 IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES
The application set consists of Admission
Application form, Annexure sheets, coding sheet
for Professional courses (B.Tech, B.Pharm and
Biology based courses) and Information Bulletin
2011-12
Applications SHOULD NOT be interchanged
among the candidates.
Before filling the Application Form, Annexure
Sheets and Coding Sheet, read the Information
Bulletin carefully.
Candidates applying for Professional courses
should send the application along with the attested
copies of the necessary certificates.
The last date for the receipt of filled in
Application at CENTAC Office is 22/06/2011,
5.00 P.M.
In case of delay in the declaration of qualifying
examination results i.e. after 22/06/2011, by any
H.Sc. Board, the candidates from that Board
should not wait for the results, but submit the
admission applications at CENTAC office on or
before the last date (i.e. 22/06/2011).
However, such candidates shall submit the
attested copies of the mark sheet (write the
application number on the right side top of the
certificate copy) of the qualifying examination so
as to reach the CENTAC office within 7 days
from the date of declaration of H.Sc. results or
30/06/2011, 5.00 P.M whichever is earlier.
Applications submitted/received after the
prescribed last date and time will summarily be
rejected.
Shading of OVALS/CIRCLES/BRACKETS in the
coding sheets should be done carefully with HB
pencils and boxes to be filled with ball point pen.
The shaded information in the coding sheets will
be scanned. Any unclear shading and mistakes in
shading will affect the selection of the candidate.
Do not punch or staple the coding
sheet/Annexure Sheet(S).
Do not fold, smudge or scribble on the coding
sheet /Annexure sheets.
Application and all its enclosures can be stapled or
tagged together, but the Annexure Sheets and
coding sheet should not be stapled but should be
kept loosely and separately and sent along with the
application.
Candidates applying for all the three courses are to
submit all the three annexure sheets namely
Biology, Engineering and Pharmacy otherwise
submit their respective annexure sheets (course to
which applying) alone.
Candidates claiming seats under sports quota are
instructed to fill up the Proforma (can be
downloaded from CENTAC website/can be
obtained from CENTAC office) and send along
with the application with supporting documents.
All the certificates (to be submitted by the
candidates along with the filled in admission
application) should be done only in the formats
provided in Bulletin or the format issued by the
respective authorities. Candidates claiming seats
under regional allocation may either use these
formats directly or take photocopies provided in
this Bulletin.
Options once exercised with regard to course/
community/regional/ special allocation will not be
changed under any circumstances.
Candidates can also apply through online. See the
website http://www.centacprof.net.in for details.
Applications submitted through online shall be
considered only after receiving the online printout
with necessary attested copies of certificates along
with application fee (Passport Size Photograph to
be pasted on the space provided with due
attestation).
Online printout application should be sent by post
or can be submitted in person to “The Convenor,”

application fee in the form of a crossed Demand
Draft drawn in favour of the Convenor, CENTAC

2.3 IMPROVEMENT MARKS
Candidates may also seek admission with marks
scored in the 'Improvement Examination' provided; it
is the 'first Improvement Examination'. (First
improvement refers to the improvement examination
taken for the first time after passing the respective
qualifying examination). For these candidates only the
improvement marks alone is taken. Improvement
marks secured by the candidate in the subsequent
improvement examination will not be considered. The
above candidates should enclose attested copies of
both sides of the mark statement of all improvement
examinations.
2.4 NATIONALITY
A Candidate seeking admission through CENTAC
should be an Indian National. However, French
Nationals residing in the UT of Puducherry and
covered by the terms of the Treaty of Cession shall be
treated on par with Indian Nationals, for the purpose
of admission to the various courses.
2.5 AGE LIMIT
Upper Age will be reckoned as on 1st July 2011 for
B.Tech and B.P.T., Degree Course and Lower age
limit will be reckoned as on 31st Dec. 2011 for
M.B.B.S., B.A.M.S., B.D.S., B.V.Sc. & A.H., B.Sc.
(Nursing), and B.P.T. Degree Courses.

