Caso uma enzima seja exposta a um pH muito mais ácido ou muito mais
alcalino do que seu pH ótimo, ela pode ser desnaturada, caso sua capacidade
de catalisar reações ainda seja preservada após a exposição, este processo é
dito como sendo reversível, e é irreversível se o dano for permanente.
