CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a light touch approach that releases tensions deep in
the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and
performance (Upledger Institue).
Pediatric Physical Therapy promotes independence, increases participation,
facilitates motor development and function, improves strength, enhances learning
opportunities, and eases care giving.
Pregnancy and postpartum are times of learning, adjustment, integration, and
transformation. Parenting is an experience for which we receive little training and
preparation yet it can be the most challenging, rewarding and intense experience
of our lives. It truly takes a village of support for a family to thrive in this transition.

involved in the community, meet other parents, or to simply venture out for fresh air.

In obstetric practice, an obstetrician or midwife sees a pregnant woman on a Play Gyms/Swim/Yoga

regular basis to check the progress of the pregnancy, to verify the absence of ex-
novo disease, to monitor the state of preexisting disease and its possible effect on
the ongoing pregnancy. A woman's schedule of antenatal appointment varies
according to the presence of risk factors, such as diabetes, and local resources.  Childlight Yoga (various Seacoast locations)
Gynaecology or gynecology refers to the surgical specialty dealing with health of Baby Itsy Bitsy Yoga (for babies 3 weeks old to almost crawling)

Acupuncture is an ancient healing art that is now being used widely even within the
western medical world. Acupuncture can be used broadly to sustain or improve
health during pregnancy and postpartum or for more specific circumstances such
as encouraging labor to begin, turning a breech baby, lowering blood pressure, etc.
Newborn and infant can also benefit by being treated via the mother or with
acupuncture or tui na, a type of massage for such things as restlessness, allergies,
colic, excess gas.

The ancient and natural act of breastfeeding is not always simply begun. With the
expert knowledge and resources of a lactation consultant, any bumps in the road
can be smoothed so the experience is comfortable and beneficial for both mother
and baby. In addition to the invaluable support of peers and family, it is important to
make connections during pregnancy with La Leche League and mothers groups so
the support is there when you need it after your baby arrives.

The benefits of Moms' groups are numerous and often overlooked. Some of the
most important benefits are simply the emotional strength provided by having a
support system. Joining a mother's group also has many great incentives with
rewards that will last a lifetime. It can be difficult for new moms to find a network of
confidants after dividing time between home, the many hat's we wear, partner

Certified Nurse Midwives at the Hospital: Certified nurse midwives practicing at the
hospital provide nurturing care and support for a full spectrum of birth
experiences. They strive to maintain the normalcy and sanctity of birth while
utilizing the technology of the hospital if needed or warranted.
Certified Professional Midwives at Home: A certified professional midwife is trained
and certified to provide midwifery care to women experiencing low risk
pregnancy and birth. (More info. At NARM.org).
Some state health departments offer programs to help women purchase or rent a
breast pump. For more information on the programs offered by your state, contact
your state health department. Be sure to ask about sales & rentals. Rentals are
typically $30 - $60 per month. During the prenatal care period, contact your private
health insurance company to determine what assistance is provided for
breastfeeding and breast pumping equipment, including a lactation consultant or
breastfeeding clinic for supportive care.

The best childbirth and parenting classes are those that support families through
the many changes that come with welcoming a new child into the family. They
provide resources and information so families can make informed decisions, clarify
beliefs, ideals and priorities and provide a context for families to proactively
address fears and concerns.
Pregnancy and postpartum are immense life transitions that can cause you to lose
perspective and your sense of self and question your identity and your path.
Finding an objective, thoughtful and knowledgeable person to talk with can be
crucial to your mental well-being. Depression and anxiety can occur at any time,
including pregnancy and postpartum. Don’t be afraid to pick up the phone and
make a connection with a mental health professional. Your emotional health is as
important as your physical health.
