Target Group Commissioning Specialist


Aim The commissioning specialist is responsible for all the commissioning tasks
including the acceptance test. He configures all system units by means of the
installation and test manual and carries out the appropriate tests in order to
verify the correct and fault free operation. This includes the tests of the line
trunk group LTG and the trunk lines. He installs the application program system
APS, performs the installation recovery, implements modifications as necessary
and runs the ODAGEN. All reports are collected for later verification. As agreed
with the customer the acceptance tests are carried out according to the
procedures in the acceptance test manual. Protocols are signed if the
appropriate requirements are met and the exchange is handed over to the
customer.

Target Group Configuration Management Expert


Aim The Configuration Management Expert is assigned to the NMC. His main task
is the correct configuration of the entire network in close cooperation with the
planning department. This includes trunk lines, subscriber connections,
protocols, features, services, accounting relevant configurations and the
synchronization. He advises and supports the Network Element Manager in
case of configuration changes. He verifies the correct configuration, analyses
malfunctions and corrects the database and parameters as required In case of
faults he performs fault analysis together with the Fault Management Expert if
necessary. This includes the protocol analysis using available tracers. He
collects protocol and configuration relevant error symptoms and reports it to the
Fault Management Expert.
Prerequisites Qualified engineer with a basic knowledge of telecommunication networks and
services, and a basic understanding of switching and transmission technology.

Aim Delta training is always required, when the system software in your network is
upgraded from one version to another. During the delta training, the new
system features and operation and maintenance practices are presented and
explained. Please select the required course from the following list. If the
system is upgraded from a low version (e.g. V6.2W) to a high version (e.g. V12)
it is required to select 2 courses in a row. Please note, that participation in an
upgrade training requires, that you have the appropriate knowledge about your
current system version.

Target Group Exchange Planning Engineer


Aim The exchange planning engineer determines the hardware configuration of an
exchange. The input data like traffic requirements, the amount of trunk lines
and the requested services are received from the network planning engineer.
Using that data, the exchange planning engineer determines the types of
hardware units, the amount of hardware, i.e. EWSD system units and modules
and performs the dimensioning, where necessary. Configuration tools are used
as far as they are available.

Target Group Fault Management Expert (TAC)


Aim The Fault Management Expert is assigned to the NMC. He is responsible for
the perfect function of the entire network, as configured by the Configuration
Management Expert. He is informed about all major events and he controls and
coordinates all activities in critical situations. He defines the security relevant
measures and the implementation into the network. advises the OAM
personnel and organizes a 24 hours on call service. If required, he supports the
OAM personnel and performs analysis for fault clearance or he escalates the
problem to the manufacturer´s TAC2/3 organization. Furthermore, he controls
necessary system modifications and supports the acceptance tests. He collects
all error symptoms and statistical data, defines required measures and provides
relevant data to the manufacturer. Through the participation in user feedback
meetings he is always at the highest level of his expertise.

Target Group Network Element Assistant


Aim The Network Element Assistant is assigned to a central or regional network
management center NMC or to a service region. His main tasks are standard
fault clearance and other routine and preventive tasks. He receives from the
Network Element Manager all the information about a pending alarm and
instructions about the replacement of the defective unit. He replaces the
defective unit, performs local function tests for verification and restores the
service in cooperation with the Network Element Manager. If requested by the
NMC staff, he performs routine tasks, preventive or other related tasks.

Target Group Network Element Manager


Aim The Network Element Manager is responsible for all routine and corrective
tasks for the installed equipment in a service region. He coordinates all
activities with the NMC personnel and advises the Network Element Assistant.
He performs standard administrative tasks as well as routine tasks, preventive
maintenance and security tasks. In case of faults, he receives information
about a pending alarm from the NMC personnel or he recognizes the alarm by
himself. He performs the alarm analysis, defines the measures for fault
clearance and instructs the Network Element Assistant about the measures to
be taken. If necessary he clears the fault by himself. He can recognize
emergency situations and reports these to the Fault Management Expert for
further analysis and handling.

Target Group Operation, Administration and Maintenance Specialist


Aim The OAM Specialist is responsible for all routine and corrective tasks of the
system. He advises and controls the OAM Technician and supports him where
necessary. With the aid of the operation manual he performs the administration
of the access and the output control. He saves the application program system
APS with the aid of the maintenance manual, performs the standard
administration of the database as well as security related administrative tasks
with the aid of the operation manual and saves EWSD generation-less files.
Using the maintenance manual he performs line and trunk maintenance,
recognizes faults and clears them. Critical or emergency situations require
special attention and highest priority and must are reported to the system
specialist TAC and cleared in close cooperation.

Aim TThe network planning engineer for Switching Networks investigates the
demand for telecommunication services and defines short term and long term
planning targets. He derives the planning relevant data, determines the location
