Assalamualaikum and very good morning to all the judges, teachers and

my fellow friends. My name is Sharifah Nadiah Bt Syed Lamsah from SK

King George V. Today I would like to share a story about the Planet in our
Solar System.

What are planets? Planets are globe-shapes space objects that orbit the
Sun. The solar system has nine planets. Now, please listen to me...

“My Very Excellent Mother Just Serve Us Nine Pizzas”

What is that??Ha.. that’s my secret ! It is how I memorize the name of

planets in the solar systems beginning with the nearest to the Sun.

My = Mercury, Very = Venus, Excellent = Earth, Mother = Mars, Just =

Jupiter, Serve = Saturn, Us = Uranus, Nine = Neptune, Pizzas = Pluto

Mercury is the nearest planet to the Sun. The first time astronomers had a
clear view of it was when the Mariner 10 space probe flew past it in 1974.
Mercury only takes 59 days to make one full rotation around the Sun.

Even though Mercury so close to the Sun but it is not the hottest planet
because the temperature of Venus, which is the second planet from the
Sun is extremely high. The surface temperature of Venus can be over 470
degree Celsius. It is enough to melt lead. Wow!!!

Oh friends.....before I forgot...Do you know that the pressure on the

surface of Venus is 90 times greater than that on Earth? That is the true
fact, dear!

Venus is also called Evening Star because it could be seen from Earth in
the evening, just after sunset and before sunrise, though. Venus shines
like a star in the night sky. This planet is the brightest things in the sky,
after the Sun and the Moon.

Friends....

If Mercury is the nearest, Venus is the hottest, now let me tell you about
the smallest planet and the furthest out of all the planets from the Sun. It
is called Pluto. Pluto is tiny in comparison to the Earth. Earth is 5 times
bigger and 500 times as heavy. Pluto’s orbit is so far from the Sun that it
takes 249 years to travel right around once. This means a year on Pluto is
equivalent to 300 years on Earth. Pluto was officially confirmed as a dwarf
planet in 2006. It is very special because unlike all the other planets,
Pluto’s orbit cuts across diagonally.

Ladies and gentleman...

How about the biggest planet.........??? Can you name it?....... Yes..the
biggest planet in the Solar System is JUPITER. It is twice as heavy as all
the other planets put together. Jupiter has no surface for a spacecraft to
land on because it is made mostly from helium gas and hydrogen.

Now friends...do you want to know the queen of the planets? Alright... let
me tell you.. It is Saturn. Saturn is stunningly beautiful, with its smooth,
pale-butterscotch surface and its shimmering halo of rings. It is the most
striking and beautiful planet when viewed through a telescope.

However, the most special planet in Solar System is...of course our Earth!
Earth is the only planet that has living things on it such as humans,
animals and plants. Earth is uniquely suitable for life. This is because no
other planet has liquid water on it surface. Over 70% of Earth’s surface is
under water. The Earth is just the right distance from the Sun for surface
temperatures to stay an average 15 degree Celsius and keep most of its
water liquid.

I think that’s all for today. InsyaAllah we’ll see again next time. Last but
not least, “My Very Excellent Mother Just Serve Us Nine Pizzas”. Thank
You.
