Understanding and Treating Sexual Abuse in the Orthodox Jewish World

The William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis and Psychology presents a ground-
breaking conference for clinicians and others who would like to understand more about the causes,
consequences and treatment of sexual abuse. This educational forum will use interpersonal concepts to
identify emerging and existing problems stemming from sexual abuse in the Orthodox Jewish world.
The White Institute has a long history of working with the issues of sexual trauma. The Institute’s
internationally renowned Sexual Abuse Service is offering its expertise in conjunction with rabbinic
perspectives. Issues will be addressed with special sensitivity to the needs of the religious community. We
welcome everyone, including clinicians and others to whom sexual abuse matters are initially disclosed.

Rabbi Daniel Eidensohn, Ph.D., author of Child and Domestic Abuse: Psychological and Legal Perspectives.

Julie Jarett Marcuse, Ph.D., Director of the Sexual Abuse Service
Richard Gartner, Ph.D., author of Betrayed as Boys
Alison Feit, Ph.D., Director, Jewish Center for Trauma and Recovery

Rabbi Yosef Blau, Senior Spiritual Counselor of Yeshiva University and Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological
Seminary will be available during the afternoon panel and collation.
