Mark Mallory Dudley Rutherford
2011 NACC President Welcome to the 2011 NACC! As we strive to change the world with the Good News of Jesus Christ, what better biblical text to examine than the book of Acts, which records the inception and impact of the first century Church! In developing this years theme, Unleashed, I was captivated by the growth and influence of the early Church described in Acts, and the ripple effect that was felt around the world. After the Holy Spirit was unleashed upon the Church and the Church was unleashed upon the world, there was a seismic confrontation between Christians and the cultural, religious, and political norms of the day. Acts 4:13 reveals that when outsiders saw the courage of Peter and John and realized they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and took note that these men had been with Jesus. My prayer is thatas Unleashed comes alive through passionate speakers, ministry-enriching studies, and electrifying worship musicordinary people like you and me will be inspired to take the supernatural power of God to the ends of the earth. May the miraculous working of God in our local churches shine forth in the cities in which we live. May outsiders be amazed by our courage, taking note that we, too, have been with Jesus, and may Gods people be unleashed, truly transforming the world!

Mayor of Cincinnati On behalf of the City of Cincinnati and all its citizens, I am pleased to WELCOME the North American Christian Convention to Cincinnati for the 2011 NACC. Our central geographic locations, and our picturesque setting along the Ohio river, make this the ideal city for meetings and conventions. Cincinnati offers world class accommodations, a variety or award-winning restaurants and shopping opportunities including, Macys, Saks Fifth Avenue and Tiffanys as well as nearby outlet malls. When the days meetings are over, you will find a variety of entertainment options. Cincinnati is home to a top rated zoo, museums and historic sites. A night in Cincinnati might include a performance at the Cincinnati Symphony, a Broadway Production at the Aronoff Center or smaller productions at the Playhouse in the Park. As the Mayor of Cincinnati, I invite you to experience Cincinnatis big-city vibrancy and small town charm for yourself. You will see why Cincinnati is known throughout as the Queen City.

NACC Board of Stewards Chairman The planning for each convention begins in earnest more than two years in advance with the selection of persons who will be instrumental in putting together a challenging program. Watching the momentum build as a theme is chosen and then starts to take shape is a humbling experience. Thousands of hours are invested in prayer, conversation, and meeting to find just the right combination of workshops, sermon topics, and speakers to minister to those who will be in attendance. The Board of Stewards is pleased you have made the effort to spend the next few days taking advantage of this opportunity to be inspired, equipped, and blessed. We are confident you will sense the joy and anticipation that was present in the early church as believers discovered the Unleashed power of God to impact the world for Christ. Exciting times are ahead for the Church and we pray what you find at the NACC are the tools and fellowship you need for effective ministry in the Body of Christ. Have a wonderful convention! 3

2011 NACC National Prayer Chairman Welcome to Cincinnati. Weve been expecting you. Weve been praying for you. Were excited for you because we truly believe God is about to do a mighty work among His people and His Church here this week. Why, because weve asked Him to. This years theme, UNLEASHED!The Church Turning the World Upside Down, refocuses our attention on the Church that Jesus built, that first century Church, which through the power of the Holy Spirit, who was UNLEASHED on Pentecost; confronted and upended the worldly systems and culture of its time. Our prayer is that as we refocus on this Church from the book of Acts, we might realize we are that same Church today; endowed with and empowered by the same Holy Spirit. Our desire is to help the Church break the bonds of status quo existence and thinking, bringing out the reality that the dunamis or power of the Holy Spirit that was UNLEASHED on the Early Church has not lost any of His energy or ability to continue turning this present world upside down.

We as a team have prayed over every aspect of this years program from the main sessions, worship, bible studies, workshops, special events, and even the Exhibit Hall that they specifically meet Gods need for you to help fully UNLEASH His Spirit in you. Weve even had prayer warriors across the country praying for this time via a daily tweet request over the last several months, so we know it will be an exciting time, because God honors prayer. As always, you are more than welcome to spend time in our designated prayer room seeking Gods wisdom for what He is sharing with you this week. So, we pray that you will not leave here in the same heart you came, but UNLEASHED!