2.6 DOMICILE CRITERIA FOR UT OF
PUDUCHERRY
Candidates belonging to the UT of Puducherry are
eligible for admission to all the degree courses. A
candidate is considered to belong to the UT of
Puducherry, if he / she satisfy at least one of the
following domicile criteria (Refer Annexure –III for
the Format of Certificates):
a) Those candidates or whose parents have been
residing continuously in the UT of Puducherry for
at least 5 years immediately before the date of
application.
b) Those who have passed SSLC / HSC or any other
public examination and for that purpose had
undergone academic studies continuously for 5
successive classes immediately preceding the
qualification examination (including the year of
the qualifying examination) in recognized
education institutions (s) located in the
Pondicherry Union Territory and having their
residence in the Pondicherry Union Territory for 5
years continuously during that period.
c) Children of Central Government Servants /
Defence Personnel / Central Paramilitary Forces /
Employees of Public Sector Undertakings wholly
or substantially run either by the Central
Government or by the UT of Puducherry
Government, posted and serving in the UT of
Puducherry for at least a minimum period of one
year prior to the stipulated last date of submission
of application.
d) Children of Natives of UT of Puducherry who
have declared any place in the UT of Puducherry
as their home town and so certified by their
respective Heads of Office.
Note: Nativity Certificate in the prescribed
format has to be enclosed along with the
admission application.
e) Children of Defence Personnel who were killed or
disabled in action and children of Central
Government Servants/UT of Puducherry
Government Servants/Defence Personnel,
Employees of Public Sector undertakings as
referred in category (c) who have died while in
service in the UT of Puducherry.
f) French Nationals residing in the UT of Puducherry
and covered by the terms of the ‘Treaty of
 Cession’ shall be treated on par with the
candidates who produce the prescribed residence
certificate for the UT of Puducherry. However,
such French Nationals will not be required to
produce residence certificate. Instead they should
produce ‘certificate of registration’ issued for this
purpose from the French Consulate, Puducherry.
Note: Children of these French Nationals shall not
be considered for admission under the quota of non-
residents.
2.7 OTHER STATE/UT CANDIDATES
Candidates from other States / UTs can seek admission
only to B.Tech. degree course offered by Pondicherry
Engineering College, Pondicherry, Perunthalaivar
Kamarajar Institute of Engineering and Technology,
Karaikal, and B.P.T., B.Pharm, B.Sc.(Nursing), &
B.Sc.(MLT) degree courses offered by Mother Teresa
Post Graduate and Research Institute of Health
Sciences, (MTPG & RIHS), Puducherry.
Candidates from other States / UTs, who have passed
H.Sc. (Academic) examination or equivalent thereto,
are only eligible for admission to B.Tech degree
course. Candidates from other States/ UTs seeking
admission to B.Tech Degree course offered by
Pondicherry Engineering College, Pondicherry, &
Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Institute of Engineering and
Technology, Karaikal, shall apply only with AIEEE-
2011 marks. They shall submit the admission
application for B.Tech course with AIEEE marks on or
before 22.06.2011, 5.00 p.m.
However, candidates from Other States / UTs who
have passed H.Sc. (Academic) or its equivalent are
eligible for admission to all the degree courses offered
by MTPG & RIHS, Puducherry satisfying the
minimum eligibility criteria.
Other States/UT candidates like to join in
M.B.B.S/B.D.S./B.V.Sc &A.H. course under All India
quota may refer the conditions given in the respective
college website in Annexure I. Other States/UT
candidates are not eligible for admission to B.A.M.S.
Further they are also not eligible for the admission to
Biology based courses / B.Tech degree
courses/Pharmacy courses offered by self financing
Colleges through CENTAC.
3.0 APPLICATION FORMS
The application forms for admission along with the
Information Bulletin can be obtained from 25/05/2011
to 22/06/2011 in person from Pondicherry
Engineering College Co-operative Credit Society
(Office located in the Administrative Block, PEC)
on all working days on payment of Rs.550/-(Rs.275/-
for SC/ST candidates) and from the following Post
Offices .

Other state candidates appeared for AIEEE are alone
eligible to apply for B.Tech courses.
Application forms can also be obtained by post by
sending a request to 'The Convenor' CENTAC,
Pondicherry Engineering College Campus,
Puducherry- 605 014, along with two self-addressed
slips (neatly typed or hand written) and a crossed
demand draft drawn in favour of The Convenor,
CENTAC, payable at Puducherry, for Rs.565/- [for SC
/ ST Candidates Rs.315/-]. The last date for receipt of
request for issue of application through post is
14.06.2011.
Note: Payment by cheques, postal orders and money
orders will not be accepted.

4.0 APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR
ADMISSION
Candidates seeking admission for Professional courses
may apply either through application form or by online
submission (http://www.centacprof.net.in).
Applications should not be interchanged among
the candidates or categories. Application forms
meant for SC/ST candidates must be used only
by those candidates. If other category candidates
use those applications, their application will be
rejected.
All photographs used for identification purpose shall
be the prints from the same negative until the
admission of the candidate is over. It is advised that
sufficient number of copies of the photographs may
be kept in reserve to meet any situation like the one
described above that may arise any time in future.
Passport size photograph to be pasted with due
attestation on the application form / online
application print out.

