Stop Taxing Real Estate in Georgia

When the Colonies were populated by British subjects we paid Quit Rent to the appointed governor,
who in turn returned monies to the king. Today we continue the practice of paying local
governments for the privilege of property ownership. They, in turn, redistribute monies to any and
every vote-buying scheme to enhance their own position. No difference even after 235 years.

If a politician found he had cannibals among his constituents, he would promise them missionaries for dinner.

Netanyahu to Obama: No return to 1967 lines

Netanyahu "schooled" the little fella in the White House meeting Friday afternoon as he told
Obie in no uncertain terms, they will not go back to old borders.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday firmly rejected President Barack Obama's call for an approximate
return to the borders that existed before the 1967 Middle East war, telling the U.S. leader that such a move is
impossible in light of current security concerns and demographic realities.

The two leaders pledged to work together, however, in the pursuit of a comprehensive Israeli-Palestinian peace
agreement.

"Israel wants peace. I want peace," Netanyahu said while meeting with Obama at the White House. But "a peace based
on illusions will crash eventually on the rocks of Middle Eastern reality," he said.

Both men stressed that the presence of the militant group Hamas in a Palestinian government would be extremely
problematic for future peace talks. The United States and Israel consider Hamas a terrorist group.

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas "hasto decide if he negotiates or keeps his pact with Hamas, or makes peace with
Israel," Netanyahu said. "I hope he makes the choice -- the right choice -- in choosing peace with Israel."

Henry Commission Adopts Revised Code of Ethics

http://www.co.henry.ga.us/newsArticle.aspx?AID=830

Over recent years, the Henry County Board of Commissioners has made great strides toward a more open and
accessible government for citizens, and has done much to promote more involvement and greater confidence in local
government actions and conduct. The Board took another step in that direction Tuesday, when it adopted a new ethics
ordinance.

“I don’t want any citizen to think this board has been operating in the absence of any type of ethics governance up
until this point,” explained Commission Chairman Elizabeth ‘B.J.’ Mathis. “The Commission has operated under state
laws. We also have a code of conduct for Commissioners and a personnel policy for employees, and other ordinances
that relate to conduct for elected officials. This is a revised ordinance, not a new one, but a revised one, and it’s pulling
all of these elements together into one document, where any citizen can see what is in place to govern the actions of
their elected officials.”

The adopted ordinance follows months of research and careful analysis by an Ethics Committee, which was made up of
staff members appointed by the Chairman. The group reviewed the ethics ordinance first proposed by the community
activist group, 3DCC, Inc. last July, and compared it to state law ethics, zoning procedure and election code provisions,
and ethics ordinances from other jurisdictions, as well as the County’s own ethics and code of conduct ordinances. The
resulting policy is substantive, clearer and stronger than its predecessor, while avoiding redundancies with state law
and being overly broad or intrusive.

The revised regulation provides greater clarity, and presents a clear process by which complaints alleging a violation of
the provisions of the ordinance can be filed and heard. It also increased the value of gifts which officials can accept to
$100, doubling the value allowed in the previous version of the ordinance, which had not been updated since 1985.

The seven-page edict also provides clear definitions of the terms used throughout the ordinance, a list of prohibitions,
and an entire section on conflicts of interest, including what constitutes a conflict of interest and how such conflicts
should be handled, as well as steps to ensure that even the appearance of a conflict of interest is avoided.

The Ethics Committee was comprised of Human Resources Director, Angie Bailey, Planning & Development Services
Division Director, Michael Harris, Communications Director, Julie Hoover-Ernst and County Attorney, LaTonya Wiley.

To review the newly adopted Code of Ethics in its entirety, please visit http://henrycounty-
ga.org/pdf/RevisedEthicsOrdinance-BOCApproved.pdf.

the Hack Line

Should there be more Transparency?

The largest portion of our property tax goes to the Henry County School Board. 23.628 mills out of 38.628, or 61.2%
according to my Henry County Assessors Office’s notification is levied by the HC BOE.

This board and the people in the system argumentatively do an outstanding job with the number of school children and
the amount spent on each child’s education.

However, they love their anonymity.

Scam Alert!

Right now there are a group of people out there scamming people through PayPal. I know someone personally that
they were trying to scam by buying a travel trailer. According to the scam they want you to send $500 via Western
Union to an address in North Carolina. These are the delivery people for the military according to the scammer who
says they are in the military overseas right now.

Pay Pal already is aware of these scammers and are working through the F.B.I. to find these people. These people are
working a very old con to steal money from people who don’t have it. Hopefully, they will be caught soon. Just be
very careful how you do business these days.

No boycotts yet over new immigration law

Athens Banner-Herald

Almost two weeks after Gov. Nathan Deal signed a controversial crackdown on
illegal immigrants, threats of boycotts have yet to materialize.

Civil rights groups and lawmakers who opposed the immigration law, House Bill
87, predicted that corporations, consumers and convention-goers would spurn
Georgia because of the backwards image it created.

So far, though, dire economic forecasts for Georgia have been mere sound and
fury.

Main Street McDonough The Atlanta CVB opposed the law out of concern that a boycott could hurt the
Program city's convention business.
5 Griffin Street McDonough, GA 30253
770-898-9868 The U.S. Human Rights Network announced earlier this month that it would not
www.mainstreetmcdonough.com/ hold its 600-person biannual convention in Atlanta this year.