From President Dudley Rutherfords opening challenge to the closing words of Francis Chan and Jeff Walling, we trust that God will unleash fresh power and renewed vision for His church this week! Ive been attending the NACC for 25 years and even proposed to my wife after the opening session in 1988. But Ive never been more excited than I am about this years power-packed program. Hundreds of people have been enthusiastically preparing for your visit and are eager to serve you. Downtown Cincinnati and the surrounding areas on both sides of the river offer a great deal to see and do. So have fun, create a few unforgettable memories, but most of all, prepare for the unleashing of Gods power in your life!

2011 NACC Local Arrangements Co-Charperson In 1849 Alexander Campbell was elected president of the First General Convention in Cincinnati. Despite this appointment, he did not actually attend the convention. It is said that Campbell refrained from attending because he was fearful that Cincinnati would surpass his native Bethany, West Virginia, as the epicenter of the Restoration Movement. Well, were glad that YOU have decided to join us for this years convention in Cincinnati (and that you didnt accidentally end up in Bethany!). The contribution of our city toward the independent Christian Churches is undeniable. Were the home of numerous parachurch organizations, an influential institution of higher learning, and a wealth of Restoration History. But perhaps our biggest asset is our collection of congregations. Greater Cincinnati is home to some amazing churches that have united this week to ensure a powerful convention. Like you, our volunteers are ready for the Spirit to be UNLEASHED in this city. Were proud of Cincinnati and for the opportunity to host the NACC for the sixth time. Welcome back!

NACC Managing Director and Meeting Planner Welcome to the 2011 NACC-Unleashed! I smile with excitement as I welcome you, because my staff and I know MUCH about the many special moments that have been planned for your participation this week. Thank you for being here. Dudley Rutherford, our 2011 NACC President, and his Executive Committee have put careful thought into the take-aways of this event. They have been prayerful that this investment of your time will be a blessing which you can take home with you. God has a plan for YOU and your church, and HE will unleash that plan upon you this week. I encourage you to expand your participation beyond the inspirational main sessions. Try one of the many pre-conference events; visit the large exhibit hall and learn what is happening in Kingdom work; plan for and attend one of the 75+ workshops; buy a ticket and enjoy one of the fun-filled special event breakfasts, luncheons, or the Presidents open to all Banquet. Unleash some of your time this week and work an hour or two in one of our service projects, where we can Unleash the Church on the hungry and malnourished in our world. You will not be able to attend everything, so enjoy what you can and share your special moments with those you meet here, and back home. Speaking of home, be sure to pick up resources in the way of books, workshop and main session CDs and DVDs, and take some home to your church and friends. Be sure to get a copy of the Unleashed book and the related small group materials and HD DVDs that will help you take the UNLEASHED message back home. Please join us daily in prayer. While here, please pray for the NACC, as there is much going on. Pray for the overall safety of our attendees and the 1,000+ local volunteers that help with the event. Pray that the special moments we share and experience this week, together, will unleash our church upon the world and turn the world upside down. God Bless. Welcome, AND HAVE A GREAT NACC WEEK! 4

2011 NACC Local Arrangements Co-Charperson Thousands of believers from all over North America and the world are gathering to experience the refreshing power of God! Its reminiscent of the scene in Acts 2 when those assembled from every nation experienced the unleashing of Gods power in such an unforgettable way. We welcome you to the beautiful Tri-State region of Cincinnati USA! And we do so with great anticipation that Gods power will be unleashed upon us once again right here.