CENTAC will not be responsible for postal or
any other delay.
Applications received after the due date and time
will summarily be rejected and no further
correspondence will be entertained in this
regard.
Original certificates should not be enclosed along
with the application form. Only attested copies of
the certificates (Write the application number on the
right side top of all the certificates) need to be
enclosed with the application form. At the time of
the counseling all the original certificates need to be
produced for verification.
Applications which are incomplete, defective
will be summarily rejected and no correspondence
shall be entertained in this regard.

SC/BT/EBC/MBC/BCM/OBC candidates are eligible for selection under Open competition/General category in
addition to the reservations made to them.

5.1.5 Physically Handicapped Category (PH)

Competent Authority, which will be screened by a
Medical Board, constituted thereof.
5.1.6 Wards of Ex-Servicemen (EX)
Ex-Servicemen: Those who are registered as Ex-
servicemen in the Department of Sainik Welfare
(DSW), Govt. of Puducherry and have got Ex-
servicemen/Widow of Ex-servicemen identity card
from the DSW should enclose the necessary certificate
issued by the Director, DSW, Puducherry.

5.1.7 Meritorious Sports Person Category (SP)
Candidates claiming admission under sports
category should have excellent caliber in sports and
games and those who have shown consistency in sports
activities.
The Purpose of this quota is to recognize and give
weightage to the sports merit of the candidates and
hence marks for sports achievements alone will be
considered in ranking the candidates under this quota.
The candidates are expected to continue good
performance in sports events after selection.
The highest achievement of the candidate in only one
annual tournament under the listed sports disciplines in
a year will be considered for awarding marks.
Selection of candidates will be based on the marks
obtained by the candidate following the guidelines
given in the Government of Puducherry G.O.

