MANUAL OF ADMINISTRATION

I – School Governance

San Jose Academy Foundation of Tarlac Inc., (SJAFTI) is registered with the Securities and
Exchange Commission as a Non-Stock Non Profit Foundation by its Incorporators composed of 100
% Filipino. From the Incorporators they elect among themselves qualified individuals to compose its
governing body with the title, “Board of Trustee”.

The Board of Trustee(s) governs the operations of SJAFTI, with a function of both executive
and legislative. They exercise corporate powers as an executive in their committee chairmanship and
are from time to time designated by the Board of Trustee(s). The President is the Chief Executive
Officer (CEO, as the officer at the helm in a figurative ship who directs the operations,
complimented by Academic authorities headed by the School Principal and the Teaching Staff.

II – Personnel Selection Board

SJAFTI’s Personnel Selection Board is the school’s human resource development and
recruitment body.

III – School Personnel

1. The School Principal

The school Principal is the direct authority over the teaching staff in the delivery of corporate
desired quality education to its clients.

2. The Registrar

The Registrar is a school personnel assigned to manage the Admission and


Registration Services Office of the school. His job is to protect the sanctity and divinity of
School Records.

3. The School Guidance Counselor

The School Guidance Counselor is a school personnel assigned to monitor


pupil/student behavior and to conduct remedial intervention for erring students/pupils by way
of opening counseling services and implementing other corrective measures. His assignment
is under the office of the Guidance Department.

4. The Librarian

The librarian is a school personnel assigned to manage the services of the school
library for the students. He is to maintain records of books and other references that may
from time to time borrowed by the student/pupil for their study and research works.

5. Sports & Athletic Coordinator

The Sports and Athletic Coordinator is teaching personnel who may be among those
who are assigned to handle Physical Education Classes. He is the authorized representative of
the school with other sports and athletic organization and with the Department of Education’s
annual sports and athletic activities.

6. Members of the Faculty

SJAFTI’s members of the faculty are selected by the personnel selection board
composed of the Board of Trustee(s) and the School Principal through examination of their
credentials and community rapport and actual teaching demonstration.

7. The Homeroom Advisers

The Homeroom Advisers with their advisory class shall organize their Homeroom
organization and encouraged their homeroom officers and leaders to lead the observance of
classroom discipline and promote homeroom beautification, cleanliness and orderliness.

8. The Janitor

The School Janitor maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the school premises.
He is also from time to time performing other task as it may be necessary and beneficial for
the school.

IV – Support Services

The delivery of quality education by the members of the Faculty and staff is
complimented by other support services at SJAFTI.

1. – The School Guidance Department

The School Guidance Department is both an administrative and academic


support services employed to oversee the implementation of the Student Manual
particularly the students/pupils code of conduct and to propose other devices aimed at
improving its own system with regards to the delivery of quality education it supports.

It is also authorized to conduct behavioral and academic performance


monitoring and recording for periodical program efficiency analysis to provide a
constant information source of possible improvement that SJAFTI needed to make.

The Guidance Department is currently using the below listed devices for its
monitoring and recording activities.

SJAFTI in its program to assimilate the lessons for the preservation of a


balance eco-system through its guidance department has launch a program dubbed as
“Domestic Waste Management Program.” (DWMP) (SEE DWMP PRIMER)

2. The Supreme Student Government (SSG)

SJAFTI has organized its Supreme Student Government (SSG) through the
supervision of the Guidance Department and the Social Studies Club. Election of its officers
is conducted yearly to refresh their mandate to serve as the student/pupil representative as an
ex-officio member of the Board of Trustee(s) represented by their President (SGS).

3. - Admission & Registration Services (ARS)

The ARS is both an academic and administrative support service employed to protect
the sanctity and divinity of School Records. It is the schools in-charged with school’s
repository of academic records include pre- admission requirements and post admission
behavioral and academic performance records.

4. The School Accounting Department

The School’s accounting department is the foundation’s revenue and disbursement


office in-charged in collection and recording the School’s pecuniary matters and financial
interests. This department is directly controlled by the corporate treasurer and an assigned
cashier and other accounting staff.

Collection and Disbursement Control System

1. Any monetary transaction/collection between SJAFTI with any party shall be


documented by issuance of Official Receipts. Issuance of temporary receipts is
being discouraged by the management.

