Introduction

PDF Content Split can split on text information within the

PDF, This is an ideal product if you had for example a PDF
statement that needed splitting up on account number,
PDF Content Split would do this with ease by searching for
words within the pdf, marking start and end ranges and
then automatically splitting the document up for you.
Many options are available: Content Splitting, Split on
Bookmarks, Take words within the pdf as output
filenames, Search for text, Extract until text, Extract on
unique text, Co-ordinate matching + many more options.

Q. How do I enable the h,v match boxes?

A. To enable those the page extract drop down box must be set to the h,v match type e.
g. From match to next match using position h,v

Q. My match repeats and I don't want each repeat outputting to a separate

file, how do I change on unique text ?
A. select the 'from match to next match unique' option, the range will be output on a
change of text value only.

Q. My match vertical/horizontal position is not in a fixed position, how do I

match on this ?
A. In the h,v match you can put a range in the editbox value for either or both, e.g. 100-
200

Q. what does the 'show' button do ?

A. The show button runs the processing and highlights the search from and until words
when matched, so you can see for yourself how PDF Content split is matching and splitting
the document by clicking the 'show' button.

Q. I have a landscape document and nothing matches.

A. Click the landscape layout checkbox at the top, then click the 'view current page h,v'
button and see what the words are been scanned like, if it one character at a time then
when searching type the search with spaces in-between for example 'A c c o u n t', then
click the 'show' button to check that it's matching correctly, if you are not having any joy
then please do contact us with a sample pdf and we'll see what we can do for you.

Examples Of Usage

A few notes before we start:-

1. All search words are case sensitive.
2. All search texts must be full words.
3. All these examples are using the example.pdf and the example2.pdf files provided in the installation directory: C:\Program Files\Traction
Software\PDF Content Split

All of these examples are self explanatory, if you require any help then please contact us.

To start the program click on the toolbar icon

or menu option, NOTE: full Acrobat required.

Example 1 - Splitting on "Account Number:", Extracting pages to files using the page range as the name, pages 1,2 & 4 have the word
"Account Number:" so pages 1-1,2-3 & 4-4 are output to separate pdf files.
Example 2 - Splitting on "Account Number:", Extracting pages to files using the account number afterwards as the name, pages 1,2 & 4 have
the word "Account Number:" so pages 1-1,2-3 & 4-4 are output to separate pdf files with the account number as the filename.
Example 3 - Splitting on the word "Account" using exact co-ordinates by clicking the "View Current Page h,v" you can find what the position
is for that word on the page, extracting pages to files using the account number afterwards as the name, pages 1 & 2 have the word "Account" at
the example position so pages 1-1,2-4 are output to separate pdf files with the account number as the filename.

NOTE: when using position only one word is allowed in the search as that has the co-ordinate.
Example 4 - Splitting on the word "Account" until the word "For more", extracting pages to files using the account number afterwards as the
name, pages 1,2 & 4 have the word "Account" & end with "For more" in the example so pages 1-1,2-2 & 4-4 are output to separate pdf files
with the account number as the filename.

NOTE: This is mainly used when you have a re-occurring word that you're searching on like account but don't always want to split at that point,
so an until word is needed to signal the end of the range.
Example 5 - Splitting on the bookmarks, pages 1-1,2-3 & 4-4 are output to separate pdf files with the bookmark as the filename.
These below use Example2.pdf

Example 6 - Splitting on the word "Account Number:" take next words as name until first of word is 'DUMMY' & split on unique match,
extracting pages to files using the account number parts 1 & 2 afterwards as the name, pages 1,2 & 4 have the word "Account Number:" in the
example2 so pages 1-3 & 4-4 are output to separate pdf files with the account number parts as the filename. NOTE: page 3 was a new account
but has the same number as page 1's (this is where the unique match feature is used)
Example 7 - Splitting on no text using unique exact co-ordinates by clicking the "View Current Page h,v" you can find what the position is for
the word you want to split on the page, page 1-3 are h=741 & page 4 is 745 so use range 741-745 extracting pages to files using the account
number parts 1 & 2 afterwards as the name, pages 1,2 & 4 have the word "Account Number:" in the example2 so pages 1-3 & 4-4 are output to
separate pdf files with the account number parts as the filename. NOTE: Only take first n words is 1 because 0 is for 1 word and 1 is for 2
words etc etc, page 3 was a new account but has the same number as page 1's (this is where the unique match feature is used)
