INTRODUCTORY RITES

Commentator: Good morning brothers and sisters. Love has been defined in many different
ways. Today, we celebrate the fullness of love in the person of ROQUE and BABA, who will
begin their new life together as husband and wife. As they embrace their married life, we ask
the Lord to unite their hearts in unselfish harmony, so that mindful of the needs and wishes of
each other, they can live a devoted life serving God, even as they care for the children that they
will be blessed with. By God’s grace, may they accomplish His will in all things as they remain
faithful to one another all the days of their lives.

Please all rise to welcome the entourage as we witness the covenant of love which ROQUE and
BABA are about to seal.

The bridal procession begins…

Priest: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

People: Amen.

Priest: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy
Spirit, be with you all.

People: And also with you.

Priest: Dear brothers and sisters, we are gathered to celebrate the Holy Eucharist and to
witness the Sacrament of Marriage between ROQUE and BABA. As their Christian Family, we
remind them that they are called to a life of holiness and fidelity as husband and wife. Let us
rejoice with them and ask God’s blessing for them and their future children.

PENITENTIAL RITE

Priest: My brothers and sisters, to prepare ourselves to celebrate these sacred mysteries, let us
call to mind our sins.

Priest & People: I confess to Almighty God, and to you my brothers and sisters, that I have
sinned through my own fault, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and in what
I have failed to do; and I ask the Blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and you,
my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Priest: May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life.

People: Amen.

Priest: Lord, have mercy.

People: Lord, have mercy.

Priest: Christ, have mercy.

People: Christ, have mercy.

Priest: Lord, have mercy.

People: Lord, have mercy.

(Delete the “Gloria” part. No “Gloria” on non-Sunday and non-Solemnity Masses)

OPENING PRAYER

Priest: Father you have made the bond of marriage a holy mystery, a symbol of Christ’s love for
his Church. Hear our prayers for ROQUE and BABA. With faith in you and in each other they
pledge their love today. May their lives always bear witness to the reality of that love. We ask
this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

People: Amen.

Commentator: Please be seated for the Liturgy of the Word.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

FIRST READING (Genesis 2:18-24)

Reader: A reading from the Book of Genesis

Then the Lord God said: “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a suitable
partner for him.” So the Lord God formed out of the ground various wild animals and various
birds of the air, and he brought them to the man to see what he would call them; whatever the
man called each of them would be its name. The man gave names to all the cattle, all the birds
of the air, and all the wild animals; bot non proved to be the suitable partner for the man.

So the Lord God cast a deep sleep on the man, and while he was asleep, he tok one of his ribs
and closed up its place with flesh. The Lord God built up into a woman the rib that he had taken
from the man. When he brought her to the man, the man said: “This one, at last, is bone of my
bones and flesh from my flesh; This one shall be called ‘woman’, for out of ‘her man’ this one
has been taken.”

That is why a man leave his father and mother and clings to his wife and the two of them
become one body.
Reader: The Word of the Lord

People: Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM (Psalm 128)

Reader: Let our response be: Happy are those who fear the Lord.

People: Happy are those who fear the Lord.

Reader: Happy are you who fear the Lord,

who walk in his ways!
For you shall eat the fruit of your handiwork;
happy shall you be, and favored.

People: Happy are those who fear the Lord

Reader: Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine

in the recess of your home;
Your children like olive plants
around your table.

People: Happy are those who fear the Lord.

Reader: Behold, thus is the man blessed

who fears the Lord.
The Lord bless you from Zion:
may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem
all the days of your life.

People: Happy are those who fear the Lord.

SECOND READING (1 Corinthians 13:1-13)

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but I do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a
clanging cymbal. And if I have prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I
have all faith so that I can remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give away
everything I own, and if I give over my body in order to boast, but do not have love, I receive no
benefit.

Love is patient, love is kind, it is not envious. Love does not brag, it is not puffed up. It is not
rude, it is not self-serving, it is not easily angered or resentful. It is not glad about injustice, but
rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends. But if there are prophecies, they will be set aside; if there are tongues, they
will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be set aside. For we know in part, and we prophesy in
part, but when what is perfect comes, the partial will be set aside.

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. But when I
became an adult, I set aside childish ways. For now we see in a mirror indirectly, but then we
will see face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully
known. And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Reader: The Word of the Lord

People: Thanks be to God.

GOSPEL (Matthew 19:3-6)

Priest: The Lord be with you.

People: And also with you.

Priest: A reading from the holy gospel according to Matthew.

People: Glory to you, O Lord.

Priest: Some Pharisees approached him, and tested him, saying: “Is it lawful for a man to
divorce his wife for any cause whatsoever?” He said in reply, “Have you not read that from the
beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall
leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So
they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no human
being must separate.”