2. Any disbursement/payment/re-imbursement of any amount shall be supported by


corresponding Vouchers duly approved by the authorized officer of
SJAFTI/Treasurer.

3. Any collection of any amount shall be deposited at the official depository bank of
the SJAFTI.

5. Security & Maintenance Department

The School’s Security & Maintenance Department is also a support service


department employed to maintain the school premises’ cleanliness and orderliness.

V - Other Academic Support Services

1. Establishment of Student/Pupil Academic Organization/Club

a) The English Club


b) The Math Club
c) The Social Studies Club
d) Computer Club
e) The Filipino Club

2. The Club Coordinators

The student academic club organization is headed by a member of the teaching


staff chosen inline with their expertise and are authorized by the management to link
with related bigger club organization and to attend seminars/training helpful to the
advancement of their teaching strategies and to learn new development in their
specific field of discipline.

3. Establishment of School Paper

The Pillars

SJAFTI through the English Club, Pilipino Club and the Guidance department
has organized its campus reportorial team and became the staffers of the SJAFTI’s
School Paper-The Pilars.

The Pillars is now on its third year and its staffers were remarkably recognized
during the 2008 San Jose District Press Conference. In the 2010 Press Conference
another medal was given to The Pillars staff in Copy Reading.

4. The Parents Teacher’s and Community Association (PCTA)

SJAFTI organized its Parents Teachers and Community Association (PCTA),


election of officers is being conducted yearly to refresh their mandate as the voice of
the Parents and Guardians to serve as the PCTA representative as an ex-officio
member of the Board of Trustee(s) represented by their President. (PCTA)

VI – Decorum

SJAFTI 4P Policy

1. Promptness

SJAFTI consider promptness as a ‘must,’ on time all the time must be observed by the
School personnel and the pupils/students.

2. Proper Posture

SJAFTI consider wearing of proper uniform and Identification Card (ID) in the school
premises and in any place where school activities are being conducted constitute the
biggest part of the SJAFTI’s proper posture observation.

3. Phones and IPods

SJAFTI consider it necessary for cell phones and IPods of Teachers and
students/pupils to be switched off during class hours.

4. Politeness

School Personnel and Pupils/students should always be courteous in their dealing with
each other. Respect and humility must be practice all the time.

VII – Class Session/Hours

The School Premises are open for pupils/student entry at 6:45 AM and the classrooms
at 7:00 AM. Students are required to attend the Flag Ceremony and the Morning Warm-up.
Class Sessions starts at 7:30 am, Lunch Break at 12:00 and Afternoon Sessions start at 1:00
pm to 4:00 PM.

VIII - Classroom Management

1. 4C’s in the teaching and learning process

The SJAFTI’s Teaching Staff are advise to

CREATE a socially, emotionally, pleasant, satisfying and stimulating


environment for the teaching & learning situation.

CREATE an atmosphere conducive to learning.

CREATE meaningful and achievable goals for pupils/students.

CREATE meaning in the materials and activities they undertake.

2. Classroom Management Efficiency (CME) of a Teacher

Classroom Management Efficiency is valued two distinct features, “In Good Form”
and “ Of Substance”:

a) Classroom Management Efficiency of a Teacher is considered “In Good Form’


when cleanliness and orderliness is manifested in the classroom environs which
includes the proper arrangement of chairs and students are in their proper seating
posture and in proper uniform with their Identification Card pinned.

b) A Classroom Management Efficiency is considered ‘Of Substance’ if learning


materials, fixtures, slogans, posters and other visuals inside the classroom are
appropriate to the lessons being delivered.

3. Teacher’s Functional Behavior

A teacher is always expected to present himself focused on his dedication as


an educator and therefore it is ‘must’ for all the members of the Teaching Staff of
SJAFTI to manifest a Functional Behavior.

a) Functional Behavioral is manifested when a teacher is at all times prepared and


articulate in discharging his functions. Functional Behavior can be observed in a
Teacher during random and anticipated visit by the School Principal based on the
below listed considerations:

1. Presentation of Teacher’s Recording Journals

a) School Register

A School Register is “In Good Form” when there are no


unnecessary alterations, erasures and reflects the necessary
information needed for the recording of attendance, academic and
behavioral performance in per meeting basis.

