GC 2008: Barbarian Officially the Only Returning Class in Diablo 3

Some of the most anticipated game release would be the Diablo 3, because of its
past successful series. In Diablo 2 and 1, Blizzard has put together an awesome storyline
and various versatilities of character’s classes to pick on. The story and the action-packed
combat were always exciting, and it only intensifies when fighting against bosses.
However, Diablo 2 was later on found with too many hacks and cheats making the
community of gamers to be disappointed. It was later that Blizzard no longer
acknowledge the creation of Diablo 2. The news shook many fans, especially those who
really love the series of Diablo. Later on, the designer of the game, Jay Wilson announced
over last year that the diablo project would be continued and that Diablo 3 would be
developed and planned to be released on the year of 2009.

Many fans were curious to what they would be anticipating in the latest
installment of Diablo. The news said that most of the classes in Diablo 2 would no longer
exist in Diablo 3 except the Barbarian. Jay Wilson mentioned that most of the classes
were already perfect, and he had stated that only the barbarian had room for
improvement, therefore he would perfect it in Diablo 3. Most of the classes in Diablo 3
would be newly designed, and each of them would have their own versatility like in the
previous versions of Diablo. However, the developer of the game has not given any
further information other than the barbarian being the only class that would still exist in
Diablo 3. Many fans of the Diablo 2 classes are definitely anxious to hear further news of
the matter.

I myself was also a Diablo fan in the past. Diablo is one of the most exciting
games I have ever played. All the built-in classes have special abilities and unique traits,
making each to have a different style of tactics and development in skill and attributes.
My personal favorite class was the Barbarian and the Druid in Diablo 2. I was excited to
know that the Barbarian would be improved and still exists in Diablo 3. Perhaps to me,
Barbarian is one of the heroes that really challenge the game play, as it focuses on melee
attacks and can deal a lot of damage if used properly. Of course, I am also looking
forward for the release of Diablo 3. I can’t wait to see the new heroes that they would
make and all the continuation of the story-line that was actually seem to “end” in Diablo
2. One thing that is sure, Diablo 3 would be a game to be looked forward next year, it has
prove its success in the first and second installment, and I’m sure it would provide better
graphics and intensifying storyline and game play.

Mirror's Edge Leipzig Hands-On

These days, as technology grew, the dynamics and the quality of video gaming
have shown a great improvement. Just 10-20 years ago, games are still in a pretty bad
shape and the graphics are not realistic at all. These days gaming has offered a unique
game play, bringing gamers into unique experience into a unique world that they created.
3D gaming has become so advanced, making first person gaming one of the most realistic
game of all. Mirror’s Edge is one of the latest first person games that are still in
development today. Mirror’s Edge demo has shown a great quality of graphics, bringing
gamer into a superbly realistic environment. The demo that was shown in Leipzig game
convention has given some gamers an inner view of what the game looks like. It is a
simple game that allows gamer to play a character of a thief, in urban areas, with dynamic
movements across buildings. It also has an extra action packed escape against helicopters,
police and such. The game has put together a simple yet a creative game play, offering
various kinds of movements and bringing the world to life. It also has proven to provide
an extremely realistic graphics.

Other Leipzig games such as “Assassin Creed” have also shown a unique sets f
graphics with a very simple background story. I had played Assassin Creed before, and it
has proven to be a very dynamic game. It brings the player into the life of an assassin,
utilizing various weaponries and killing methods. Whenever the assassination is done, the
player always have to make an escape route, running away from guards, hiding in dark
and concealed areas, or disguising as other civilians. Often times, the games always
makes the adrenaline rushing, the pressure and all the fast-paced action makes the gamer
to always be aware upon its environment.

According to my own opinion as a gamer, Leipzig games have shown a great and
overwhelmingly realistic graphics that many gamers can enjoy. Sadly many of the games
haven’t bring the gamer too close towards its character, and it haven’t given a deep
storyline with various of emotions. At any rate, Leipzig games are probably one of the
best in offering fast paced action and deadly graphics for gamers to enjoy. However,
some elements of the game are often repeated, making it more boring in the end.
Therefore, many of Leipzig games have not become very popular among every gamer.
Nevertheless, I would say Mirror’s Edge might be a game to look forward to, because I’m
sure Leipzig would make some future improvements.