Priest: The Gospel of the Lord.

People: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Commentator: Please, all be seated and listed to the homily

(The couple faces the congregation as the people greets and receives them with a round of
applause.)

Commentator: Please, all stand for the Profession of Faith. May I request the principal
sponsors to return to their respective seats.

PROFESSION OF FAITH

Priest & People: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I
believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the
Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified,
died and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He
ascended into heaven, and was seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come
again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic
Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting. Amen.

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

Priest: Dear brothers and sister, let us now pray for the Church and for our newly-wedded
couple, whose marriage reflects the union of Christ and his Church. For every petition we will

LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST

(Veil and Cord ceremony)

Commentator: May I request the Veil Sponsors to place veil over ROQUE and BABA. (The veil
sponsors lay the veil over the head of the Bride and the shoulders of the Groom.)

The veil is the symbol of unity and togetherness. ROQUE and BABA, in baptism, you were
clothed with the white garment symblizing the new life of purity and joy in the Lord to which the
risen Christ has called you. We clothe you again with this precious garment as you enter into
the new phase of your life with God. Wear it unstained and the joy of the Holy Spirit shine forth
through all your children and everyone whom the Lord’s loving desire will bring into your life.

May I request the Cord Sponsors to place the cord over ROQUE and Ceclle. (The cord
sponsors place the cord over the shoulders of the couple in an 8-form)

ROQUE and BABA, let this cord symbolize the love which God binds your harts and souls
together. May your love grow stronger and help carry each other’s yoke with faithfulness and
love.

people. You restored man to grace in the saving mystery of redemption. You gave him a share
in the divine life through his union with Christ. You made him an heir of Christ’s eternal glory.
This outpouring of love in the new covenant of grace is symbolized in the marriage covenant
that seals the love of husband and wife and reflects your divine plan of love. Now, with angels
and archangels, and the whole company of heaven, we sing the unending hymn of your praise.

SANCTUS

Holy, Holy, Holy (to be sung)

Commentator: Please all kneel.

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER

Priest: Lord, you are holy indeed, the foundation of all holiness. Let your Spirit come upon
these gifts to make them holy, so that they may become for us the Body+ and Blood of our Lord,
Jesus Christ. Before he was given up to death, a death he freely accepted, he took bread and
gave you thanks. He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples and said:

Take this, all of you, and eat it:

This is my body which will be given up for you.

When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave yo thanks and praise, gave the cup
to his disciples, and said:

Take this, all of you, and drink from it:

This is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant.
It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven.
Do this in memory of me.

Priest: Let us proclaim the mystery of faith.

All (to be sung): Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

Commentator: Please, all stand. (Except the couple that remains kneeling)

Priest: In memory of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Father, this life-giving bread, this
saving cup. We thank you for counting us worthy to stand in your presence and serve you.
May all of us who share in the body and blood of Christ be brought together in unity by the Holy
Spirit.

Lord, remember your Church throughout the world; make us grow in love, together with
Benedict, our Pope, and Luis Antonio, our bishop, and all the clergy.

Remember our brothers and sisters who have gone to their rest in the hope of rising again;
bring them and all the departed into the light of your presence.
Have mercy on us all; make us worthy to share eternal life with Mary, the virgin Mother of God,
with the apostles, and with all the saints who have done your will throughout the ages. May we
praise you in union with them, and give you glory through your Son, Jesus Christ.

Priest: Through him, with him, in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours,
almighty Father, for ever and ever.

People: Amen.

As we forgive those who sin against us;
Do not bring us to the test
But deliver us from evil.

THE NUPTIAL BLESSING

Priest: Let My dear friends, let us ask God for his continued blessing upon ROQUE and BABA.

Holy Father, creator of the universe, maker of man and woman in your own likeness,
source of blessing for married life, we humbly pray to you for this woman who today is united
with her husband in this sacrament of marriage.

May your fullest blessing come upon her and her husband o that they may together rejoice in
our gift of married love (and enrich your Church with their children).

Lord, may they both praise you when they are happy and turn to you in their sorrows. May they
be glad that you help them in their work and know that you are with them in their need. May
they pray to you in the community of the Church, and be your witnesses in the world. May they
reach old age in the company of their friends, and come at last to the kingdom of heaven. We
ask this through Christ our Lord.

People: Amen.

PRAYER OF PEACE

Priest: LORD Jesus Christ, you said to your apostles: I leave you peace, my peace I give you.
Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and grant us the peace and unity of your
kingdom where you live for ever and ever.

People: Amen.

Priest: The peace of the Lord be with you always.

People: And also with you.

Priest: Let us offer each other the sign of peace.