A School Register is ‘Of Substance’ when the recorded information


adequately reflects accuracy and dependability.

b) Lesson Plan

A Lesson Plan of Teachers is “In Good Form’ when it follows the


required format and it conforms on the required lessons as scheduled
in the quarterly grading period.

A Lesson Plan of Teachers is ‘Of Substance’ when the subject


matter/topic details presented, adequately covers the general and
specific information required for the lesson.

c) Class Record

A Class Record of a Teacher shall be considered “In Good Form”


when there are no unnecessary alterations and erasures and marking
seen on the booklet and it adequately reflects necessary information
needed for the recording of attendance and performance both
academic and behavioral performance in per meeting basis.

A Class Record of a Teacher shall be considered ‘Of Substance’


when the recorded information adequately reflects accuracy and
dependability.

4. Instructional Material

Proper selection of Instructional Material is necessary to get the desired result


in the teaching and learning process. Instructional Material covers the whole medium
use in managing a teaching and learning process in a classroom. It is the whole
arrangement of learning medium use in a teaching session from the motivation stage
to the confirmation stage.

A teacher may start his motivational approach by sharing popular quotations,


by cracking a joke, group activity, group singing to break the ice of frozen brains. He
may go to his presentation through a syndicated groupings/role playing, an interesting
lecture, watching a documentary film, presentation of a slide show (power point
presentation), presentation using a flip chart or any other medium- the whole
arrangement of things use in a teaching session pertains to the term Instructional
Material(s).

a) Instructional Delivery

Lesson Plan in “Good Form” and “Of Substance”, when coupled with
the efficient delivery approach will assure the attainment of the school’s
objective behind the 4C Policy. Instructional Delivery Approach must be
observed so that necessary guidance and improvement must be suggested and
tried to provide for a room for the delivery system to evolve into the most
desired quality inline with the assurance of SJAFTI’s objectives under the “4C
Policy”.

b) Time Allocation

The effective use of time must always be considered in the teaching


and learning process, the above shown paradigm demonstrates how time is
being allocated and distributed to support the attainment of the delivery of the
4C Policy.

Efficiency of Time Allocation provided by a Teacher the preparation


of Lesson Plan can be observed during its delivery.

Time Allocation shall be considered “In Good Form” and “Of


Substance” when it conforms to the suggested paradigm and the delivery of
the same match with the allocated time.

c) Motivational Approach

The teaching and learning process can only advance when


students/pupil and teacher communication lines connects, so that they can be
able to relate in a two-way communication process.

Motivational Approach must be thought-provoking to fine tune the


two-way communication process between a teacher and a learner.
Motivational Approach must inspire the longing to learn to create a
space for the student/pupil’s learning interest.

Motivational Approach is “ In Good Form” and “Of Substance”, when
it stimulates the student/pupil interests to participate and relate with the
teacher and with his classmates in the exploration process of learning.

d) Teaching Strategy

The teaching approach if too rigid or too soft may not contribute
success for the attainment of the objectives of the 4C Policy. Along the
Teaching and Learning process the teacher need to put the sense of creativity
and sense of humor so as not to become boring or may be drowsy or may be
too dull.

Teaching Approach can be “ In Good Form” and “Of Substance” when


stimulates the participation of all the pupil/students in a class beneficial to the
attainment of the objectives of the ‘4C Policy’.

2. Classroom Observation

To assure that 4C is being performed by teachers, class room visitation and


observation is being conducted by the Principal in an anticipated and surprise/random
visitation.

3. Surprise and Anticipated Visitation Endeavors (SAVE)

Surprise and an Anticipated Visitation Endeavors (SAVE) are being conducted every
month to assure the implementation of the School’s 4C Policy. A ‘Surprise Visit’ is done in
a random approach and an ‘Anticipated Visit’ is done where the teacher is fully aware of
the date and time of the visitation.

