What is the different between RON 97 and RON 95 petrol?

Which would you use for your

car? Give reason why

RON stands for Research Octane Number; it represents the fuel ability to resist premature
together with uncontrolled combustion that occurs when fuel pre-ignites before the ignition spark
plug. Besides that, RON is defined by comparison with the mixture of iso-octane and heptane for
instance RON 95 consists of 95% is iso-octane and 5% is heptane, similarly RON 97 consists 3%
the heptanes and 97% of iso-octane. The lower RON is easier to ignition within engine, thus, this
is obviously that RON 95 is easiest to ignite, while comparing with RON 97.

The high performance vehicles are designed to run on higher octane numbers, especially
sport and racing cars. Usually operate at relatively higher temperatures and are more prone to
situations like auto-ignition together with premature ignition, this is because the compression
process caused temperature variation inside the combustion chamber, this will lead to premature
ignition of oil, which called as knocking. Hence high performance vehicle require higher RON
figures fuel in order to avoid premature ignition of fuel within combustion chamber. So, RON 97
is appropriate to utilize in high-performance vehicles because RON 97 having further resistant to
auto-ignition. On the other hand, if high performance vehicle pumping RON 95 it would cause
by ignition timing is not proper or engine overheating, while the heat from the cylinder itself
causing the mixture to combust before the spark plug to burn the mixture which refer as
knocking. When heavy knocking occurs it would cause lower the efficiency of the engine,
reduces its performance and might also harm the engine. Moreover, the most common damage
caused by detonation is ring land piston crown erosion, with severe detonation and thermal
fatigue can result in breakage of the lower lands or fracture off a section of the top land and/or
crown.

I am using RON 95 for my vehicle, because refer to vehicle manual the RON 95 is
minimum requirement of my vehicle means that my vehicle compression ratio is not set to high,
if I choosing higher RON petrol like RON 97 the performance also cannot reach to higher. The
present-day most of the car equipped with knock sensors which are detectors that signal engine
operation to adjust ignition timing while engine knocking. Furthermore, RON 95 is satisfy my
vehicle requirement so that the spark plug ignites the fuel mixture in my engine and this burn
occur at exactly the right time so the piston can convert the expanding gas into usable energy as
well as does not cause engine knocking. Therefore, I am satisfying to pumping RON 95 in my
vehicle; it does not bring any bad influence and cause fatigue my vehicle piston. Otherwise,
RON 95 enable provide same quality and performance with RON 97 the only different between
RON 95 and RON 97 is duration ignition of fuel within combustion chamber.
