The PMP Group nee ded a lower-cost manufacturing base and wanted to focus on its core expertise. Developed strategy focusing on paper machinery manufacturing in China. Erected a manufacturing plant in Changzhou, China. New plant resulted in $30M in contract s with Proctor & Gamble, International Paper, Georgia Pacific, Asia Pulp and Pap er and Visy Paper. Key player in sale of Chinese manufacturing plants. Held discussions with Xerium Technologies regarding purchase of existing plants in China. Managed due diligence along with other PMP Group officers. Negotiated purchase price for 2007 sale that was twelve times the amount the PMP Group had paid for the business in 2001. Ensured seamless post-acquisition transition. Led smooth transition from PMP Group ownership into corporate structure of Xerium. As the only non- Chinese person involved with the two manufacturing plants, served as critical liaison. Both plants outperformed projections by 6% following the integration. Dramatically reduced costs by globally sourcing equipment for new plant. Identified and purchased equipment for the Changzhou plant. Targeted Finnish and German suppliers operating joint ventures in China. Signed contracts that were 25% to 40% less than Western supply by the same companies. Installation and commissioning were included in the purchase price and there were no overseas transportation cost. Moved to solution selling technique, quadrupling sales. Trained Technical Sales and Product Support Team members to identify machine weaknesses and offer solutions, building customer loyalty and increasing hit rate among sales people from 17% to nearly 40% within six months. President, PMP Group - PMP Asia, 2001 to 2007. Profitably started up and operated two manufacturing plants in China. Developed business plans, expanded market share, explored additional markets and increased product offerings.