IX. The “SAVE” Journal

The conduct of the ‘SAVE’ is to check the below listed circumstances:

Integral part of the SJAFTI assurance of the attainment of the objectives of the
4C Policy, the School Principal has to maintain a Journal of Teachers Performance
dubbed as “SAVE Journal”.(Please See Attached SAVE Journal)

IX – Admission Requirements

SJAFTI adopts section 62 of the manual of regulation for Private Schools by Atty.
ULPIANO E. SARMIENTO as hereunder quoted:

Section 62. Rules for Registration. The enrollment of pupils or students in every
private school shall be conducted during the registration days indicated on the
approved calendar and the pertinent procedures of the school and subject to the
following rules:

a. When a student registers in a school, it is understood that he is enrolling for the


entire school year for elementary and secondary courses, and for the entire
semester for collegiate courses:

b. Aside from the specified registration period, a pupil or student may enroll and be
admitted in accordance with the reasonable rules of the school for late enrollment
but which in no case shall exceed two weeks after the opening of classes.

c. After the two-week period above-mentioned, no further enrollment would be


allowed, without prejudice however to subsequent transfer by an enrolled student
from one school to another during the school year; provided the consent of both
schools is obtained. As a general rule, inter-school transfers after the enrollment
period are discouraged, especially in the cases of students who are expected to
graduate from a course of study during the school year at the secondary or tertiary
levels of formal education.

d. No pupil or student shall be officially enrolled unless he presents the *proper


school credentials on or before the end of enrollment period for the school term.

e. A pupil or student shall be deemed officially enrolled after he has submitted his
appropriate *admission or transfer credentials, has made an initial payment of his
school fees which has been accepted by the school and has been authorized to
attend classes in the school.

f. No foreign pupil or student shall be enrolled without the prior approval of the
Secretary or his authorized representative.

g. For purposes of enrollment, the name and other personal data or circumstances of
each pupil or student as indicated on his birth certificate or alien certificate of
registration, where applicable, shall prevail.

*Proper School Credentials

Enrollees for Preparatory, Kindergarten and Grade I, is required to submit


certified photo copy of their birth certificate (NSO Authenticated If Possible) to
support the identity of the child being enrolled.

*Proper Admission Credentials

For higher grade level the original Form 138 indicating that the enrollee is eligible
for admission for higher level. For transferees the enrollee is required to present a
transfer clearance from the former school he attended such as, Certificate of Good
Moral Character and Honorable.

The Transferee is temporary enrolled until his transfer credentials are forwarded
by the school last attended.

X – Merit Recognition

As a matter of motivation and control a program for merit recognition and


disciplinary actions must be in place.

1. Merit Recognition

SJAFTI considers that recognition of special achievement of


students/pupils as a matter of motivation for other students/pupils to emulate

and the one being recognized to strive further. SJAFTI considers the following
achievement for recognition:

1. Student of the Month

A student/pupil of SJAFTI may be recognized as a student of the month


through a monthly assessment based on their individual academic and
behavioral performance rating sheet. The one who may earn the highest
number of “P” (Pleasing) remark shall be recognized as the student of the
month of the where the “P” point were earned.

2. Journalist of the Year

A student/Pupil may be recognized as “Journalist of the Year” for having


accomplished the required number of publication to be released quarterly in
every year assigned as the Chief Editor of the School paper.

3. Boy Scout of the Year

A male student/pupil may earn the recognition as “Boy Scout” of the year
being the most active among the Boy Scouts in their scouting activities and
classes.

4. Girl Scout of the Year

A female student/pupil may earn the recognition to be the “Girl Scout of


the Year” being the most active among the Girl Scouts during their scouting
activities and classes.

5. The Green Banner Award

A student/pupil may earn the “Green Banner” recognition by getting the


highest points in the assessment of his/her behavioral performance manifesting
an eco-friendly attitude. His participation and good performance in the
“Domestic Waste Management Program of the School” shall be regarded in
the assessment for qualified candidates of the Award.
This Award shall have a Cash Component and a Green Banner as
testimonials of his/her exemplary deeds.

6. Athlete of the Year

A student/pupil who may manifest an extra-ordinary enthusiasm and


achievement in sports and athletic activities bringing honor to the institution
can earn the recognition as “Athlete of the Year”. Candidates shall be assessed
through points from merits earned during school intramurals, district meet, and
other sports and athletic activities.

7. “Honor” Pupil/Student

Honor Pupil/Students are those who have manifested enthusiasm in their


studies and earned the over-all highest grades from first to fourth grading
assessments period. A pupil/student can earn the recognition for an “Honor

Student” in the level of 1st Honors, 2nd Honors, 3rd Honors 1st Honorable
Mention and 2nd Honorable Mention.