General Conditions:
1. For Consideration of candidates seeking admission
under the category of Sports Person he / she should fill
up and enclose the proforma (can be downloaded from
CENTAC website www.centacprof.net.in / can be
obtained from CENTAC office) , attested photo copies
of participation certificates and the certificates in the
prescribed forms issued by the relevant sports
authorities along with the application.
2. Participation / Achievements from 1-6-2007 to 31-5-
2011 in sports / games shown in the list alone will be
taken into account, National / State Level
Championships / Tournaments conducted by
Organisations / Federations recognised by Indian
Olympic Association / Ministry of Youth Affairs and
Sports, New Delhi alone will be considered for award
of marks (Recognition by the Indian Olympic
Association / Ministry of Youth and Sports, New Delhi
should be relevant to the years concerned).
3. The relevant attested copies of the certificates issued
by the appropriate authorities as detailed in the G.O.
Ms No.98 dt 12/09/2009 are to be submitted along
with the application. Open / Invitational Tournaments
of any kind will not be considered.
4. The participation / achievements of candidates with
nativity of Puducherry Union Territory and who
represented Union territory of Puducherry alone are
eligible for marks under National Category.
5. Only Union territory of Puducherry candidates are
eligible to apply for admission under Sports Quota and
only the KVS / NVS / CBSE Schools within UT of
Puducherry are eligible for marks.
6. All the achievement certificates are to be supported
necessarily by the relevant participation Certificates
and appropriate Form / Certificates.
7. If any candidate fails to produce the requisite
original certificates /forms, his / her place will be
allotted to the candidate next in rank and so on. The
consequential vacancy at the end of the rank list will
be filled up from among the additional candidates
according to their ranks. No further enclosures or
certificates will be entertained after the last date for
submission of completed application.
8. A Committee will be constituted to scrutinize the
applications received under this category and will rank
the candidates based on the marks assigned to the
certificate enclosed along with the application and the
sports merit list will be published in the CENTAC
notice board and website well before the counseling
for the sport category seats. The final authority to
settle all disputes in the matter of selection under
Sports Quota will be CENTAC.
5.1.8 Special Regional Allocation for
Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam
Candidates claiming admission under this category
should be residents of the respective region, for a
continuous period of 5 years on the date of application.
To claim admission under special allocation from
Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam regions, candidates should
have studied in the recognized schools located in the
respective regions continuously for three (3) years,
immediately preceding the qualifying examination
(including the year of the qualifying examination).
Mere stay in places such as residential hostel would
not amount to residence. They should produce
residence certificate from the competent authority not
below the rank of Deputy Tahsildar.
These candidates should enclose the necessary
certificate in the prescribed format only
(Annexure-III).
This certificate should be obtained from The Head of
the Institution in which they studied, and
countersigned by the respective Chief Educational
Officers of Karaikal and Mahe Regions, and the
Regional Administrator of Yanam Region. They
should also enclose residence certificate issued by an
Officer of the Department of Revenue and Disaster
Management, not below the rank of Deputy Tahsildar
of the respective regions, clearly indicating the
addresses of residence.
NOTE:
i) Residence/Regional/Special Allocation once
claimed in the application will not be changed
under any circumstances.
ii) All the claims for the residence/ regional /
special allocation should be made in the proper
format and should be signed by the competent
authorities specified.
5.2 UT of Puducherry Candidates in Self -
financing Colleges
The reservation as per the policy of Government of
Puducherry will be adopted for admission to the
Government quota seats in minority and non-minority
self-financing professional colleges.
5.2.1 UT of Puducherry candidates in self-
financing Engineering colleges
The reservation of allotment of seats to Puducherry UT
candidates in Self-financing Engineering Colleges is as
per the merit list prepared by CENTAC by adopting
the normalization procedure. In this connection, the
order issued by the Education Secretariat will be kept
as guidance.
5.2.2 UT of Puducherry candidates in self-
financing Medical/Dental/Paramedical
Colleges for M.B.B.S., B.D.S., B.P.T., B.Sc.
(Nursing) and B.Sc (MLT) courses:
The reservation of allotment of seats to Puducherry UT
candidates in Self-financing
Medical/Dental/Paramedical Colleges for M.B.B.S.,
B.D.S., B.P.T., B.Sc. (Nursing) and B.Sc (MLT)
courses are as per the merit list prepared by CENTAC
by adopting the normalization procedure. In this
connection, the order issued by the Health Secretariat
will be kept as guidance.
5.3 Other State/UT Candidates applying for
B.Tech degree courses in Pondicherry
Engineering College & Perunthalalivar
Kamarajar Institute of Engineering &
Technology (PKIET),Karaikal
Out of the sanctioned intake of 450 seats in
Pondicherry Engineering College(PEC),15% of seats
i.e. 68 seats will be allotted to candidates from the
other States/UTs, including 5 seats reserved for
Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD,
GOI) for the beneficiary States/UTs. Out of the above
63 seats earmarked for the candidates from the other
states/ UTs, 15% and 7.5% are reserved for SC and ST
candidates respectively. These candidates should
enclose the necessary certificates issued by the
competent authority of the respective State/UTs.
Out of the sanctioned intake of 180 seats in
Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Institute of Engineering and
Technology (PKIET), Karaikal, 15% of seats, i.e. 27
seats will be allotted to candidates from the other
states/UTs. Out of the above 27 seats
earmarked for the Candidates from the other states/
UTs, 15% and 7.5% are reserved for SC and ST
candidates, respectively. These candidates should
enclose the necessary certificates issued by the
competent authority of the respective State/UTs.
5.4 Other States / UTs Candidates applying for
admission to the degree courses in Mother
Teresa Post Graduate and Research Institute
of Health Sciences, Puducherry.
In all the degree courses offered by Mother Theresa
Post Graduate and Research Institute of Health
Sciences [B.P.T., B.Pharm., B.Sc. (Nursing), and
B.Sc.(MLT)], 15% of the sanctioned intake seats in
each degree course, will be allotted to the candidates
from Other States / UTs. Of the above seats earmarked
for the candidates from Other States / UTs, 15% and
7.5% are reserved for SC and ST candidates,
respectively. These candidates should enclose the
necessary certificate issued by the competent authority
of the respective States / UTs.
In each of the above courses one seat is reserved to
Lakshadweep UT candidates from the quota of general
candidates of other states/UTs in Mother Teresa Post
Graduate and Research Institute of Health Sciences
from the academic year 2010-2011 as per the order of
Government of Puducherry (G.O.Ms.No.68
dt16.09.2010). All such candidates will have to contact
the “DEAN” of the above Institution, for all details, in
this regard and also visit website

5.5 NRI Candidates applying for Biology based
courses
5.5.1 NRI/NRI Sponsored /Foreign candidates
in Indira Gandhi Medical College & Research
Institute
Out of the sanctioned intake of 150 seats, 22 seats are
earmarked for NRI/ NRI Sponsored/Foreign
Candidates. These candidates shall contact the
Director/visit the website www.pkmc.edu.in for further
details. If any seat(s) is / are vacant in the NRI the
same will be surrendered to the State Quota which will
be filled by CENTAC, Govt. of Puducherry.
5.5.2 NRI/NRI Sponsored/Foreign candidates
in Rajiv Gandhi Ayurveda Medical College
Out of the sanctioned intake of 50 seats, 7 seats are
earmarked for NRI/ NRI Sponsored/Foreign
Candidates and one more seat for Malayasian
candidate to be nominated by the Ministry of Health
and Family Welfare Services, Government of India.
These candidates shall contact the Principal/visit the
website www.pkmc.edu.in for further details. If any
seat(s) is / are vacant in the NRI the same will be
surrendered to the State Quota which will be filled by
CENTAC, Govt. of Puducherry.
5.5.3 NRI/NRI Sponsored/Foreign candidates
in Mahatma Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of
Dental Sciences, Puducherry
Out of the sanctioned intake of 40 seats, 5 seats have
been allotted to NRI/ NRI Sponsored/Foreign
Candidates. In the event of any vacancies arising out of
seats allotted for NRI/NRI Sponsored/Foreign
students, they will be surrendered to the State Quota
which will be filled by CENTAC, Govt. of
Puducherry. The candidates shall contact the

