FAQ

1. I am an approved bidding customer of a particular auction. How do I  
       participate in the auction? 
On the date of the auction you will have to log into http://auction.buyjunction.in 
  and login through your given user id and password and follow the norms      
  communicated by   us to your email id prior to the auction through‐ 
a) Auction Notice/RFQ‐ Auction schedule, material list, and auction terms and conditions. 
b) Template calculation sheet/Mass bid Tool‐if applicable 
c) Premium/Discount calculation sheet – if applicable 
d) Loading factor calculation sheet – if applicable 
e) Training Module‐ Directions for bidding. 
f) Calculation Sheet‐ if applicable 

      2. What is user‐id and password? How will I receive it? 
  Your user id and password are the keywords through which you can login to our 
auction site and place your bid for any auction. Initially it is communicated to your 
email id through a system generated mail. You have to change your password after 
your first login to proceed further for security reasons. Please note that the 
confidentiality of the password is your responsibility; mj or the client are not liable for 
misuse of the same if any. Also your changed password has to be of minimum 8 
characters. (Special characters are not allowed.) 
 
3. How do I retrieve my password if I have forgotten it? 
  You need to enter our website http://auction.buyjunction.in & click on forgot password 
link then enter your User code & registered e‐mail id. Once you do this, your changed 
password is automatically sent to your registered e‐mail id thru’ a system generated 
mail. 

4. Can more than one person log in at the same time using my user id and 
password? 
  No. Multiple login with the same user id is not possible. The moment the second 
      person logs in simultaneously with the same user id and password, the first person 
      will be logged out. We have implemented this system for your security purpose. 
 
5. How can I accept the Terms and Conditions of the Auction online? 
a) You have to log into our website http://auction.buyjunction.in through your user id and 
password.

b) Then put your cursor on the icon “Auction Terms”. 
c) In the dropdown that appears click on “View” 
d) Then click on the relevant Auction Term applicable for the auction, and go through the 
terms. 
e) Next click on the “Accept”/Reject (as applicable) button on the right and the check box 
on the left hand corner. 
f) Lastly click the “Submit” button. 
g) You will not be allowed to proceed to the next stage for participation in any auction till 
such time you accept the terms and conditions online. 
h) Please note that as per our company’s environment policy you do not have to fax to us 
your accepted declaration form. 
 
6. Whom should I contact in case I need some clarification related to the 
Auction Notice, Bidding Process prior to the start of the auction? 
           You will have to contact the executor whose name, email id and phone number  
            details are mentioned in the email through which we had communicated the 
            Auction Notice and other details for a particular auction to you.  
 
7. How do I know about the schedule of an auction? 
  The schedule of an auction is mentioned in the Auction Notice sent by us to your  
      email id. In case there is any change in the schedule, the same is communicated to 
      you through either email/SMS/Phone calls. You are always suggested to keep your 
  mailbox free and take note of the emails received from our end prior to the auction, 
  during the auction and after the auction. 
 
8. Can the auction duration get extended through manual time extension? 
          For PSU client auctions 
           During the Price Negotiation stage, there can be a manual run time extension in   
           auction duration only when  
a) No bid is registered in the market within the scheduled run time of the market. 
b) Market registers only a single bid  
c) Any infrastructure problem affecting majority of the participants happens. 
 
           For Private and International client auctions 
  During the Price Negotiation stage, there can be a manual run time extension in   
             auction duration only on  
a) Receipt of directive from the Client to extend the run time 
b) No bid is registered in the market within the scheduled run time of the market. 
c) Market registers only a single bid  
d) Any infrastructure problem affecting majority of the participants happen.

9.     How do I download the Auction Notice? 
a) In order to download the auction notice you have to log in with your user id and 
password in our website http://auction.buyjunction.in first. 
b) Then click on the “Download Button” 
c) Then click on “View” 
d) The desired auction notice has to be clicked to view the details. 

10.    How do I login and practice in the Demo Auction site? 
           You have to log into http://demoauction.buyjunction.in using your demo user id and  
           password, communicated to you through email intimation on demo auction. 

11.    What should I do when I face any problem during the auction? 
           You should only call up the Auction Room Numbers to clarify your doubts or for  
            any assistance when the auction is in progress. All incoming and outgoing calls to 
            and from the auction room are recorded. The auction room numbers are‐ 
           033 66011721/66011722/ 66011723/ 66011724 / 66011725/66011728/66011729. 
 
12. What is price basis?
This is the basis based on which price has to be quoted by you during the online auction.
Detail clarification on the same is available in the auction notice/RFQ provided to you before the
auction.