Acts 1:8, You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Tied with Acts 10, we will see how the events unfolded in the life of Peter and Cornelius where God renewed his plea for the Gospel to be available for all people. This message will address the lack of diversity, the importance for intentionality in reaching people of color, and instead of lagging behind the rest of our culture, we (the Church) should take the LEAD in including people from all walks of life. about the speaker: Daryl Reed, DC Regional Christian Church, Washington, DC For over a decade Daryl has been serving as Lead Minister of Dc Regional christian church, a multiracial congregation in the Washington DC area. announcements/speaker intro: Stephen Sams, Axis Christian Church, Lebanon, OH Morning Message ii: Innumerable, based on Acts 2:41 Acts 2:41 states, those who accepted his message were baptized and about 3000 were added to their number that day. By the time you get to verse 47, the Bible states, And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. And Acts 4:4, but many who heard the message believed, and the number of men grew to about 5000. As the Church continues to grow, as reported in the book of Acts, eventually there were too many people to count. This message will share the GOOD that God is doing in our churches and in our world, with the Church being UNLEASHED in ways that impact and evangelize the multitudes one by one. We will focus on evangelism and the empowerment of the local church to reach entire cities and to grow beyond our wildest imaginations. about the speaker: Greg Nettle is senior pastor of Rivertree christian church in northern Ohio, where he has served for twenty-two years. The power evidenced in the New Testament church should be evidenced in the 21st Century church. Our challenge is to get back to seeing the Holy Spirit move in our lives and in our ministries as He did in the first church. about the speaker: Phil is the pastor of the vine, the young adult ministry at shepherd of the Hills church in Porter Ranch, CA. Some 3,000 miles away from his southern roots of Georgetown, SC, Phil reaches his generation with passion. The Gospel spread in the first century by believers who gave lavishly and sacrificially. The Church today has the same call as did that first church. about the speaker: Dave Stone is the Senior Minister of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky, where he preaches the Truth to over 19,000 people each weekend. If you are not content to cruise through life, it is up to you to do something! Transparent and insightful, Miles McPherson tells it like it is as he shares from his own experience as an ambitious professional football player turned pastor who had to learn things the hard way. With powerful true stories of everyday people making a difference and illustrations from the life of Christ, Miles takes you through the 5 Ps of making your life count: preparation, purpose, pain, power, and passion. Then, he offers practical suggestions for living out your faith in a way that impacts the lives of others. about the speaker: Miles McPherson is the Senior Pastor of the Rock Church in San Diego and President of Miles Ahead Ministries. In 1982 McPherson realized his childhood dream of playing in the NFL when he was drafted to the Los Angeles Rams. He was then cut from the team and picked up by the San Diego Chargers where he played for four years. everything the world told him would bring happiness parties, drugs, womenbut he was left feeling empty. Then, teammate Sherman Smith asked McPherson a simple question, If you were to die right now, would you go to heaven? In 1984, McPherson gave his life to Jesus Christ.

Join Bob Russell each morning for a verse by verse study series though the first four chapters of the book of Acts. This study will encourage you to seek a healthy balance between your commitment to restore the fundamental principles and spirit of the New Testament church with your commitment to be relevant and meet the needs of the current culture. about the speaker: God has blessed Bob Russell with a life much different than one he could have ever imagined. Daily Devotions
July 6, 2011
Wednesdays devotions focus on the Power of the Holy Spirit in Matthew 28:18-20 and how it relates to the Great Commission. Chris Steidman, Fernado Soto and Wing Won have written on the topic in English, Spanish and Chinese, respectively. For the Thursday devotions, Danny Furukawa, Dr. Claudio Divino and Jim Tune respond in English, Spanish, and French to the topic of diversity based on Rev. 7:9-10. Friday, Herb Botts (English), Salvador Fuentes (Spanish), and Al Dimanno (Tagalog) offer devotions on the topic of prayer, based on John 17:20-26. All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing chris seidman @chrisseidman them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:18-20) Lets be honest. We have our days when the Great Commission seems more like mission impossible. This is why its so important for us to remain rooted in the two great promises surrounding the Great Commission that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Jesus (vs.18), and He is with us (vs.20). As the story unfolds in Acts, we find that the Holy Spirit is the expression of His withness in the lives of His disciples. We talk often about our witness for Christ as disciples. But the power of our witness is through His withness in our lives. The Spirit of God is so necessary to the witness of the disciples in Acts, that, after spending 40 days teaching them about the kingdom of God (Acts 1:1-2), Jesus tells them to go back to Jerusalem and wait for the gift of the Spirit. Why? Because through the Spirit they would receive power to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). Theres a difference between being informed about the kingdom and being empowered with the kingdom. The Holy Spirit is the difference. Its worth noting that the name Christ means Anointed One. What Jesus did, He did by the power of the Spirit. It was by the power of the Spirit that - He was conceived (Luke 1:35), He preached (Isaiah 61:1), He drove out demons (Matthew 12:28), He healed (Acts 10:38), He offered Himself unblemished to God (Hebrews 9:14), and He was raised from the dead (Romans 8:11). It was by the power of the Spirit that Jesus did what He did to the glory of God. And its only by the power of the Spirit that the Great Commission will be realized to the glory of God. Theres a withness behind our witness. Were not alone.