5.5.4 NRI/NRI Sponsored/Foreign candidates
in Rajiv Gandhi College of Veterinary & Animal
Sciences, Puducherry
Out of the sanctioned intake of 60 seats, 9 seats are
reserved for NRI sponsored/Foreign candidates. These
candidates shall contact the Dean/visit the website
http:// www.ragacovas.com for further details.

6.0 SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR
ADMISSION
6.1. Ranking of Candidates
Selection of Candidates for admission to all the
Degree courses will be based on the Merit lists
prepared by CENTAC, based on the marks arrived at
by adopting the 'method of normalization', as
detailed in para 6.2 below. Ranking of the candidates
will be done based on the 'normalized marks'
(rounded-off to three decimal places) arrived at, to a
base of 200.
6.1.1 All Biology-based Degree courses
For all Biology-based Degree courses, i.e. for
M.B.B.S./ B.A.M.S / B.D.S./ B.V.Sc & A.H./ B.P.T.,/
B.Sc.(Nursing) / B.Sc. (MLT), admission is based on
the marks secured by the candidates in the prescribed
subjects in the qualifying examination (i.e. Biology /
Botany & Zoology, Physics and Chemistry, including
practical’s), and 'normalizing' them by the prescribed
procedure.
Equal weightage will be given to all the above three
prescribed subjects. In case a candidate has appeared
in more than one of the prescribed optional subjects,
the subject in which the candidate has obtained the
highest marks will be taken into consideration for
'normalization' and for calculating the actual total
marks, in the prescribed subjects.
Wherever separate marks for practical’s are awarded,
the same will be considered along with the respective
subjects, for arriving at the total actual marks and
hence the 'normalized marks'.
B.Sc (MLT) Course: H.Sc. Vocational Stream *
(Subject to the approval of Pondicherry University)
Admission is based on the marks secured by the
candidates in the prescribed subjects in the qualifying
examination
i.e. for H.Sc. Vocational: Physics, Foundation Science
and Medical Laboratory Assistant Course (including
practicals) and ‘normalizing them by the prescribed
procedure. Equal weightage will be given to all the
above three prescribed subjects. In case a candidate
has appeared in more than one of the prescribed
optional subjects, the subject in which the candidate
has obtained the highest mark will be taken into
consideration for ‘normalization’ and for calculating
the actual total marks, in the prescribed subjects.
Wherever separate marks for practicals are awarded,
the same will be considered along with the respective
subjects, for arriving at the total actual marks and
hence the ‘normalized marks’.
6.1.2 B.Tech. Degree Course
Admission is based on the marks secured by the
candidates in the prescribed subjects of the qualifying
examination [i.e. for H.Sc. Academic: Mathematics,
Physics and any one of the optional subjects
(Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science /
Biology / Botany & Zoology) & for H.Sc. Vocational:
Vocational Subject Theory, Vocational Subject
Practical and a related Subject] and 'normalizing' them
by the prescribed procedure. Equal weightage will be
given to all the three prescribed subjects. Incase a
candidate has appeared in more than any one of the
above prescribed optional subjects, the subject in
which the candidate has obtained the highest marks
will be taken into consideration for ‘Normalization”
and for calculating the actual total marks in the
prescribed subjects. Wherever separate marks for
practical’s are awarded, the same will be considered
along with the respective subjects, for arriving at the
total actual marks and hence the 'normalized marks'.
6.1.3 Other States/UTs Candidates Applying
for Admission to B.Tech Degree course
Candidates applying against other States / UTs' quota
of seats, admission to B.Tech Degree course will be
based only on the actual merit marks secured by them
in “AIEEE” -2011 (All India Engineering Entrance
Examination), and a separate merit list prepared for
them. For such Candidates, the 'normalization
procedure' is not applicable. However, if a Candidate
has secured 'cumulative negative marks' in “AIEEE-
2011”, then such a candidate is 'not eligible' for
admission to B.Tech Degree courses coming under the
purview of CENTAC.
6.1.4 B.Pharm. Degree Course
Admission is based on the marks secured by the
candidates in the prescribed subjects in the qualifying
examination
i.e. for H.Sc. Academic: Physics, Chemistry and one
of the following optional subjects (Mathematics / Bio-
Technology / Computer Science / Biology / Botany &
Zoology) in which the candidate has scored the
highest marks (including practicals) and 'normalizing'
them by the prescribed procedure.
Equal weightage will be given to all the above three
prescribed subjects. In case a candidate has appeared
in more than one of the prescribed optional subjects,
the subject in which the candidate has obtained the
highest mark will be taken into consideration for
'normalization' and for calculating the actual total
marks, in the prescribed subjects. Wherever separate
marks for practicals are awarded, the same will be
considered along with the respective subjects, for
arriving at the total actual marks and hence the
'normalized marks'.

