RELEVANT PROJECTS:
Project Director, New York State Mathematics Resource Center, working with NYS t
o design a Statewide System of support that provides New York State with an inte
nsive, leveraged, and high quality system of services including professional dev
elopment that supports comprehensive and long-term changes in instructional prac
tices that are rooted in scientifically or evidence based research.
Senior Research Associate to assist the NY Department of Education as it impleme
nts a System to Support Low Performing Schools. Respond to the needs of NYSED th
rough writing documents on research and best practices for Statewide Systems of
Support. Provide technical assistance for the Statewide System of Support on as
needed bases.
Coordinated the research study of the Denver Pay for Performance Pilot: a multi-
year project to conduct a comprehensive study of the impact of the Pay for Perfo
rmance Pilot in the Denver Public Schools and provide technical assistance to he
lp assure a pilot of quality and integrity.
Project Director for AIM at Middle Grade Results, a project to conduct research
and develop a model of comprehensive school reform focused on the middle grades.
The project works with eight schools (urban, rural and suburban communities) to
build learning communities, develop collaborative leadership, integrate technol
ogy to support student learning, develop rigorous curriculum, instruction and as
sessment and create strong partnerships with parents and communities. Evidence o
f student performance based on multiple data sources and each school is involved
in on-going data collection.
A Principal Consultant at MCREL who provides training, technical assistance, con
sultation to schools and districts nationally in the areas of standards-based ed
ucation, school reform and restructuring as well as tiered instruction. Other ar
eas of professional development include; Supervision for Learning, Dimensions of
Learning and complex thinking skills. I am the co-author with Bob Marzano of th
e participant's and trainer's manual for Research Into Practice Series: Assessme
nt, Grading and Record Keeping in a Standards- Based Classroom.

s Project is a multi-year, multi-site systemic change project in partnership wit
h the Coalition of Essential Schools, Yale School Development Program, and Harva

organizations (EDC, Inc., Harvard Project Zero, Coalition of Essential Schools,
Yale School Development Program) funded by the Spencer, Rockefeller and MacArthu
r Foundations to study and write about school reform issues.