13.     Where do I have to place a bid for a particular auction? 
a) First log in through your user id and password in our website 
http://auction.buyjunction.in 
b) Then Click on “Bids”. 
c) Next click on “Live Auction.” 
d) Then place your bid in the “New Bid” box. 
e) Then click on the checkbox on the left hand side of the bidding screen and again click 
on the submit button below. 
f) In case your bid is accepted by the system you will see a message “Bid Accepted” in the 
Result Box on the right hand side of the screen. 
g) In case your bid has been rejected you will see a message “Rejected” in the Result Box. 
You may click on the rejected message to know why your bid has been rejected. 
h) For Template, Yankee and Mass sealed Bid the process is a little different and you are 
advised to go through our Training Module sent to you to with the auction notice for 
detail understanding.

14.  Can I revise my bid in the “Sealed Bid” stage? 
           You can revise your bid as many times as you like within the scheduled run time of  
           the market but the last bid registered in our system from your id will be taken as 
           your valid bid at the Sealed Bid Stage.  

15.   Can I revise my bid in the “Mass Sealed Bid” stage? 
          No you cannot do so once you have uploaded the same in our system.

16.   Can I see the hammer at the “Sealed Bid”/Mass Sealed Bid Stage? 
         No. 
 
17.   From where do I find the current market price of a market when the auction 
        is in progress? 
         The current market price is displayed in the “Bid Summary Screen” at the extreme  
          right side of the screen. 
 
18. Is it possible to see the current market price/current markets running without
placing a bid in the auction?
 No you cannot see the current market price without placing at least a single valid 
          and accepted bid. 
 
19. When will I be able to see the current market price? 
        You will be able to see the current market price at the Price Negotiation Stage as per the 
         auction strategy. To see the current market price you have to place a valid and accepted 
         bid in the Market. (In case of Dynamic Price Negotiation/Rank based reverse auction it  
         will be visible as per auction strategy.) 

20. When is rank displayed in an event?


Rank will be displayed only in case of rank based price negotiation. 
 
21.  From where do I find the time remaining for a market to close when the  
       auction is in progress? 
        The time remaining for a market to close is displayed in the “Bid Summary Screen”  
        at the extreme right side of the screen.

22.  What should I do in case internet connectivity at my end is slow? 
a) Place your bid well in advance before the market closes. Do not try to bid at the last 
minute as due to slow connectivity at your end, you may lose the opportunity to bid. 
b) Enable Proxy bid wherever it is applicable. (Proxy bidding is not available for 
Template/Premium or Discount/loading factor/Dynamic Price Negotiation) 
c) Call up the auction controller in the auction room well in advance and seek assistance. 
 
23.  What is auto‐extension? 
         During the price negotiation stage in order to ensure that every participant gets free, fair 
         and equal opportunity to bid, in case any bid is registered within the last 5/10/15 minutes  
        (as per the auto extension time period stated in the Auction Notice,) the bidding time shall 
        automatically extend by the auto extension time period mentioned from each  such bid.  
 
24. How do I remain L1 in the 2nd stage of bidding? 
       You have to continuously go on revising your valid and accepted bid in the system 
        within the run time of the market on the basis of the current market Price/your  
        current rank (in case of rank based bidding)  
 
 
25.  What does the hammer sign indicate? 
         The hammer sign on your screen indicates that you are “leading” in that market at 
         that instant of time.(Is not visible for rank based bidding) 
 
 
 26.  What does it mean if the hammer disappears from my screen? 
          It indicates that you are no longer leading in the market. You have to revise your valid  
          and accepted  bid in order to stay in the competition and win the market. 
 
 
27.  What is proxy bidding?  
a) You can give your best bid that you can offer for a market in the system well in 
advance. Bid decrement has to be in multiples of the change price. (For certain auction 
types this facility is not available.) 
b) Your Proxy bid value is neither known to your competitors nor MJ. It remains 
undisclosed at the back end of the system. 
c) After you place your proxy bid for the market the system will bid on your behalf and 
revise your bid in decrements every time your competitor tries to revise and give a 
better bid than yours.

d) This will continue till such time the Proxy Bid Value is reached and you will be 
continuously shown a hammer on your screen. 
e) In case the hammer disappears from the screen it implies that your competitor has 
given a lower bid compared to your proxy bid and you are no longer leading in the  
  market. Thereafter you have to revise your bid again to remain in competition and win 
  the market. 
f) It may also be noted that the system will continue to revise your bid so long it receives a 
revised bid from your competitor. In case it does not receive any and the market run     
      time ends, you will be the L1 for that market at the market price prevalent at the time of  
      closure. 