Russia Wants Control of Georgian City

Some of the troublesome world wide news is regarding the war between Russia
and Georgia. This war has been ongoing for weeks, and it has caught the attention of
many journalists and nations world-wide. The most interesting part of this is that the
Russian is ambitious counter-attack Georgia only because of a simple matter that which
was fueled when Georgia try to invade South Ossetia. Apparently, the Georgian did not
do anything to provoke the Russian. Unfortunately, seeing Russian past, it would looks as
if the Russia have been supporting the South Ossetian rebellion as a legitimate reason for
them to launch a counter attac.Until presently, the war had not ceased and Russia is
taking over Georgia little by little. It all seems that without any help at all, it would most
likely seem that Georgia would absolutely lose the war.

Some updates mentioning the war has stated that Russia has started to become
more reckless. Many of the Georgian military bases were severely looted, many houses
were destroyed and even worse and many innocent civilians are killed and left homeless.
Russian army is keeping their advance in taking over Georgian territory, and some major
countries like the US, France and Britain had tried to stop Russia’s action since it does
not comply with European Union-brokered cease-fire. From what these data said, Russia
seems to not only perform a counter-attack maneuver but is trying to take over Georgia.

Personally, this war would rather seem as a simple matter for some parts of the
world, because relatively, many people thought that the war wouldn’t get any worse. It’s
just a simple and silly war between the Russian, who actually have done such a thing in
the past, against the Georgian who apparently did not have any intention to wage war
with the Russians. Unfortunately, if we took example and reflect the incident of the past,
all world wars are caused by very simple and silly matters. However, I don’t really think
the war is the worst part of the entire problem. The worst part is that the Western
countries didn’t seem to take this problem seriously. They haven’t seemed to show any
real sign of support in taking control of the war. I personally didn’t know why, however it
may just be one of those incident that would fuel the world war. Certainly, if another
world war, specifically a third world war occurs, the world would be in utter chaos.
Seeing that Russia and Georgia is not really a major country in the Europe, it bothers me
that the Britain, Italy, French haven’t done much to suppress the Russian assault against
Georgia. At any rate, I or maybe many people in the whole world would like to see some
improvement of the problem. Not just the fact that this is reckless, but since many
innocent lives are being endangered because of the war.

Want to Save the Trees? Try Paying People Not to Chop Them Down.

This is just one of those regular articles about deforestation and global warming.
Why read it then? This article has offered some interesting facts that we can digests in
our mind. As we know, the world is still hungry and addicted to the use of fossil fuels.
Apparently, these effects wouldn’t be thoroughly fatal if deforestation does not happen.
Now, one of the most contradicting facts is bio-fuels. This article mention that most
deforestation happened as the world started to buy bio-fuels and such. Therefore, they cut
many trees in order to plant palm, corn and some other plants. Well, it seems bio-fuels do
reduce pollution that is emitted, but it is also reducing the important actor that “eats” that
pollution from the air.
Here is the most interesting fact, deforestation is still growing rapidly and
between 1999 and 2040, deforestation would grow as much as 50 percent, according to
the US Census Bureau. Now, approximately, the world lost 32 million acres of forest each
year, which is equivalent to 50 football fields every minute. Could you imagine how
“epic” this actually is. Wood has been a very important resource of nature; in fact we can
see it everyday in our houses. Sadly, we humans are taking more than giving it back.
Most of us are not being sustainable to our environment, and worst yet, many of us didn’t
really care.
One interesting thing about global warming and climate changes is that it is a non-
linear change. It does increase in a same rate each and every year; in fact it increases
dramatically, because one factor may cause another factor that also contributes to global
warming. One simple example is the deforestation. People cleared the forest, which
contains trees. The trees themselves eat the carbon in the air to reduce green house gases
and green house effects. As the trees were cut, the carbon stored in the tree would be
released into the air, producing pollution. Worse yet, many people use fire to remove the
trees much more efficiently. Even more, as the temperature become more intensifying,
forest fire become more often which also contributes in making global warming worse.
Yet the article had said one very interesting thing, in fact it is the purpose of the article, it
has offered a suggestion that we can stop deforestation by paying people not to do it.
Furthermore, the article has provide example, such as the REDD, which may later help
some countries to actually reduce deforestation. However, not all country accepted
REDD due to some political issues. Nevertheless, the article had also stated some
interesting facts, and one of them is also about Indonesia.
Personally, I think that all dilemmas about global warming regarding
deforestation are nearly unstoppable completely. As population grows, more space is
needed, and more houses would be built including all the furniture inside it. However, it
is not a worthless effort to try to reduce the amount of deforestation. As long as the world
is still addicted to the use of fossil fuels, we still need our forest to reduce it. However,
even many ways have been done to contribute in stopping deforestation, I have never
heard of the idea in paying people not to do it. I myself would think that’s a very logical
and simple idea that many countries would be able to do. Sure we can do many kinds of
programs to teach people in conserving our forests, yet many of these people are blinded
by their greedy nature. Paying people to do it might seem ridiculous, but if it would be
organized well enough, it should work and have some effect to contribute to the dilemma.