XI- Disciplinary Actions

In the event that good motivation for a student fails and where the efforts of the teachers in
implementing the”4 C’s” and as stated in this manual and a pupil/students continue to fall short on
the “4P” Policy (Decorum) as also stated in this manual, as an instrument of control disciplinary
action must be in place.

2. Grave misconduct(s) Penal Provision

SJAFTI considers the following offenses as grave misconduct:

1. Assault

In the event that a pupil/student manifested acts of aggression to a teacher or any


of the school authorities, such action is considered an assault and any pupil/student
found guilty of this offense shall be considered as a grave misconduct or capital
offense shall be dealt with accordingly.

2. Engaging in physical fight (EPF)

In the event that a pupil/student found guilty for an offense of engaging in


physical fight such offense shall be considered a grave misconduct or capital
offense and shall be dealt with accordingly.

3. Provoking a Physical Fight (PPF)

In the event that a student/pupil found guilty for an offense of provoking a


physical fight by uncanny utterance and actions shall be considered as grave
misconduct and shall be dealt with accordingly.

4. Stealing property of others (SPO)

In the event that a student/pupil may be found guilty of “stealing others


properties shall be considered a grave misconduct or capital offense and shall be
dealt with accordingly.

5. Destroying Property of others (DPO)

In the event that a pupil/student may be found guilty of deliberately destroying


property of others shall be considered as a Grave misconduct and shall be dealt
with accordingly.

6. Voyeurism (VSM)

Viewing indecent and stolen immoral videos (Scandals) inside the school
premises and bringing pornographic materials shall be considered Voyeurism and
therefore shall be considered a grave misconduct and any student/pupil found
guilty of this offense shall be dealt with accordingly.

7. Alcohol and Drug Intoxication (ADI)

In the event that a pupil/student may be found guilty of Alcohol and drug
intoxication such offense is considered a grave misconduct and shall be dealt with
accordingly.

Note: When disciplinary actions in anyhow failed to instill obedience to a delinquent
pupil/student, intervention of authorities from the local Women and Children Protection Desk
(WCPD) of the Philippine National Police shall be sought.

XI – PERSONNEL TRANSACTION STANDARDS

1. HIRING REQUIREMENTS

An applicant requirement must have a degree in elementary or in secondary education


and passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) or have a masters degree in
any related discipline.

An applicant must fill out submit an application form within the following required
documents:

a) Certified true copy of Official Transcript of Records and Diploma.

b) Complete statements of his qualification, training and experience,


publications/and or research studies;

c) Certificate of good moral character from three references, namely:


his latest employer, a former professor, and one who knows the applicant
well.

d) Medical Certificate

2. CLASSIFICATION

The members of the Faculty of San Jose Academy Foundation of Tarlac Inc.,are
classified according to Status, Load, Rank.

a) REGULAR. A faculty member who has acquired regular status after


satisfactory meeting the criteria/ standards for this status and whose
appointment to regular status has been confirmed by the Board of Trustees
Personnel Selection Committee.

b) PROBATIONARY. A faculty member who posses the required


qualifications and is going through a period of probation to determine his
fitness/competency to teach.

c) SUBSTITUTE. One appointed after the start of the school calendar year,
due to the inability of the originally assigned faculty to continue or carry out
the assignment. A substitute is assigned to teach only for part of part of the
current school year.

d) SPECIAL LECTURER. One appointed to the teaching staff of the School


upon the invitation of the management based on his specialized qualifications
and experience because he is urgently needed to handle highly specialized
courses required in the curriculum.

His appointment shall be in per program basis.

e) SPECIAL TEACHING ASSIGNMENT. A full time member of the
administration given a teaching load of not more than 12 units on the current
school year he is assigned to.

3. TEACHING LOAD(s)

a) MAXIMUM LOAD. The Maximum load that may be assigned to


a faculty member is twenty eight hours a week or its equivalents the same
is given to a full-time faculty members paid in monthly basis.

