Western Town College is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Vancouver and Toronto.

ESL AM: Grammar

In our morning classes, students learn the fundamental grammar points necessary to communicate in
English. Our lowest levels of grammar are suitable for beginners, while our highest levels of grammar are
T o w n

suitable for students preparing to study at English-speaking universities.

ESL PM: Electives

Students can choose afternoon elective classes appropriate to their English speaking ability and interests.
Our elective classes, such as Street Speak, Vocabulary, Pronunciation and Speaking, help students learn
how to communicate effectively in English.

The Co-op Program at Western Town College offers students the opportunity to improve their
English language ability and gain real work experience in Canada!

English Classes + Work Experience

First Step

Improve your English skills at Western Town College for a minimum


of 12 weeks in our ESL Full-Time program. Students must
successfully complete a minimum of ESL Level 5 before starting

Second Step

Once students have achieved the required level in our ESL


Full-Time program, they can begin the job interview process.

Pay Rate

The minimum starting wage will be CAD$8 per hour as per


British Columbia’s Provincial law. The maximum wage will
depend on the employer and the industry (type of work
being done).

Immerse Yourself in Canadian Culture

The Co-op Program at Western Town College offers students the opportunity to improve their
English language ability and gain real work experience in Canada!

The Program

• Students must take WTC ESL Full-Time Courses for a minimum


of 12 weeks in order to participate in the Co-op Program.

• Students must be at least 18 years of age to participate in


the program.

• Students must obtain a Study and Work Permit (Co-op Permit),


or apply for a Working Holiday Visa.

• The work period cannot be longer than the study period,


and the work period will only begin after conclusion of the
study period. The work period has to be equal to or less
than the study period in duration. For example, if the study
program is 12 weeks long, then the work program must last
12 weeks or less.

• Students will attend workshops designed to help them with


job hunting, resume-writing, and interview skills.

• WTC will arrange for students to work with its business partners by arranging interviews with potential employers.

• The program is offered year-round; students may start the program on any Monday.

Program periods Placement Fee and Program Support


Study Program Work Program The placement fee is CAD$800 which includes
• Visa documentation.

16 weeks 16 weeks • Workshops, and job placement support.
18 weeks 18 weeks NOTE: This fee does not include the study program.