Police Report 12 Dead in Pakistan Suicide Blast

Apparently, there was breaking news regarding a suicide bombing on Pakistan. It

was said that the motives was revenge regarding a military offensives, and the suicide
bombing was done on Saturday, 6 September during presidency vote on the outskirts of
Peshawar. The blast damagers a nearby market and kills more than a dozen of people
including police, and injures many people as a result of collapsing debris. The articles
said that the Pakistani Taliban at Pakistan’s North West were responsible for a recent
series of suicide bombings. However, this is considered as breaking news, and further
updates may be added regarding the incident. The article also mentioned Asif Ali Zardari,
widower of ex-Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, was expected to win the presidency in
Saturday's vote. He has vowed to be tough on militancy.

I couldn’t understand why such incidents are so common in the Middle-East,

especially to Muslim people, even in Indonesia. The Bali suicide bombing which also
devastates many of the tourism places in Kuta also caused a lot of damages and lives
were lost, yet this bombing is also done by Muslim people. Even so, not only bombing
and terrorism is the common incidents, in the Middle-East. Pakistan, Israel and other
countries around the area often wage war on one another, just because of simple reasons
that probably not many of us couldn’t understand. Furthermore, like terrorism, the
motives only want to cause chaos because of the desire of having revenge. Many of these
incident put innocent lives on the line and it should stop not because it is irrational, but it
is inhuman.

Aside from the bombing incident, the last part of the article also mentioned
something interesting. The presidency vote was supposed to be won by a Asif Ali Zardari
because the person is tough on militancy. It could have meant that the people hate each
other so much that they would need a leader that is tough enough to lead the fight and try
to take each other down. If we look at it closely, those countries are still suffering from
many social problems, yet they have a very strong nationalism and often wage war upon
one another. They often do not consider how many innocent people that died because of
their ignorant behavior. What did actually cause such hatred, is it because of different
beliefs among Muslim or other particular reasons? The weirdest part is that like
Christians, Muslim is also taught to do good things and help one another, yet they killed
their “brothers”.

Africa endorses WHO campaign for patient safety

This article was very interesting, since it offers information that many of us
should know, but we might not know. We always trust doctors who always had the same
interest like us at hand. Nevertheless, in hospitals around the world there are those who
are unfortunate enough, to receive a poor medication as a result of poor sanitation
methods. Hygiene and the cleanliness of a syringe, scalpel or other medical tools are very
crucial during use. Yet many hospital in some developing countries around the world still
lack attention in these matters. As a result, many patients are prone to infections, and it is
said that 1.4 million of people are still suffering from this at any given time. This problem
is known as Health care – Associated Infections (HAI).

We all know Africa is one of the poorest countries around the world. This adds the
fact that hygiene statuses in the hospitals are also very poor. With the WHO making
programs encouraging the safety in the sterilization and hygiene of medical tools before
use, many people or many lives could be prevented from suffering this dilemma. With the
signing of the program, 8 African countries has signed the pledge, with a total of over 80
countries world-wide each having their commitment on the pledge. The article also
mentioned that these countries represents 80 percent of the world population had taken
part in WHO program. Such things can be considered simple, but world-wide it should
save many lives. In this problem, WHO had make an agreement that each of the countries
taking part in the program should keep the WHO well-informed about their medical and
hospital status around their area, which also ensures the people’s health and providing
safe medical health care. In addition, the WHO had designed some cheap methods and
strategies that should help many of these countries in overcoming the HAI problem.