6.1.5 Other States/UTs candidates Applying
for Admission to B.P.T., B.Pharm., B.Sc.
(Nursing) and B.Sc. (MLT) courses offered by
MTPG&RIHS, Pondicherry
Admission for candidates belonging to Other States
/UTs for the above Degree courses will be based on the
'inter-se merit list' drawn based on the 'normalized
marks' of the prescribed subjects, for the respective
courses.
6.2 Normalization Procedure
In order to evolve a common base for comparing the
marks obtained by the candidates from various Boards
of Examinations (Refer Annexure - II),
'normalization procedure' as outlined below will be
followed.
(i) The marks obtained by the students in the
relevant subjects in the qualifying examination
conducted by the various Boards or Authority, shall
be equated with the marks obtained by the students
in the same subjects in the qualifying examination,
conducted by the State Board (i.e. State Board of
School Examinations, Tamil Nadu), by adopting the
method of normalization.
Explanation: Under the method of normalization,
the highest mark obtained by the students of various
Boards in each subject, shall be equated to the
highest mark obtained by the students of the State
Board in that subject, and the relative marks of other
students in that subject, shall be determined
accordingly.
respective subjects, from among the various Boards
under which the above candidates have actually
studied and applied for a particular course, will only be
considered.
Illustration: For B.Pharm course, if candidates
from Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and
Maharashtra alone have applied against “All India
quota”, then, the above Boards and their maximum
marks only will be considered, for the purpose of
'normalization' of marks.
(v) The Director, School Education, Government of
Puducherry, will be the designated authority, to furnish
the 'maximum marks' in each of the 'prescribed
subjects' for the various courses, of the various Boards
of Examinations, and furnish it to CENTAC. For the
'normalization Procedure' only the above officially
furnished data will be used and will form the basis for
preparing the 'common merit list' for the various
courses, coming under the purview of CENTAC.
6.3 Procedure for Breaking the “Tie” in the
Merit Marks
When more than one candidate have got the same
marks in the common merit list (i.e. the merit list
prepared after merging the normalized marks of
candidates from various Boards), the 'inter-se merit'
among such candidates, for each course will be
determined “in the order of priority” as specified in
Table I.

Illustration: If the highest marks secured by a

student of the State Board, in Physics is 100 and the
highest mark secured by a student of any other
Board (say 'X'), in the same subject is 90, then, both
the highest marks will be considered to be equal to
100. If any other student of the other Board (i.e.
“X”) secures 60 marks in Physics, when the first
mark in Physics in the same Board (i.e. “X”) is 90,
then 60 marks secured by such a student will be
considered to be equal to 66.667 marks as arrived at
and given below:
(100 x 60)/90 = 66.667%

(ii) After normalization of marks of the eligible

students of different Boards, in the relevant subjects,
the 'normalized marks' obtained shall be merged into a
'common merit list'.

(iii) In cases, where more than one student have got

the same marks in the 'common merit list', the 'inter-se
merit' among such students shall be determined in the
manner prescribed as in para 6.3 below.

