Center of Greensboro is to foster and

The BCC Greensboro Justice Summer
Internship will provide a living-learning
experience in community-building for
youth and college students in Greensboro,
North Carolina, home of the historic
1960s sit-in movement and birthplace of
the first Truth and Community
Reconciliation Project in the U.S.
Based on a servant leadership model, the
program is led by a group of veteran civil
rights, human rights, labor, women,
students, and peace organizers. For 10
weeks Interns will be afforded the
opportunity to participate in a variety of
initiatives that emulate a broad range of
community building issues, including
police accountability & professionalism,
jobs and economic justice, h o m e l e s s
hospitality, leadership development,
quality of life and environmental
sustainability.

Ten interns representing various
backgrounds and experiences will
come together for 10 weeks, focusing
on a variety of issues affecting our
local community. Throughout the ten
weeks, students will develop
relationships with, not only veteran
organizers, but also community
leaders and residents, as they learn the
ropes of community organizing.
Interns will participate in staff
meetings, community meetings, door-
to-door campaigns and a variety of
other activities as they strive to build
a beloved community in Greensboro.
Interns will receive support and
guidance from not only the BCC staff
but an array of community leaders,
providing them with the opportunity
to connect more deeply with the
Greensboro community and create
long-lasting relationships while
impacting change in the historic city
where they are receiving their
academic education.