I believe that the world must cooperate in tackling world-wide health problems.
As a human, we should offer help to those who in need, especially those who are most
vulnerable. Africa as a continent that hosts a great amount of population also has many
countries that are still developing and suffering from various social and health problems.
WHO has taken a big role since the past in destroying various world-wide diseases.
Diseases such as the Polio is unknown to present generations anymore, yet in the past it
has taken many lives. Thanks to the effort of WHO and many people involved, they have
provided many immunization world-wide in exterminating the disease. Although this is
only an example in the past, and I believe that the world should always put their effort in
saving lives of many humankind from diseases. Even for something simple such as
infection because of HAI, it is not something that we could underestimate. Some of us
who are lucky enough may not care about such problem, but those who do care should
think of those who suffer from it.

Cheney slams Russia for invading Georgia

It has seems that the United States has started to show actions in their
commitment in helping Georgia during the war. Vice President Dick Cheney has started
to mobilize various helps including economical and military help for Georgia. The
Russian has gone way too far in invading the South Ossetian region of Georgia, since
they has blurred the borders of Georgia with their invading army. Now, the United States
had come to the side of Georgia, taking its place in helping to cease the war by force, or
not if possible. Cheney has fully committed the US in helping the war, and stopping it
once and for all. Some of the few reasons is that Georgia had also a history in helping the
US during the war in Iraq by sending a great amount of troops. Furthermore, seeing that
the Russia is prone in taking over some crucial oil pipelines that run along the Caspian
Sea shores to Turkey and the Western Europe, the US is putting their effort in preventing
this.

I’d say it’s about time someone takes more concrete action in stopping the war.
Since mid August, the US only gives many statements that criticized the Russia for its
reckless action towards Georgia, although they haven’t shown any concrete action up
until now. Nevertheless, at any point of view, Georgia direly needs the help, because they
themselves wouldn’t stand a chance in fighting against the Russian. If no one dares to
take any quick action, Georgia would surely lose to the Russian.

In a different point of view, if other European country in the Soviet Union backed
up Russian in reaction to this incident, a disaster could and might have happen. In the
history of World War, the direct cause is always from something generally simple. A
business of both countries having a war, making other country stepped in and also
making the neighboring country also involved. It might have been a very dramatic world-
wide event if another World War does happen. It might devastate Europe or the United
States in a matter of a few years. Although up until now, many opinion has stated that
many countries would help the Georgia because of its oil supply. Yet, maybe there are
countries that would back up Russia to counter maneuver the United States in the war.

Microsoft Works to Perfect Windows Vista

The latest and world-renown operating system on PCs that was brought by
Microsoft was Windows Vista. Vista has brought a very unique PC experience featuring
higher security, facilities and eases many functional programs. Sadly, even many features
were added to the latest installment of Windows, many people who are not considered as
a technology enthusiast does not found Windows Vista worth it. The higher need of PC
requirement, slower processes, too many software and hardware updates and the
overwhelming driver updates makes Vista stumble and weren’t successful up until now.
The stumble of Microsoft Windows has made some other operating system to take their
chances such as the Apple Macintosh operating system apparently provide user friendly
function, fast processes and elegant design with good graphic processing.

Now, Microsoft team is designing a plan to republish and rework the

advertisement and the sales of Windows Vista to a higher level. They are planning
various kinds of method to promote Windows Vista, while adding more user-friendly
function trying to change the mind of users to upgrade to Windows Vista. Surely, without
it, Vista would be the last of Windows installment. Microsoft has provide many programs
that speeds up the process, while advertising many of it’s user friendly features through
many computer stores around the world by providing “Windows gurus” who would tutor
the customer in upgrading Windows Vista. Furthermore, Windows has started to invest
their budget in working more closely to software developer in making more and more
software that is well and more compatible with Windows Vista. They hope that with these
efforts, Windows Vista may make a come back and defeat their rivals.