28.    Can we set proxy for all Auction types? 
         Proxy bid cannot be set for the following auction types‐ such as of Dynamic Price 
  negotiation, Rank based bidding, Premium or Discount bidding, Template Auction & in 
  case of auctions where Loading factor is enabled. 

29.    Is proxy bidding helpful? 
a) It is immensely helpful as the system bids on your behalf .You remain in the 
competition till such time you are outbid by your competitor. 
b) It is helpful when you are participating in bidding for multiple markets. 
c) Acts as a safeguard against slow connectivity/connectivity failure or any other problem 
at your end. 
 
30.   What happens if my competitor also activates the proxy in the same market?   
        In case your proxy bid is lower than that of your competitor you will be considered as the  
          L1 till such time your competitor revises and places a bid lower than your proxy bid. 
 
31.   Is start bid price made visible for all types of auctions? 
Visibility of the start bid price is dependent on the strategy of auction adopted. 
 
32.    Where can I see the Change Price or the minimum bid decrement? 
  It will be visible to you in the ash colour bar above the start price at the left hand side of  
  the bidding screen.

33.     What is the difference between the last bid price and the current market 
  price? 
  Last bid price is your last quoted valid and accepted bid price for the market in our 
            System. Current market price is the lowest running price of that market at that 
  particular instant. 
 
34. When should I send the dummy price breakup (as per requirement stated by the
Client)?
Prior to the start of the auction/ or as per schedule given in the auction notice.

35.     What is effective bid? 
  To bring different categories of customers at par during bidding, at the instruction of 
  the Client a multiplicative loading factor and a constant is added to the new bid of 
  that category of customers to arrive at the effective bid. To see the effective bid you  
  have to place your bid in the new bid column, then click outside the box and see it in 
  the effective bid box. 
 
36.     How to participate in the template bidding? 
a) First log in through your user id and password in our website 
http://auction.buyjunction.in 
b) Then Click on “Bids”. 
c) Next click on “Live Auction.” 
d) Then click on the “T” button provided at the beginning of the row. 
e) When you click on the “T” button a new window called “Template evaluation Form” 
will open up. 
f) Fill in your price in the respective box provided next to various price components. 
g) Click on “evaluate” button. 
h) In the “confirm effective price” window check various price component. 
i) If, found ok, Click on “Confirm” button. 
j) Otherwise click on “back” button to re‐enter the prices. 
k) Click “cancel” to close the window without placing any bid. 
l) Once you click on “confirm”, your final price will appear in “New Bid” box. 
m) To place your bid click on the check box at the extreme left. 
n) Click on submit. 
o) If your Bid is accepted you can see “Bid Accepted” in the “Result” column. 
p) You can also see a hammer sign next to the result column, which indicates you as the 
leading (L1) bidder n that market.

37.    Does the system warn me in case by mistake I place a bid abnormally low?
In case of reverse auction system does not accept any bid which is lower than the running 
          market price by 50%. System also prompts a warning message when you place a bid 10% 
          lower than the current market price. 
         In case of Rank based bidding system prompts a warning message when you 
          place a bid 10% lower than your previous bid.        

38.    Have I to place my bid in % terms in case of Premium/Discount Auctions? 
  The clarification regarding the bid value to be put will be mentioned in the Auction 
  Notice. You are requested to go through the same before placing the value in the  new 
  bid column. 
39.    When can I participate in price match event? 
     To be eligible to participate in price match event, you have to participate and place 
  valid and accepted bid in all previous stages of the event and also fulfill client’s defined 
  conditions if any.   
      
40.  What percentage of order is received after price match? 
  The decision is taken by the Client and hence you are request to speak to the Client on 
  the same. 
 
41. How can I view my rank or position, winning bid, last quoted price after the  
         auction?                  
         You have to log into our website through your user id & password to see your last 
  quoted price, position & winning bid. The steps are: Click on BIDS on the left pane of  
  screen & click on “View”, “CLOSED Auctions”& then “Closed Auction Reports” to see 
  the closed  auction details. For each of the Codes the details will appear. The details will 
  be available for maximum of 24 hrs after the auction closure. 

42. How can I register my suggestions/complaints?        
  After you log into our website using your user id and password, you have to click on 
  the link “Feedback” to register your suggestions/feedback. We assure you that the 
  concern raised by you will be adequately addressed and intimated to you. We also 
  request you to fill up the feedback form appearing online after every auction. Your 
  feedback helps us to serve you better.

43. How do I submit the price break for the L1 price after becoming L1 or for? 
         Price Match? 
          You have to send your price break within the time period stated in the Auction notice in   
  your company letter head only signed by authorized signatory of your company and 
  faxed to us .You may also email the filled up and signed document to