As a general policy, subjects assigned to a faculty must be in his major or


related area of specialization.

b) FULL LOAD. A faculty member of SJAFTI shall be assigned at


least twenty eight hours (28) per week.

c) PART TIME. Hiring Part Time Teacher for SJAFTI is for special classes
only that will not exceed 18 lecture hours per week.

4. TENURE

Tenure is acquired upon satisfactory compliance with the requirements and the
criteria for regular appointment.

5. PROMOTION

Promotion is by no means automatic and is based on merit. Faculty members


who have earned graduate units or degrees, have demonstrated teaching
competencies and have rendered a number of years in the teaching profession
shall be considered for promotion to higher rank.

6. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

a) IN HOUSE TRAINING, SEMINARS, CONFERENCES

In-house Training, Seminars and conferences are encouraged but these should
be undertaken outside class hours, preferably during weekends.

b) SEMINARS CONFERENCES OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL

Faculty members who will acquire authorization from the Management shall
make provisions to re-echo the information he learned with his colleagues in
the school.

7. RESPONSIBILTIES

Members of the faculty are expected to be guided by the Code of Professional


Conduct vis-à-vis the School, their associates, the studentry, the administration
and the community.

8. PUNCTUALITY

Faculty member should set the example of punctuality to their students.

9. FACULTY ABSENTISM

A faculty member with a 28-hour/week teaching assignment load may incur


three (3) absences (i,e, within a quarter of the School Year) whether
consecutive or not , with out prejudice to him, in excess of (3) three absences,
the following policy will prevail:

a) On the 4th absence, the Principal will cll in writing the faculty
concern.
b) On the 5th and 6th absence, the Principal will reprimand in writing
the faculty concern.
c) On the 7th absences the Principal will inform the faculty member
concern of the suspension of his teaching assignment.

10. TARDINESS

a) 15 MINUTES LATE BEFORE THE FIRST BELL. A faculty


member who is late fifteen minutes (15) after the first bell will be
considered absent the whole hour. This will be deducted to the salary
of the faculty member concerned.

b) 15 MINUTES CLASS DISMISSAL BEFORE THE NEXT BELL.


A faculty member who dismisses his class 15 minutes before the
before the scheduled dismissal will incur a deduction in his salary on a
pro-rata basis, plus a written reprimand form the Principal and shall be
made part of his records.

11. PROMPT & ORGANIZED. The teacher should come to class prepared to discuss
the assignment for the day. He has the responsibility of keeping
himself abreast of the development of his subject. Being prompt and
organized must always be manifested in his actions.

12. IMPARTIAL IN HIS JUDGEMENT. Everything should be assessed and be


evaluated fairly and accurately in accordance with the
criteria/computation for grading and other guidelines set for assessing
academic works of students.

13. SUBMISSION OF GRADES.

a) Deadline of Submission.

The teacher should submit the grade sheets to the Principal within the
Five (5) calendar days after the last day of classes earlier in the current
school year. He should submit the quarterly grades in accordance with
the prescribed deadline.

b) Failure to submit on time

A faculty who may fail to submit the grade sheet on time will be
subject to appropriate administrative action.

XII . TERMNINATION OF SERVICE

a) CAUSES OF TERMINATION (MANUAL OF REGULATION FOR PRIVATE


SCHOOLS). The causes for termination of service according to the manual of
Regulation for Private Schools, Article XVII Section 94, Personnel Transaction
and Standards are the following:

1. GROSS ENIFECIENCY AND INCOMPTENCE in the performance of


his duties such as, but not necessarily limited to, habitual and inexcusable
absences and tardiness from his classes, willful abandonment of classes;

2. NEGLIGENCE IN KEEPING SCHOOL RECORDS or student records, or


tampering with or falsification of the same;

3. CONVICTION FOR A CRIME, or an attempt or other criminal act against


the life of a school official, personnel, or student, or upon the property of
the school;

4. BEING NOTORIOUSLY UNDESIRABLE;

5. DISGRACEFUL IMMORAL CONDUCT;

b) CAUSES OF TERMNINATION (ARTICLE 282 OF THE LABOR CODE)

1. SERIUOS MISCONDUCT or WILLFULL DISOBEDIENCE of the


lawful orders of his employer or representative in connection to his work;

2. GROSS AND HABITUAL NEGLECT by the employee of his duties;

3. FRAUD AND WILLFUL BREACH by the employee trust reposed in him


by his employer or the duly authorized representative;

4. COMMISSION OF CRIME OR OFFENSE by the employee against the


person of his employer or any immediate member of his family or his duly
authorized representative.

c) CAUSES OF TERMINATION (RA 232 SECTION 32.)

