FIRST WORD May 28 & 29, 2011

First Baptist Church Naples

Picking the Right Pilot
It was a perfect landing…almost. The Piedmont Airlines pilot
guided his Boeing 737 jet down the runway without a hitch, but
at the wrong airport. This flight, which occurred a few years ago,
originated in Charlotte headed for Bush Field in Augusta, Georgia.
When the landing gear was about three feet off the ground, the
pilot realized that he was actually at Daniel Field. He apologized
to the passengers. Complimentary snacks were offered, but the
passengers only wanted to get to their original destination. Naturally, they had
serious doubts about their pilot.

To interpret what Jesus said in Matthew 7:13, 15 about a “wolf in pilot’s clothing”
and the necessity of traveling the right route to God, some roads lead to
destruction. The landing may seem easy at first, but sincerity and apologies will
be futile. The “pilot” may dress in navy blue and gold braid, but if he doesn’t steer
toward the true destination, then you are in trouble for eternity. Plane wrong!

What is true about salvation is also true about shepherding those important
passengers of our church plane – children and students. We are thrilled that Rev.
Kevin Taylor is in view of a call this weekend as our Associate Pastor with High
School students. Fortunately, he has many “flying hours” in youth ministry. He has
already “shepherded his flocks in the strength of the Lord” through Christ’s help
(Micah 5:4) in various churches. He and his wife, Sarah, greatly love teenagers
and are committed to spend time with them and grow them in the Lord. Our
Personnel Committee is very excited to present him to you for a secret ballot
vote. We are grateful for all of our student ministers over the years and for Nate
Dooley’s five years of service in this area before he moved to Nashville. We also
praise God for calling Justin and Alana Faircloth to minster to our Middle School
students.

Kevin is an effective communicator, organizer, and teacher, as well as a friend

of students and a role model for families. Sarah is heart-deep in his calling and
comes from a very strong Christian background, just like Kevin. God rebuked
the prophets who piloted the people falsely because God had not “sent them”
(Jeremiah 29:9). We believe that Kevin has a solid grasp of the Word of God and
senses God’s sending to our strategic county of over 17,000 high school students.

May we continue to pray for God’s anointing on Middle and High School
ministries. We want our students to not only take off from the runway of our
ministry into education, careers, ministries, and families, but also have a safe
landing in Heaven some day.

Bill & Ginny Hanson
In the Missions Kiosk this weekend
We, Bill & Ginny Hanson, are missionaries with the
Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE). We
started our mission’s ministry in 1999. Please visit us at
the Missions Kiosk this weekend.

The Need: As missionaries, we assist ABWE missionaries

with building projects globally. Presently we manage 63
building projects in 20 different countries. The need is great to have us come
alongside missionaries to assist with their building projects. Through this
process, the missionaries do not lose focus and valuable time that is needed
in their ministry. We have demonstrated through this building process that we
can save approximately 30-50 % on building costs, make sure donor’s funds are
used effectively, and the end result is people coming to know Christ.

Since 1999, God has led us to South Africa, West Africa, Ghana, Togo, The
Gambia, Philippines, Kosovo, Portugal, Bangladesh, Haiti, and various portions
of South America. God has used us effectively in this unique ministry to build
churches, schools, mission hospitals, church camps, and other Christian related
facilities globally. Our prayer as we serve God is that people will be saved or
grow closer to Christ through the projects that God has us involved in.

Thanks for praying for Bill’s recent trip to Kosovo. God answered our prayers
for new land to build a school in order to reach the kids & people in Kosovo for
Christ.

We have a short fall in our ministry/travel account and medical expenses of

around $3,500. If you have an interest in supporting us financially or praying
for us, please visit us at the Missions Kiosk this weekend, or contact us at billh@
abwe.org or 239-494-4883. Financial
gifts are fully tax deductable and
can also be sent through FBCN or
directly to the Association of Baptists
for World Evangelism, Attn: Mr. Glenn
Priddy, P.O. Box 8585, Harrisburg, PA
17105. Please mark on the check, or
a letter included with the check, that
this financial gift is for Bill & Ginny
Hanson, Account # 10000.

Worship! We will be having our “Game Show Review” as we
look at what we have learned so far in our series, “On the
Trail.” During Game Show Review, children have an opportunity to review what
they have already learned in a way that is sure to create a lot of laughs. Each
week at KidzTown, children have a great time singing, studying God’s Word, and
worshipping the Lord “Kid Style.” Parents, if your child has not yet experienced
the fun of a child-style worship experience, please don’t hesitate to bring him
to KidzTown. KidzTown is open to children in 1st through 4th grades and is