I myself considered upgrading to Vista could be a waste of time. Windows Vista is

considered as a slow operating system with a high system requirements that often crash
because of inappropriate hardware drivers. It took a lot of software updates to keep up to
date with Windows Vista. Moreover, Windows Vista is often more complex and very
aggravating when it asked for certain security confirmation. It always has many security
updates and weird which apparently should be useful, but not user-friendly. Probably it is
because of these several reasons too, other users think that upgrading to Windows Vista is
not worth the money and effort.

Nevertheless, with some of the features and additional information that the article
mentioned, Microsoft really is determined in changing the people’s perspective in the
usage of Windows Vista. In the next year, it should be reliable enough and should prevent
any system crashes and damages while providing optimum performance and security. I
think I would look forward to some of the latest updates for Windows Vista which
probably provides better and more satisfying facilities.

Alien Resurrection
A Motion Picture written by Joss Whedon
Novelization by A. C. Crispin

One of the most famous motion pictures that were started in the late 1960s has
released it latest and its last episode. As the movie started, Ellen Ripley, who eventually
becomes the main character from the first to the third series of Alien had died saving
humankind from the thread of the grotesque, deadly and merciless creatures. In the fourth
and final series of the quadrilogy, Ellen Ripley was awakened in a cryotube as a result of
advanced technology in cloning after many years from her death. She was being
researched inside a huge ship, Auriga on the outskirts near Pluto. Some scientist recreated
her for military and biological purposes from the remains of her DNA. The baby queen of
the alien inside her stomach which also died with her was also cloned. The sole purpose
however, was to retrieve the baby queen and make more of these alien creatures in order
to study them. However, it was later on that most of the scientists avert their attention
mainly towards Ripley, who eventually grew inhuman strength and speed. It was later
that the captain of the Auriga commissioned pirates to sent them innocent victims as a
breeding host of the Alien’s offspring. Eventually, as the Alien was being breed, and their
bonds became stronger, chaos and havoc was created. The aliens break loose and sought
to save the queen and making the huge ship part of his nest. The Ship’s crew however,
would become the food for their offspring. What makes things worse is that ship Auriga
is designed to head towards Earth automatically for investigation if something fatal
happened the crew of the pirates found themselves fighting for their life, and so was
Ripley who sought to save humanity and fighting against herself, as she fells a deep
connection towards the alien in this life time.

Although I did not watch any of the motion pictures of Alien, I found this novel
very interesting, filled with action, suspense and a fantasy beyond imagination. Although
this is a novelization of the motion picture, I can feel as much thrill as how the movie
would offer. Personally, this novel has been a great way to spend my time with. The last
sequence seems to have pushed the limit of imagination. For a science fiction novel, this
novel has offered a very original idea. Who would’ve thought that Ellen Ripley who had
her life ended to save humanity would be reborn again to fight another day and save
humanity once more? The writer was able to illustrate every event very clearly, and as I
read through the novel I was able to vision every event that occurs. All the events in the
story have a lot of emotion to it: sadness, suspense, rage and anger even despair. Event by
event, surprises always caught you by, as people dies like flies and each event seems to
be outrageously violent. Moreover, as you get submerge into the story, you feel a close
connection toward each and every character. Allowing you to actually feel what each
character had felt. Even for a violent movie, the story also offers many lessons to be
learnt. You will realize that betrayal may offer a grim end towards someone, and that
there are no more things more precious than friends especially in times when you really
need one.
Although the Alien has offered many interesting and enjoyable experience, many
aspects of the novel still needs improvement. Many of the fonts in the novel are just
packed tightly and so small making it a painful experience as I read through it. Moreover,
many of the vocabulary are difficult to understand, making this story suitable only for
level of expert readers. Even so, it still does not reduce the quality of the story.
Nevertheless, the main flaw of the story is probably pushing everything too far, making
some part even unlikely to be possible in any future. Especially, how it is possible from
making a clone out of shrapnel of DNA that was left after a huge explosion. Nevertheless,
it’s a good story and it worth your while in expanding your imagination to something that
might live beyond our world. Nevertheless, that’s probably the strong aspect of Sci-Fi.

I would highly recommend this to anyone, as long as the person is able to gain a
good understanding toward many English vocabularies. It’s a story worth spending your
time, and surely for those of you who never watched Alien and wonder how the story
goes. It might not be as scary as the movie does, but it wouldn’t reduce the amount of
thrill you might experience.
