Conclusions

It was noticed that the horsepower calculated by the tension (equation 2) was slightly
greater with the lower grit sandpaper. The calculated horsepower by torque (equation 3)
was equal across the three trials, as the weight and the radius were the same for each of
the trials. Also, the angle theta decreased slightly with the lower grit sandpapers;
however the variance could be due to human error when reading the measurements. In
future, to effectively measure angles and perform the experiment more than a single setup
and a single set of figures would be more reliable. This was not possible due to time
constraints within the lab class period.
