COURSE PLAN
IC 1004 - INDUSTRIAL DRIVES AND CONTROL

AIM

To study and understand the operation of electric motor drives controlled from a
power electronic converter and to introduce the design concepts of controllers for closed loop
operation

OBJECTIVES
1. To study and understand the different types of drives and selection of drive
and power converter.

2. To study and analyze the operation of the converter / chopper fed dc drive and
to solve simple problems.

3. To study and understand the operation of both classical and modern induction
motor drives.

4. To study special machines stepper motor, servo motor and brushless motor
drives and their control.

5. To analyze and design controllers for closed loop operation.
