c) An object 25 cm in front of a lens has its real image formed 20 cm at the back of the
lens
i) Is the lens convex or concave? State the reason for your answer

c) Figure 6 shows a cubical copper block of density 8920 kg m"3. The length of each
edge is 1.50 cm. The cubical copper block is attached to a string and then totally
immersed in oil of density 820 kg m"3.

a) An electric heater supplies 2.5 kW of power in the form of heat to a tank of water at
15 °C.
i) How long will it take to boil the 20 kg of water in the tank? (Assume no heat
losses to surrounding)

ii) Find the total heat released when the water become a steam at 128 °C.

b) What is the mass of steam that must be injected into a calorimeter initially containing
300 g of ice cube and 500 g of water at 0°C if the final temperature is to be 70°C?
Ignore the heat capacity of the calorimeter.
