PROBLEM: Inhaled insulin by Exubra, was a failure due to: 10 inch long device, needing compressed air
for spray, 10% efficient, poor inhalation effort - Our 3 inch device with no compressed gases, better lung
deposit, and no pain insulin may be a great relief for majority insulin using diabetics. Inhaled insulin
powder may be possible if errors of Exubra are removed. Diabetes is increasing & affects all ages, more
kids too. Ideal inhaler must release a drug spray with low coating in the mouth. Spray must be of low
velocity with easy inhalation & deposit into lung air sacs.
1. Improper Fast inhalation, - allowing 10% deposit, coating the spray into mouth.
3. Dusty, polluted air is inhaled without a filter that cause disease (asthma, infections, cancer) to users
OUR INHALER: The inhaler comprises of an easy holding hollow plastic body 7cms.with a front narrow
longer mouth piece. The needed powder from multi dose blister strip pierced or capsules deposit the
dry powder in a drug chamber in the body. This chamber has a small hole to drop the powder (white)
by pressing a sliding knob (black) in the fast spray zone. The outside air is pulled through a back dust
filter in the body for clean air inhalation. The air channel 20 mm wide @ the back narrows to 6mm

mouthpiece, creating a fast air jet that sprays the drug as a mist through mouthpiece. The longer mouth
piece leads straight to back of throat for lung deposit. Just 3 inches long. Back (black) filter traps air
dust! Back Aperture 20mm narrows to 6mm inner air channel creates fast air jet that forms a good drug
spray. This venture effect is good for spraying powders as mist.
Working: Load powder from capsules/ blister. Keep in mouth inhale. Press knob (black) when inhaling.
Powder drops, forms a spray traveling to lungs. Wide body narrowing makes a faster, optimum jet than
all inhalers that sprays the powder. An inside baffle declumps powder too for smooth spray. Kids 4-6
years can inspire 200 ml of air and can form a spray too.
TESTS DONE 1. Length of inhalation –longer in ours- more time to send drug to lungs 2.Easy to Hold in
mouth for kids too -as small 8mm not 2cms diameter 3 Mouth coating: lower mouth deposit in ours 4
User friendliness in holding, portability, inhalation, use: better in ours 5 Depth of inhalation: do you
feel lungs filling? Ours yes, others- not much. Just inhale in an 8mm vs. 15mm diameter 2 inch long
plastic tube! Feel the difference!
Comparison:

Spray Dye test Wider, mouth coating Lower mouth coating
1. Long, Slow and deep inhalation, as air is drawn through a smaller air hole.
2. The device has more time to inhale -the inhalation is 6 seconds vs. 2-3.
4. Useful for kids, old, illiterates- who can now inhale the spray easily.
5. The filter removes all air polluting dust and germ particles for safe inhalation.
Insulin puff after meals may be possible now- this can deliver for kids too! Lungs are good insulin
absorbers.
Scintigraphy after Inhalation: Good peripheral lung deposit of over 18% vs. 10 of Exubra

Blood sugar reduction after inhalation & increased insulin levels in a patient:
We welcome help for this new inhaler. This can change our post meal insulin needs by simple inhalation.
