IG 97. Ps. 46. Ant. THE LORD of hosts is with us; / the
God of Jacob is our refuge.
1 God is our hope and strength, / a very present help
in trouble.
2 Therefore will we not fear, though the earth be
changed, / and though the hills be carried into the midst
of the sea;
3 Though the waters thereof rage and swell, / and
though the mountains shake at the tempest of the same.
4 The LORD of hosts is with us; / the God of Jacob is
our refuge.
5 There is a river, the streams whereof make glad
the city of God, / the holy place of the tabernacle of the
Most High.
6 God is in the midst of her, therefore shall she not
be moved; / God shall help her, and that right early.
7 The nations make much ado, and the kingdoms
are moved; / but God uttereth his voice, and the earth
doth melt away.
8 The LORD of hosts is with us; / the God of Jacob is
our refuge.

1 Praise the LORD , ye servants; / O praise the Name
of the LORD.
2 Blessed be the Name of the LORD / from this time
forth for evermore.
3 The LORD's Name is to be praised / from the rising
up of the sun unto the going down of the same.
4 The LORD is high above all nations, / and his glory
above the heavens.
5 Who is like unto the LORD our God, / that hath his
dwelling so high,
6 And yet humbleth himself to behold / the things
that are in heaven and earth?
7 He taketh up the poor out of the dust, / and lifteth
the needy out of the mire;
8 That he may set him with the princes, / even with
the princes of his people.
9 He maketh the barren woman to keep house, / and
to be a joyful mother of children.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, / and to the
Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall
be, / world without end. Amen.

behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; neither
did we eat any man's bread for nothing; but worked
with labour and toil, night and day, that we might not
be chargeable to any of you; not because we have not
the power, but to make ourselves an example unto you
to follow us. For even when we were with you, we gave
you this command, that if any man would not work,
neither should he eat. For we hear that there are some
which walk among you disorderly, working not at all,
but are busybodies. Now them that are such, we
command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that they
work with quietness and eat their own bread. And ye,
brethren, be not weary of well-doing.
GRADUAL
EG: Ps. 127. Blessed are all they that fear the Lord: that
walk in his ways. V. Thou shalt eat the labours of thy
hands; it shall be well with thee.
Or
BCP: Ps. 127. EXCEPT the LORD build the house, / their
labour is but lost that build it.
2 Except the LORD keep the city, / the watchman
keepeth vigil but in vain.
3 It is but lost labour that ye haste to rise up early,
and so late take rest, and eat the bread of carefulness; /
for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
4 Lo, children and the fruit of the womb / are an
heritage and gift that cometh of the LORD.
5 Like as the arrows in the hand of the giant, / even
so are the children of one's youth.
6 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of
them: / they shall not be ashamed when they speak with
their enemies in the gate.

for sinners also do even the same. And if ye lend to
them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye?
for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much
again. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and
lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward
shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the
Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful, and to the
evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is
merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged:
condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive,
and ye shall be forgiven: give, and it shall be given unto
you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together,
and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For
with the same measure that you use for measuring, it
shall be measured to you again.
OFFERTORY. Let the brightness of the Lord our God be
upon us, and direct Thou the works of our hands over
us; yea, the work of our hands do thou direct.

1 I will alway give thanks unto the LORD; / his
praise shall ever be in my mouth.
2 My soul shall make her boast in the LORD; / the
humble shall hear thereof and be glad.
3 O praise the LORD with me, / and let us magnify
his Name together.
