Revision Guide

Dear parents,
The End of Year examination week will begin on Saturday the 11th
June 2011. Information on the exact dates for specific subjects will
follow shortly in a letter from the school.

English will be spread over two exam papers.

Comprehension
This subject tests the child’s comprehension of the text and stories,
including concepts such as the characters and how they feel.
Knowing where stories are set. He needs to know whether the story is
about fantasy or realism. Recognising order in stories, what happened
first or last in a story.
The children will then be asked questions that will show whether or not
they’ve understood the story. The questions will follow many different
formats to test the learners understanding of the story.

I.T.
Part of the I.T. exam will be theory based (i.e. answering questions) and
part will be practical (i.e. students will have to demonstrate that they
are able to perform certain tasks on the computer)
Please refer to any recent weekly planner to see which days your son
normally has I.T.
The first period of the week will be the theory and the second the
practical. Those students who are timetabled to have two I.T. lessons in
the same day will do the exam parts together.
Here are a summary of the core skills that the students should have
grasped.
The I.T. teachers will hand out some revision worksheets during the
week starting 28th May targeting some of these skills.
