration and text such as the front
text cover and double
page spread.
However random
images of the main

really have any

in fonts and text These are all used in
size the same way (a

Little consideration
of sizing. Appears
most of the text is the

front cover and
contents page.
Using ICT There is a basic

pages could have
been produced
without the use of
Photoshop though.

Summary
Front cover
- More care needs to be taken when cutting around the image; overall it’s done to a good standard but
watch around the head. (The use of an eraser tool could work around this or even a blur tool to make
it appear less obvious)
-Either the main image or masthead needs adjusting in colour. At the minute the masthead name is
very much disappearing into the artists head and is making it difficult to read.
-Unsure about the use of purple in the colour palette-red white and black would be a good choice as a
3 but the purple seems a bit random and off theme?
-There is no obvious effort into editing the photo, looks a standard quality-play around with lighting
and contrast to achieve a more professional photograph. Also the lighting is quite poor and is
darkened on the face which results in our attention being focused on the guitar rather than the artists
face
-Custom fonts give the page a very unprofessional look, it also has very little association with the
genre that is trying to be achieved.. Furthermore there is limited sizing of text which is slightly
confusing to the reader, results in the main cover line blending in with the cover lines. Giving the
magazine no particular selling point.
-Again, problems with the choice of colour of text against the image, means it is hard to understand
what the text actually says.

Contents page
-Seems to be trying to follow some sort of layout however everything is too big (pictures, text,
borders)
-Borders are cutting off letters of words which means sentences don’t make sense; this gives the page
a very unprofessional look.
-No consideration of sizing: the page numbers and brief summary are the same font and size, without
the use of colour it would be very unclear between the difference in page title and description.
-custom fonts give the page a very unprofessional look and don’t really tie in with a specific genre of
music.
-Photos are of a standard quality, not at all at professional standard you would expect to see in a
magazine. Furthermore there are no obvious signs of manipulation in the photographs.
-In the black and white photo mise en scen seems not to be applied. Poor lighting makes it difficult to
see the image, objects in the photo have no relevance to the article (if they do it is not made obvious).
Location again, has no relevance to the article and looks randomly taken.
-In what the magazine is offering, it seems too brief. Unaware if the page is just highlighting main
selling points or the entire content of the magazine.. There is no immediate drawing of attention and
so, makes it quite confusing to read.

Double Page spread

-Images in the background are not persons own, unsure whether that is even allowed.
-I don’t like the location of the shot, the blinds in the background of one of the images really does
give away that the artist is in a bedroom or study. This is not a location I’d expect to see from a
successful artist.
-Where are the page numbers?
-The interview seems as though someone has generated a list of questions and is asking one after
another. There is no consideration of the artists answer to the previous question. Makes the article
boring, lifeless and rigid.
