* Created and built the Safety, Security, Risk Management, and Loss Control depa
rtments for a multi-unit retail operation.
* Built and developed the Safety, Security, Risk Management, and Loss Control fu
nctions for a multi-unit retail operation, a consulting agency, and a resort pro
perty.
* Built, trained, and developed the security, loss control and safety staff (fro
m 28 to 145 employees) in a multi-unit retail operation. This included the corpo
rate office, distribution center, and stores.
* Provided leadership, advice, and strategic planning for Safety, Risk Managemen
t, and Loss Control functions in retail, manufacturing, hospitality, and industr
ial environments.
* Provided stable management and leadership during a critical change in the enti
re upper management staff within one of our divisions.
* Was successful in three OSHA audits. No serious infractions found and negotiat
ed for lesser fines.
* Assisted in managing the closure of two multi-unit divisions.

teams through a severe crisis (the company being sold).
* Rollout of Corporate Safety Manual to over 4000 employees throughout the U.S.

EXPERIENCE

Direct report to the Assistant General Manager. Helped with the development of t
he Safety, Security, and Risk Management department which included policy develo
pment, establishing goals, training and awareness programs, risk assessments, si
te-specific training, safety compliance (OSHA, NFPA Life Safety, FEMA, GEMA, Hom
eland Security, State, and County), staff management, cash control, investigatio
ns, crowd control, traffic control, marshalling, and General Liability claims.
Major Achievements include: Development of approximately 80 Best Practices, deve
loped department specific safety training program, developed departmental traini
ng manual to encompass all areas of operation, and assist with the development o
f a Disaster Preparedness and Business Continuity Plan.

fety, Risk Management, and Loss Control Department which included policy develop

entation, inventory and cash control, contingency planning, fleet safety, Worker
s Comp. and General Liability claims,
Major Achievements include: Rollout of Corporate Safety manual company wide (thr
oughout U.S. and to approximately 4000 employees), first year reduction of the t
otal dollar amount of Workers Comp claims by 9%, developed site-specific safety
training for mall, manufacturing, industrial, public transit, medical, fleet, an
d airport operations. Also served on Corporate Safety Council.

y, Loss Control, and Risk Management Department which included policy developmen
t, establish goals, strategic planning, training
and awareness programs, risk assessment surveys, liability claims, sampling and
testing, safety compliance (OSHA, EPA, DOT, State, and Local), fleet safety, pro
ject management, inventory and cash control, physical security, environmental re
gulations, health and hygiene programs, accident trend analysis, safety and loss
control investigations, budgets, staff management, new employee orientation, an
d contingency planning.
Major Achievements include: Reducing departmental turnover from 340% to 35%; ser
ved on Executive and Safety Committees; initiated cross-training programs due to
high initial turnover; developed safety manual for each department; developed b
lood borne pathogen exposure plan; assisted Human Resources Department establish
compliance with filing employee medical records; initiated monthly departmental
safety training standards; reduced the average cost of a workers compensation c
laim by 15%; and reduced the average cost of a general liability claim by 40%.