(iv) For the purpose of normalization of marks of

candidates from 'Other States', except for the B.Tech
course, for all other such courses, wherever such quota
is available, maximum marks obtained in the
The above procedure for breaking the tie of B.Tech
will also applicable to candidates applying with
AIEEE score.
6.4 Admission to Professional Colleges in
other states Against Seats Reserved for the
Candidates from U.T. of Puducherry
Admission of candidates belonging to Union Territory
of Puducherry to professional colleges (Engineering,
Architecture, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy etc.) in
'Other States', against the seats reserved for Candidates
from U.T. of Puducherry will be coordinated by
CENTAC. However, they shall not be required to
submit any separate admission application for this
purpose and hence the application/(s) normally
submitted to CENTAC for admission to B.Tech. /
Biology-based courses, will be 'treated as valid' for this
admission also. The Directorate of Higher & Technical
Education (DHTE), Government of Puducherry, and
other concerned Authorities, will be furnishing the
exact details of seats reserved in different Colleges/
Courses/ States to CENTAC, well before the
commencement of the 'first schedule of
Counseling to Professional courses (for 2011-12 which
will be made available to all the candidates at the time
of counselling.
6.5 Admission Procedure for Non-Resident
Candidates (i.e. NRI/ NRI Sponsored/ Foreign
Nationals) to M.B.B.S., B.A.M.S., B.D.S., and
B.V.Sc. & A.H. Degree courses
Admission of the above candidates to M.B.B.S.,
B.A.M.S., B.D.S., and B.V.Sc & A.H. will be based
on the norms/ procedure prescribed by the respective
institutions offering the above courses (i.e. IGMCRI &
RGAMC, MGPGIDS & RAGACOVAS), respectively.
All such candidates will have to contact the
“DIRECTOR/DEAN/PRINCIPAL” of the above
Institutions, for all details, in this regard.
6.6 Admission Procedure for B.Sc. (Agri.) and
Law Courses:
Counselling and admission to B.Sc. (Agri.) and Law
courses will be conducted separately at Pandit
Jawaharlal Nehru college of Agriculture & Research
Institute (PAJANCOA&RI), Karaikal and Dr. B.R.
Ambedkar Govt. Law College respectively and it will
not be conducted by CENTAC at Puducherry. For
admission details candidate shall directly contact the
dean/principal visit website www.pajancoa.ac.in and
aglc1972@gmail.com, Ph: 0413-2656550,
2656570 for Agriculture/Law Courses
respectively.
6.7 Display of Merit List
The Merit Lists (separate for B.Tech, B.Pharm, and all
other Biology-based Degree Courses) will be displayed
on the notice board of the Office of CENTAC, located
at Pondicherry Engineering College (PEC) campus,
Puducherry and the same will also be made available
in the official website www.centacprof.net.in.
No separate announcement will be made in the
newspapers, under any circumstances.
7.0 COUNSELLING FOR ADMISSION
7.1 Venue
Counselling for all the above degree courses will be
conducted at the Office of the CENTAC, Chemical
Engineering Block, Pondicherry Engineering College
(PE C ), Pillaichavady, Puducherry - 605 014 .
7.2 Date and Time
Candidates will be called for counselling as per their
order of merit in each course. Candidates to be called
for counselling will be intimated through call letters or
a public notification in local newspapers and in the
official web site of CENTAC. No change of date / time
of counselling are permissible. CENTAC will not be
responsible for postal delay, if any and non-delivery of
counselling/intimation letters whatever may be the
reason (s) thereto.
7.2.1 Important Particulars pertaining to
Counselling
Candidates, who do not attend the counselling on the
specified date and time, have to forego their claim for
admission. However, due to unforeseen circumstances
and unavoidable reasons, if a candidate is unable to
attend the counselling on the specified date and time,
he / she can attend on a subsequent date and time
during the counselling period for the course, with prior
permission of “The Convenor, CENTAC”. But, the
candidate can only opt for the seat available at that
time and cannot claim any seat as per his / her original
rank for the course. In any case, counselling will not be
done in the absence of candidates.
If the improvement marks are submitted by the
candidate after the commencement of counselling, the
actual seats available at the time of counselling will be
made available to such candidates. However due
weightage will be given to the improvement marks.
Unfilled seats and vacancies, arising out of the
dropouts of already admitted candidates or due to the
introduction of new courses or inclusion of new
institutions, will be filled - up during the subsequent
counseling’s. Details of such vacancies will be notified
in newspapers and will also be made available in the
official web site of CENTAC and such information
will also be updated periodically.
Individual intimation will not be sent to candidates
for Counselling of seats arising due to vacancies for
the reasons mentioned above.
These vacancies “shall be open” to all candidates
applied for admission through CENTAC, including the
candidates already admitted during earlier counselling.
In the Final Counselling the unfilled seats of different
/reserved categories are filled under general category
region wise and at the end all the vacant seats are filled
under the General Category of UT of Puducherry.
Important Note: Candidates admitted into any
college/course during their subsequent counselling,
shall join that college/course on or before the last date
prescribed by the respective colleges. Failure to do so
will make them liable to forfeit both the newly allotted
seats and the seats in which they had been admitted
during the earlier counseling. CENTAC will not be
responsible or liable for such lapses, on the part of
candidates.
No communication shall be sent to candidates who are
not eligible to be called for counselling and no further