IN PRIVATE SCHOOLS DISPUTES arising from the employer –employee


relation shall fall under the jurisdiction of the Department of Labor and
Employment s provided by law and regulations: Provided that in view of the
special employment status of the teaching and academic non-teaching
personnel, and their special roles in the advancement of knowledge, standards
set and promulgated jointly by the DepEd and Dole.

XII. RESIGNATION/PROLONGED ILLNESS/DEATH

EXCEPT ON ACCOUNT OF PROLONGED ILLNESS, DEATH or when the


President deems it in the best interest of the school, no resignation from permanent
teaching assignment during the school year may take effect.

IN CIRCUMSTANCES SUCH AS ABANDONMENT OF DUTY CAUSE BY


ABSENCE WITH OUT LEAVE, or failure to report on duty at the expiry of an
authorized leave of absence, he may be considered resigned and his services
terminated in accordance the conditions set forth in his leave.

ARTICLE 284 OF THE LABOR CODE authorizes the termination of the services of
on one whoa has been found to be suffering from any disease and whose continued
employment is prohibited by law or is prejudicial to his health s well as to the health
of his co-employees.

XIII. DUE PROCESS

IN ANY ADMINISTRATIVE CASE AGAINST A FACULTY member which may


result in disciplinary action, suspension without pay, or even termination of service, a
regular faculty member has the right to: (1) be informed in writing of the specification
of the complaint; (2) have full access to the evidence against him, (3) have the service
of counsel and an adequate time to prepare his defense; (4) answer the complaints in
writing; (5) depend himself before the faculty personnel selection a and disciplinary
committee; (6) be accorded of a speedy disposition of the case; (7) be informed of the
decision in writing; and (8) appeal the decision to proper authorities within 90 days.

XII – Teacher’s Code of Conduct

All staff of SJAFTI is encouraged to practice a functional behavior as Teachers.


Relationship between each and every one during their work hours are entirely professional and
they should act and behave to meet the corporate desired objective of the School.

Teachers are always expected to attend their classes every day. The implementation of the 4-
Cs’ are always expected from their end in every minute of their teaching activities. Practicing a
Functional Behavior, a teacher should always act like a teacher and behave like whenever
he/she is dealing with the students.
1. Code of Professional Conduct

PREAMBLE

In the conviction that the fulfillment of its institutional purposes depends on teachers
who possess and manifest sound character, high ideals, deep scholarship, and sympathetic
understanding of human nature, San Jose Academy Foundation of Tarlac Inc., hereby adopts
this Code of Professional Conduct for the guidance of the members of its faculty.

Article 1. The Teacher and SJAFTI

Section . 1 Every teacher should endeavor to help carry out the declared goals and objectives of
the School. He should Assists the school administration in every way feasible in all

activities aimed at improving and strengthening the operations and programs of the
school.

Section 2. Discipline and respect for duly constituted authority should be observed by the
teacher. He should abide by the policies enacted by the SJAFTI’s Board Trustee(s)
in general and of the administration in particular, especially on such matters as
classroom discipline, conduct of examinations, submission of students’ grades,
accomplishments of time records and official forms, attendance and submission of
reports.

Section 3. The teacher should avoid any professional or personal action or activity which may
result in economic loss or legal and social embarrassment to SJAFTI. He should not
be involved in subversive activities.

Section 4. The teacher should conscientiously fulfill the terms and conditions of his
employment for the period of time agreed upon and give the school administration
reasonable time to assign his replacement when he decides to go on leave or to
terminate his relationship with SJAFTI.

Section 5. Efficient Service is the first duty of the teacher. He should perform his duties to the
best of his ability, demonstrating a high sense of responsibility, such as in the
preparation of his lessons and teaching materials before each class meetings.

Section 6. Every teacher should understand that his official time belongs to the school and that
it should be devoted fully and conscientiously to the accomplishment and/or
improvement of his official work.

Section 7. No textbook, manual, or workbook should be use in any class unless approved by the
School Management.

