2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing
that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the
earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them nor serve them.
For I the LORD thy GOD am a jealous GOD, visiting the iniquity of the fathers
upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me
and keep my commandments” - YaHuWaH, the GOD of ISRAEL
The LORD did not command Israelites to make a graven image, a wooden idol nor a
statue in order for them to worship HIM. Rather, HE commanded them to make an altar
of earth in where they could offer different sacrifice&offerings to the GOD MOST HIGH.
(Burnt offerings, peace offerings, dedication offering, freewill offering, meat offering,
drink offering, trespass offering, sin offering, thanksgiving offering; written in the book
of Leviticus & Numbers.)
They think they know better than the JEWS, the chosen nation of GOD.
When in fact, it was the JEWS who know how YaHuWaH hates idol worship.
Exodus 20: 20-23
“Do not be afraid. GOD has come to test you, so that the fear of GOD will be with
you and that you will not sin.” - Moses
“You have seen how I, the LORD, have spoken to you from heaven. You shall not
make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold to be
worshipped in addition to me.” - YaHuWaH, the GOD of ISRAEL
Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened:
burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. Then said I, Lo, I come:
in the volume of the book it is written of me, I delight to do thy will, O my God,
yea, thy law is within my heart. (Psalm 40: 6-8)
It is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Wherefore, when YahuShua came into the world he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou
wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: In burnt offerings and sacrifices for
sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come in the volume of the book it is
written of me) to do thy will, O God.
Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou
wouldest not, neither had pleasure therein; which are offered by the law. Then he said,
Lo, I come to do thy will, O God.
What does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God,
to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your
heart and with all your soul, and to observe the LORDʼs commands and
decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?
To the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and
everything in it. Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked any
longer. For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty
and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. He defends the
cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and
clothing. And you are to love those who are aliens, for you yourselves were aliens in
Egypt.
Fear the LORD your God and serve him. Hold fast to him and take your oaths in his
name. He is your praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and
awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes.
What does the LORD require of you? (Micah 6)
With what shall I come before the LORD and bow down before the exalted God?
Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old?
Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil?
Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
“Hear, O my people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God,
your God. I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, which are ever
before me. I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens, for
every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every
bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine. If I were hungry I would
not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it. Do I eat the flesh of bulls or
drink the blood of goats?
“The multitude of your sacrifices— what are they to me?” says the LORD.
“I have more than enough of burnt offerings, of rams and the fat of fattened animals;
I have no pleasure in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.
When you come to appear before me, who has asked this of you, this trampling of my
courts? Stop bringing meaningless offerings! Your incense is detestable to me.
New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations— I cannot bear your evil assemblies.
Your New Moon festivals and your appointed feasts my soul hates.
They have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them.
When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide my eyes from you;
even if you offer many prayers, I will not listen.
Your hands are full of blood; wash and make yourselves clean.
Take your evil deeds out of my sight! Stop doing wrong, learn to do right!
Seek justice, encourage the oppressed.
Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.
“ʻHear the word of the LORD, all you people of Judah who come through these gates
to worship the LORD. This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says:
Reform your ways and your actions, and I will let you live in this place. Do not trust
in deceptive words and say, “This is the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD,
the temple of the LORD!”
If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly, if
you do not oppress the alien, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent
blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm, then I will
let you live in this place, in the land I gave your forefathers for ever and ever.
But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless.
“ʻWill you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury, burn incense to Baal and
follow other gods you have not known, and then come and stand before me in this
house, which bears my Name, and say, “We are safe”—safe to do all these detestable
things? Has this house, which bears my Name, become a den of robbers to you?
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but
deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. Pure religion and undefiled
before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their
affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. (KJV)
If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his
tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. Religion that God our
Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and
widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the
world. (NIV)
Stop all your dirty living. Stop doing so many wrong things. Listen quietly to the word
that has been put in your hearts. It is able to save you.
Obey God's word. Do not just listen to it. If you just listen to it, you fool yourselves.
Anyone who just listens to the word, and does not obey it, is like a man who looks at
his face in a looking glass. He looks at himself and goes away, and right away he
forgets what he looked like.
But there is a law that is all right. It sets people free from their old ways. Anyone who
looks into that law and remembers it, is happy because he obeys the law. He does
not just listen to the law and forget it, but he obeys what the law says.
Some of you think that you are doing what God wants. But you are not careful what you
say. If you are like that, you are fooling yourself. And you are not doing what God
wants. This is what God the Father wants. It is clean and right. Go and help those
who have no father and mother. Go and help widow women whose husbands are
dead. These people have troubles. And keep yourself clean from the wrong things
in the world. (World English New Testament) http://biblegateway.com