correspondence in this regard will also be entertained.
Due to unforeseen and unavoidable reasons if a
candidate is unable to attend the counselling on the
specified date and time, he/she can authorize his/her
parent/guardian on his/her behalf with suitable
evidence and the parent’s/Guardian’s decision will be
binding on the candidate.
Eligible candidates who have applied may appear
for counselling according to their cut-off mark, two
hours before the counselling session along with
their original certificates for verification
irrespective of receipt of individual communication.
7.3 Verification of Original Certificates
Candidates called for counselling shall be required to
submit all the documents in original for verification at
the time of counselling. Candidates, who fail to
produce the required documents in original, shall not
be counseled. However, if a candidate has deposited
all or the required original certificates, with an
institution where he / she has already been admitted, a
letter to that effect issued by the Head of that
Institution should be produced. Only in that case,
attested / true copy of the relevant certificates will be
accepted for verification and counselling of candidates.
The original documents submitted by the candidates to
be admitted, shall be returned only after obtaining
recognition from the respective Universities and hence
the candidates are advised to take enough number of
photocopies of the documents, before submitting the
originals for verification during counselling and
subsequently for admission to the courses.
7.4 Counselling Fee
A non-refundable counselling fee of Rs.600/-(Rs.200/-
for SC/ST candidates) will be collected from each
candidate 'getting admission for the first time', to any
of the Degree courses coming under CENTAC.During
every subsequent/supplementary counselling, the
candidate will be required to pay an 'additional
counselling fee' of Rs.400/- (Rs.150/- for SC/ST
candidates) if, he/she 'takes admission in any other
college/degree course/branch of study'.
The counselling fee should be in the form of 'Demand
Draft' drawn in favour of “The Convenor, CENTAC”,
payable at Puducherry. Payment by cheques, postal
orders, money orders and Cash will not be accepted.
No candidate will be allowed to attend the
counseling without the prescribed counselling fee.
8.0 ADMISSION
Admission to all courses is based on the merit,
category of the candidates, and the availability of seats
at the time of counselling. All admissions made by
CENTAC are “provisional” and are subject to approval
by the respective Universities. Candidates who have
been offered admission to a particular College should
report to that College on or before the due date
mentioned by CENTAC, in the 'provisional admission
order', failing which, they will forfeit the right of
admission. At any time, if the CENTAC / College
authorities find that admission has been offered based
on false/ incorrect information/ documents and
suppression of relevant facts, education qualification
or quota, the admission offered or the admission
already completed shall be cancelled, irrespective of
the stage of study of that course. Further, legal
proceedings will also be initiated against such
candidates for such action /(s). Hence, Candidates are
warned against indulging in such action/ (s), in their
own interest. All parents are also requested to make
note of the above provision, and take due care and
diligence, in all matters concerning admission to the
various professional courses.
General Instructions:
1. The application form consists of Admission
application form/ Three Annexure Sheets and a Coding
Sheet. All the items in these parts are to be filled
properly. Refer the sample set enclosed in the
Information bulletin.
2. Use only BALL PEN to fill the application form
and annexure sheets and boxes in the coding sheet. For
many items you have to furnish the required
information by encircling the number applicable to
you.
3. First fill the application form and then transfer the
entries from the Application to Annexure Sheet
(S)/Coding Sheet.
4 All the Columns on all the sides of the coding sheet
must be filled without fail. The small open
boxes/ovals/brackets corresponding to entries have to
be carefully and completely shaded using by a HB
Pencil.
5. Enter your application number in all the enclosures.
6. Admission given in the counselling are only
provisional .Confirmation of Admission is subject to
verification of marks/certificates. If any information is
found to be false and Marks/certificates are found to be
bogus, admission is liable for cancellation and legal

Examination Fees: Examination Fee, Mark statement fee, etc. shall be paid as prescribed by the
Pondicherry University for each Semester.

Bus Fees: Bus facility is available @ Rs. 100/- per month.

Hostel: The B.Sc. (Nursing) students would be required to stay in hostel as per requirements of the Training,
as and when provided by the Institute. They are also liable to compulsorily undergo clinical postings
including night duties in the Hospitals. The students of other courses would also be required to stay in Hostel
as per requirements of the Training Programmes.

Postings in specialized areas: Expenditure related to educational tours and special posting in specialised

Candidates seeking admission to the above seats should submit admission

application prescribed by CENTAC for respective courses (supplied along with

If the admission to any of these courses requires appearance in any other

paper(s) of entrance examination/(s), then, it is the responsibility of the
candidate opting for such seats, to satisfy such requirements.

The allotment of candidates for the above seats will be made by CENTAC
during the counseling process based on the merit list prepared by CENTAC.

available to the candidates at the time of counseling.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Subsequent to the publication of admission notification for the academic year 2011-2012, if any new