Daily Devotions
July 7, 2011
Recently I embarked on a day trip from L.A. to North Orange County. My plan was to test the public transportation system to see if I could save Danny furukawa money on my weekly trip by taking the bus and train rather than driving my car. I knew it would be hard but also knew there could be substantial savings in gas money. Almost from the beginning though, I ran into obstacles. Unlike many major cities in the world, Los Angeles lacks options and frequencies in bus or train schedules. After 3 buses and a subway ride to get to the halfway point, I decided that the journey was not worth the effort. So, I turned around and came back home. Diversity Most of us believe that diversity is a great destination but not an easy road. We love the idea of it, but getting from where we are to arriving at Diversity station is just not worth the effort. Many of us have even tried more than a few times, but obstacles like rejection and ridicule eventually brought us back home where its safe and familiar. Read John 4, the familiar passage on Jesus and the woman at the well. Verse 4 says, He had to go through Samaria. The normal way to travel from Judea to Galilee was along the Jordan River where the journey was easier. Many of us learned from Sunday School that there was a mutual hatred between Jews and Samaritans. Yet, Jesus intentionally went through Samaria for the purpose of taking living water to a people group despised by the Jews. To make matters worse, he not only went to the outcast, but to the outcast of the outcast, to the woman who couldnt even come to the well with the other women because of her reputation. Read Revelation 7: 9 & 10 After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb. I encourage you to ponder the following statements as you contemplate the plans God has for you on your journey toward diversity. Diversity is what Jesus went out of his way to establish. Diversity only happens intentionally. Diversity is a picture of Heaven.

Often I wonder what it would have been like to not have the parents I have. Growing up in Watts during the 1965 riots, seeing the civil rights Herb botts struggle right before @unleashed2011 my eyes, my parents @twitter consistently reinforced that I could grow up to be anything I wanted. They were there to push me, direct me, and focus my energies on succeeding in life, something they envisioned for all my brothers and sisters. And they prayed: earnestly, openly, and consistently that we would make it. Knowing such support always existed opened my mind to many opportunities. It was like being a kid unleashed in a candy store what to choose? Sports, education, business, government, so many choices to make a difference in the world. Making a difference or a positive impact on the world really mattered to my parents. From John 17:20-26 were reminded that Jesus, in the last hours of his earthly life, took time to pray specifically for us: I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message. All of us came to accept and believe in Jesus Christ through someone who discipled us. Isnt it great to know that Jesus prayed for YOU! That He wants YOU! And thats not the greatest part of His prayer. Read further, He prayed that we: Be ONE or UNITED! Be loved by God! Be where He is! See His glory! Be empowered to tell His story! Not only did He want us, but He wants all these great blessings for us: to belong, to be loved, to have hope and purpose. Dont you know? This prayer is all about us believers being UNLEASHED in the world so that the world may believe that God sent His Son. That can only happen when we take a stand against the culture of the day, to live as if Jesus were living in and through us. Heres the question we must answer: knowing God gave Jesus the desires of his heart, and knowing this is what Jesus prayed for, how can we sit still? There is no greater time than today, and no greater moment than now for all of us to tell the world that Jesus prayed for them, Jesus loves them, and He died and rose for them. We are the UNLEASHED, the opportunities are unlimited, and the Holy Spirit is still capable. I pray youre up for it!

Gathering Place. At the nacc Ministry networking breakfasts, there will be three or four groups facilitated by women. It will be a great place to exchange ideas and meet other women involved in ministry. Over six hundred women stopped by the gathering Place at the 2010 NACC, reflecting the fact that the GP has become an increasingly important part of the Womens Conference. It is a comfortable, inviting area (with chocolate!) that will be staffed by women who are there to listen, to encourage or to pray. Speakers and authors will come by after their sessions and pertinent resources will be recommended (and will be available for purchase at the nearby Standard Publishing booth). Its a perfect place to fellowship and to network.

Gifts of Time Grant Programs for Pastoral Leaders

Pastoral Study Project Grants Pursuing your passion for study.
A sustained season to read, to reflect, to collaborate, and to write. The Louisville Institute grants pastoral leaders time away from the office to invest their energy in projects that matter for the whole church. Grants of up to $15,000 make it possible to take time away from the press of your workplace and pursue a project you have long desired to undertake or complete. Pastoral Study Project grant proposals are due August 15.