But the Atlanta-based nonprofit had not actually booked any space, and no other
groups have canceled plans to hold events in Atlanta since, Atlanta CVB
spokeswoman Lauren Jarrell said.

Gov. Nathan Deal, who pledged on the campaign trail last year to enact an
Arizona-style immigration law, signed HB 87 on May 11.

It requires most employers to check whether new hires are eligible to work in the
United States and empowers local law enforcement agencies to ask suspects about
their immigration status.

State Rep. Keith Heard, D-Athens, was among those who voted against the law, in
part because he feared the state would appear anti-Hispanic to the national and
international business communities.

Reaction to the law also split the Hispanic community. The Georgia Association of
Latino Elected Officials rejected calls for a boycott on Friday.

GALEO remains opposed to the law, but a boycott would be counterproductive,

Executive Director Jerry Gonzalez said.

Sen. Bill Cowsert, R-Athens, had no qualms about the economic impact when he
www.ProvisionProperties.com voted in favor of the law, he said.

"The potential loss of revenue would be minuscule compared to the cost of

education, health care, prisons, the corrections system for 400,000-plus illegal
immigrants in this state," he said.

The Henry County Tea Party will have its regular meeting Thursday, May
26, from 7:00p.m.til -8:30p.m. Send inquiries to hctpp1776@gmail.com

The History of Stockbridge, GA

By Doctor

The first monthly meeting of a group of volunteers to put together the history of
Stockbridge, GA. took place on May 18, 2011. The Mayor Lee Stuart has brought
up this idea to citizens to try and bring together the history of the city of
Stockbridge. New City Administrator Ray Gibson, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cochran, Mr.
Alfred Britt III, and Dr. Mike Moon were in attendance to work on getting things
started.

The group will meet once a month and will be advertised and anyone with the
history of Stockbridge in mind is welcome to attend. Anyone with old photo's and
stories about the city are encouraged to send them to the mayor's office. The next
meeting will be June 15, 2011 at 11:30 AM.

Dr. Moon delivered a considerable amount of information about the cemeteries

and those people buried in them to the meeting for use by the city. Also, he
delivered a considerable amount of information about the Civil War in Stockbridge,
GA. There were also photo's of the old homes in the city that don't exist anymore
and an old map showing new Stockbridge and old Stockbridge together.

This historical endeavor will be to show our future generations who we are and
where we came from. Now this is a fun project.

Promoting the Veterans Wall of Honor

I have been talking to Julie on putting together a program to raise money for the
Veterans Wall of Honor.... as you can see she has put a very nice poster together
and a means to distribute it for coverage..... I have gotten back to her and told
her to go with it...

I am very proud and happy to have had Julie put the time into this and I hope you
are as well. She and I will be talking further about some ideas we both have to go
to the next level to raise money...
will fill you in as we go forward...

Everhart WINS GA GOP Chairmanship: “Connecting with People’s Heart”
By Dan L. Richardson

The Georgia GOP Convention convened in Macon, GA on May 13th – 14th, 2011 for what was an emotionally charred
event that spilled onto the convention floor from time-to-time within specific delegations from around the state.
However, Henry County residents would be proud of its county delegation for they came across as a tight controlled and
well oiled political machine.

Overall the convention was well attended with 71% of the elected delegates in actual attendance, which very well
maybe a new attendance record. The voting strength grew to approximately 1,800 once both the delegates and
alternates were seated. The seated delegates include none other than Republican Governor Nathan Deal who was
booed by the Georgia GOP as he publicly backed Tricia Pridemore for Chair of the GOP from the podium during the
conclusion of his speech before conventioneers.

As the election neared, the fully seated Henry County delegation – a small feat that should be accomplished at EVERY
convention appeared attentive as each candidate made their presentation with only those supporting Tricia bursting into
great excitement as their respective candidate spoke with one minor exception and that appeared to be a lone ranger
supporter of Sue Everhart the reigning GA GOP Chairwoman. From my vantage point in the balcony, he appeared to be
on an island alone as he waved his Everhart fan with great enthusiasm and looked around to see if others were standing
with him. Despite finding none in the Henry County delegation, he continued to stand strong and without diminishing
his excitement.

After the first round of voting, Fulton County GOP Chairman Shawn Hanley, a former U.S. Marine withdrew and Ron
Paul’s follower Carter Kessler of Athens was eliminated from the race thereby leaving Sue Everhart and Tricia Pridemore
to face each other in a second round of voting. Everhart won the second ballot and was elected for a third term as the
GOP Chairmanship by a vote of 946 to 755 for Pridemore. While some credit her re-election to her helping lead the
party to victory across multiple state offices last year and vow to keep the party independent, I personally chalk it up as
good and proven grass roots work. Although some might be surprised by my statement, I simply ask them to think
about… grass roots is more than getting out, knocking on doors, and making connections. The key and critical
component is making connections to people’s hearts and Sue does a great job with this. I think some would agree,
Sue’s media present will not woo others; however she does have the proven ability to connect and move people’s hearts
and if we are to reunite the party at ALL levels, most should enroll in the Sue Everhart’s school of “Connecting with
People’s Heart” for people are not as shallow as they lead others to believe… they know when they are being lied to,
being used, or being a party to a hidden agenda.

The lights at the convention have been shut off and it’s my hope that Monday will be a new day across Georgia where
we turn on the interpersonal skill to genuinely “Connecting with People’s Heart.”
