Salinas Valley Community Outreach Coordinator

Plasco Energy Group is proposing to build a world leading waste conversion facility in the Salinas Valley and has been
selected after a three-year, worldwide competition by the Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority to proceed with an
environmental review under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The facility would provide 37 green collar
employment opportunities and be a showcase for the Valley of environmentally sound waste management and clean
energy production.

Meridian Pacific is seeking a dynamic individual who can join our team part-time for community outreach services. This
individual is Spanish bilingual, has a fluent understanding of local community issues and is committed to listening to the
concerns of the community and will create relationships built on facts and trust. This person will help our team build
visibility and awareness of a Plasco Solution for the Johnson Canyon Landfill and work to help the communities in the
Salinas Valley understand Plasco’s proposed project.

The Challenge
• Be able to describe Plasco Energy Group, their technology and the potential impact of a Plasco Solution on the
Salinas Valley to various groups and community members within the Valley with an emphasis on Spanish
speaking members of the community
• Work with members of the Plasco team to make sure that no community member’s question or concern goes
unanswered and unaddressed
• Brainstorm and develop communication methods to reach community members
• Participate in events including information booths, community meetings, town halls etc.
• Work on special projects as assigned

Preferred background and skill set:

• Associates or Bachelors Degree in communications, public relations or other related field or a combination of
equivalent experience
• 3-5 years related experience with community involvement, public relations or other related fields
• Bilingual in Spanish and English
• Good understanding of local community issues in Gonzales and the Salinas Valley
• Good organizational skills, detail oriented and the ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Ability to tailor messages to different audiences
• Ability make presentations to different sized groups including town halls, round tables and individuals
• Has access to reliable transportation
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook as well as social media tools such as
Facebook and Twitter
• Willing to work 15 – 20 hours a week with a possibility of growing to fulltime in the future
• Compensation based on experience.