Sabbatical Grants for Pastoral Leaders Slowing down, to fall in love again.
A time apart to renew your vocation and ministry. The Louisville Institute offers leaders of Christian ministry institutions sabbatical opportunities for rest, reflection, renewal, and recreation. Grants of $10,000 (eight weeks) or $15,000 (twelve weeks) will be awarded for an uninterrupted time to refresh you and revitalize your ministry. Proposals for the Sabbatical Grants for Pastoral Leaders program are due September 1.

Standard Publishing is looking for people who answer YES to these questions!

David Vsquez, a Pastoral Study Project grantee, is Campus Pastor at Luther College (Decorah, Iowa). His project People on the Move explores migration narratives in the Bible and in contemporary North America, sharing vital wisdom for Christian faith and practice today.

STUDENT MINISTRY
sponsored by: Youth in Ministry The World According to Gleeks: Youth Ministry Lessons from Glee (Millennium Hotel, Grand Ballroom A) Wednesday 2:00 PM Curtis Booher Why does the television show Glee resonate with teenagers? This was the question I asked a number of students at the college where I teach. The answers were insightful and surprising. The discussions ranged from struggles with bullying to struggles with sex. This workshop will provide windows through a popular television show and into the world of real teens. Every person concerned with young people should take a look. Imagining the Future of Youth Ministry: The Results (Millennium Hotel, Grand Ballroom A) Wednesday 3:30 PM Curtis Booher During the NACC of 2007 and 2008, forums were held to discuss the future of youth ministry. After an analysis of the data that came from those forums, five themes have emerged that are important to anyone concerned with the direction of youth ministry. The five themes and their implications will be presented in this workshop. We will also discuss practical ideas for incorporating these trends into our ministries. Tough Questions (Millennium Hotel, Grand Ballroom A) Thursday 2:00 PM Curtis Booher, Mark Hancher, Steve Poston, Jeanne Stevens Student Ministers are encouraged to join the teens for this panel discussion. We ask the teens, Do you have questions for God or about God, but never seem to know the answers? Are you questioning why some things are going on in your life that does not make sense? Do you ever have questions about the Bible or about life in general and how it relates to how you should live for God, but never feel like you can ask the question or you never get it answered in a way that helps you understand? We give the teens a chance to ask those tough questions and have them answered in a practical and helpful way. Soul School: Enrolling in a Soulful Lifestyle for Youth Ministry (Millennium Hotel, Grand Ballroom A) Thursday 3:30 PM Jeanne Stevens We all know that youth ministry can be hard. Sadly, many youth workers walk away from their jobs, their callings and their passion because their interior worlds are falling apart. Thats why Soul School is essential for developing an effective and healthy you(th) ministry. Because while your ministry might look healthy to outsiders, only you know that something is lacking. Its easy to get so busy caring for the external parts of your ministry that you forget the most important partyour soul.

Restoration Revolution is a 10-year collaboration that desires to share Jesus with all peoples in four primary areas: We seek to encourage all churches to pursue the ALMIGHTY in prayer. We desire to launch CHURCH-planting movements around the block and around the world. We need to create and distribute TOOLS (resources) - that help fulfill our desire to bring all people to Christ. Through SERVANTS we need to identify, equip and deploy new leaders. Through prayer, new churches and tools we will need more preachers, missionaries and Kingdom workers.

Revolutions seldom begin on your knees, but the transforming revolution that is most needed in this world--on fire churches, people regularly coming to Christ, and the completion of the Great Commission has to start with prayer. --Revolution on Our Knees: 30 Days of Prayer for Neighbors and Nations

Light the Fire: 24-7-520

It IS Christ-centered, mission-minded prayer resonating in the heart of communities all over the world. It IS an unending season of day-and-night prayer from 7 pm December 31, 2010 through 7 pm December 31, 2020. Churches, campuses and missions organizations are each committing to pray toward the kingdom purposes of Almighty God, specifically finishing the task of world evangelization, for one or more weeks during this 10-year period. A torch of prayer will be passed from location to location either physically or virtually as we unite in seeking the face of God. Light the Fire is NOT intended to be a program or an event, but an ongoing lifestyle of prayer for the glory of God that transforms people, churches, college campuses and organizations all over the world as they intercede for lost and/or unreached neighbors and nations.
