PRAYER OF CONFESSION
(unison) Merciful God, we confess that we have sinned
against you in thought, word, and deed, by what
we have done, and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart and
mind and strength. We have not loved our neighbors
as ourselves. In your mercy forgive what we have been,

Fourth Church welcomes Hector Mendez, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of
Havana, Cuba, a congregation with which Fourth Presbyterian Church has an
ongoing relationship. We also welcome Oneida Mendez, his daughter, who is
serving as his translator this morning.
World Communion Sunday is a day when worshipers around the world gather for the
Lord’s Supper, enacting the words of the hymn “Come, Risen Lord”: “One church
united in communion blest; one name we bear, one bread of life we break.”
A Peacemaking/World Communion Sunday Offering i s being received today in
support of the program and project ministries of First Presbyterian Church of
Havana, Cuba.
The textile banners and pulpit parament, “Unweavings” created by Laurie Wohl, are
intended to elevate the perception of the sacred in the “ordinary” as we make our