Article II. The Teacher and His Associates

Section 1. Teacher relationship should be based on the principles of democratic cooperative


action, honorable intentions, and mutual respect. A teacher should be responsible
for maintaining conditions conducive to well being of the group.

Section 2. Friendly relations with other teachers should be maintained and formations cliques
among groups should be avoided.

Section 3. Discretion must be exercise concerning confidential information about associates in


the school.

Section 4. The teacher should be willing to share his professional knowledge and experience
with fellow members of the profession.

Section 5. The teacher should duly acknowledge any assistance receive from his associates. He
should not appropriate the work of others and claim credit for it.

Section 6. Anonymous or fabricated criticism is unwarranted. A teacher should not make


unjustified criticism. While constructive criticism in the interest of the service is justified, such
information should be presented to proper authorities and supported by evidence.

\Article III. The Teacher and the Students/Pupils

Section 1. Every teacher should recognize that the interest and welfare of the students is his
first and foremost concern.

Section 2. Cordiality, friendliness, honorable intentions and mutual respect at all times should
characterize teacher-student relation.

Section 3. The teacher should never take advantage of his position to exploits his students, by
collecting/borrowing money, selling goods to them, or sending them on personal errands.

Section 4. The teacher should exercise firmness and resoluteness in imposing discipline
particularly on student behavior within the School. However this should be tempered with
humanness, understanding, and charity. Above all, he should be just.

Section 5. The teacher should be aware of, and sympathetic to the students’ needs and
problems. He should give only reasonable assignments and should be willing to give extra time
outside of his teaching hours, to assist students in their academic work.

Section 6. No teacher should charge his students for private lessons.

Section 7. Fairness should be exercised in giving grades to students. The teacher should not
allow himself to be influenced by any consideration other than merit in the evaluation of his
student’s work. He should not make deductions in scholastic ratings for acts that are clearly not
manifestation of poor scholarship.

Article IV. The Teacher and His Profession

Section 1. Service in education calls for the highest standards of integrity and morality. The
teacher should conduct himself accordingly and behave properly at all times. He should avoid
any act or behavior which might cause public scandal or unfavorable comments, such as
gambling, drunkenness etc.,

Section 2. The teacher should be physically and mentally fit form the service he has to render.

Section 3. Propriety and good taste in grooming should be observed. The teacher should avoid
vulgar or obscene language and off-color anecdotes.

appropriate business clothes.
Section 5. The teacher should continually grow in the profession. He should not be content to
have the minimum prescribe qualifications for his position, but should strive to improve his
professional qualifications through further studies, travel, participation in workshops, seminars,
conferences, and other means which will keep him abreast with the new trends in education not
only in his particular discipline but also in others. He should join local, national organizations
and should participate actively and unselfishly in them.

Article V. The Teacher and School Officials

Section 1. All teachers and school officials should at all times be imbued with the spirit of
cooperation, loyalty, mutual confidence, and faith in one another. When the best interest of the
students, the school, or the profession is at stake, it is the duty of school officials and teachers
to support one another.

Section 2. The teacher should address all communications to any of the school authorities
through proper channels. However, under certain circumstances, as when reforms are
unreasonably opposed by his immediate superior, the teacher may feel free to communicate
directly with a higher school authority.

Section 3. The teacher should make no false accusation or charges against his superiors,
especially through anonymous letters or under a fictitious name. If he has charges to make
against any of his superiors, he should the courage to present them before the competent
authority and be willing to prove such charges.

Article VI. The Teacher and the Community

Section 1. Every teacher should not only actively participate in but also initiate community
movements for moral, social, educational, economic, and civic improvement.

Section 2. As an intellectual leader in the community, the teacher should be willing to share his
knowledge, training and experience with the community.

Section 3. Every teacher should endeavor to maintain harmonious and pleasant personal and
official relations with parents and other professionals as well as with the community in general.
The teacher should so conduct himself as to merit the confidence and respect of the community
within and outside the school.

Article VII. Special Provisions

Section 1. Disregard of any of the forgoing provisions may be considered conduct of


unbecoming of a teacher of SJAFTI and shall be sufficient ground to subject him to
administrative action.

Section 2. This Code of Professional Conduct shall take effect upon its approval by the Board
of Trustees.
