PROFESSIONAL (LinkedIn) RECOMMENDATIONS
From: Archie (Archana) Chaudhry, Ph.D., Clinical Program Manager at Asterand, I
nc.
Email: archana.chaudhry@asterand.com
Dated: January 3, 2010
Details of the Recommendation: I am delighted to provide a reference for Steve
Whetzel. I interacted with Steve during my tenure at Pfizer where Steve was a s
enior scientist in Central Nervous System (CNS) Biology. Steve was an extremely
valuable member of an ADHD drug discovery team on which I served as the biology
project leader. Steve is an excellent neuroscientist and was instrumental in d
esigning and executing key experiments that helped advance the project to import
ant milestones and led to the identification of two lead compounds. His efforts
also helped us with human dose projection strategies. Steve worked well under p
ressure and always met deadlines. Steve is a team player and used to interactin
g with personnel from different lines and departments in a matrix environment.
Apart from the above project, Steve helped teams advance other CNS drug discover
y projects by coordinating research activities across multiple groups such as bi
ology, chemistry, pharmacodynamics and safety. He is well liked by his peers an
d goes the extra mile to help teams achieve their goals. In addition, Steve has
excellent verbal, written and presentation skills. Apart from his laboratory sk
ills, Steve also helped the CNS department with numerous IT-related initiatives
such as implementation of data automation, electronic notebook and numerous comp
uter modernization projects. In summary, Steve would be a valuable asset to any
organization.

Details of the Recommendation: I have had the privilege of knowing Steve for man
y years at Pfizer/Parke-Davis. He has a very strong work ethic and is very detai
l oriented. He has great knowledge of the science, technical details of the equi
pment, and data analysis. He also has tremendous computer expertise. I strongly
recommend him with no reservations.

Details of the Recommendation: Steven is a great colleague. He is very hard work
ing, unusually conscientious, and just a plain nice guy. For years, he has run a
technically challenging brain monoamine analysis lab that has made many solid c
ontributions to drug discovery. He also is very accomplished at computer program
ming, maintenance and security. He has been quite flexible in the most recent co
uple of years, changing job goals with corporate reorganization. Finally, he is
a truly thoughtful person, who is quick to be generous with time or other resour
ces to help others. I couldn't recommend him for future jobs more strongly.

Details of the Recommendation: I worked with Steve for about 7 years at Pfizer.
He is an amazing scientist, and a great person who is fun to work with. His know
ledge was the backbone of the research we did in our lab, and he was always will
ing to teach others. I truly miss working with him.

Details of the Recommendation: Steven is a hardworking, experienced and talented
scientist and technologist who is constantly looking to bring new ideas to the
table to develop. He thrives in a team environment and is passionate about his s
cience. He enjoys discussing his data and seeking input from others to test out
his thinking or improve the experimental plan. Steve is detail oriented and can
be relied upon to follow through on commitments - a pleasure to work with.

Details of the Recommendation: Steve and I were colleagues in the neuroscience d
epartment at Pfizer for 10 years. Steve is an excellent scientist, IT expert and
team player. I worked on several projects with Steve and his scientific contrib
utions were always invaluable. Even more invaluable was Steve's IT expertise. St
eve was the go-to guy in the department for all IT issues. His knowledge of our
desktop, bench-top, and company specific systems and applications was superior t
o that of the official company IT support. Steve's IT support was an indispensab
le resource.
From: Len Cooke, Former Research Scientist, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals

Date: March 25, 2010
Details of the Recommendation: Steve and I worked together for approximately 20
years at Warner Lambert / Pfizer. We shared ideas on several different projects
and his input was invaluable. However, it was always Steve's IT experience that
the entire department most appreciated. We were lucky to have someone with his k
nowledge at our fingertips to solve IT problems. Instead of waiting, what could
be days for someone in the IT group to work with us, Steve was there when needed
, often with better solutions than those in the IT group. I will always be grate
ful he would drop what he was doing to make my job easier.
From: Robert Durham, Former Senior Principal Scientist (Immediate Supervisor) at
Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.
Email: durham420@sbcglobal.net
Date: April 2, 2010
Details of the Recommendation: Steven is a thoughtful and detail oriented scient
ist who produces very high quality work and often offers creative solutions to p
roblems he encounters. During my time as his supervisor in the Neuroscience depa
rtment at Pfizer Steven made many significant contributions. He is particularly
adept at visual basic and data manipulation using Excel macros. In one particula
r instance he was able to write a data reduction protocol using Microsoft Excel
that largely automated data import and analysis associated with a complex behavi
oral assay. This solution dramatically reduced the time spent on manual data inp
ut and decreased the chance for errors. I hold Steven in very high regard and gi
ve him my highest recommendation for any future endeavors.
From: Noel Ramsey, Sr. Assoc. Sci., LVT, LATG, Pfizer (colleague, worked directl

Details of the Recommendation: Steve has many fine qualities! What I truly appre
ciated about Steve was that, "He was always there". Whenever I needed assistance
with an experiment, a computer crisis or statistical analysis, Steve was always
there to lend a hand. You can't ask for a more loyal employee, colleague, and f
riend. He is an excellent scientist and can accomplish a great deal of work in a
short period of time! He would be an excellent addition to any drug discovery t
eam!
From: Lawrence Fitzgerald (Senior to and indirectly supervised Senior Scientist
at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.)
Email: lwfitzge@gmail.com
Date: April 20, 2010
Details of the Recommendation: Steve is a talented and dedicated neurochemist th
at delivered high quality and timely data to neuroscience discovery project team
s. I could always count on Steve to do what was necessary to support my teams an
d help drive their success. Steve would be a great asset to any drug discovery o
r biotechnology team requiring strong, high energy analytic capabilities.
From: Steven Roberds (Associate Research Fellow at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.)
Email: steven.l.roberds@pfizer.com
Date: May 20, 2010
Details of the Recommendation: "Steve is a highly skilled in vivo neuroscientist
who really knows his way around the brain. I worked with Steve nearly three yea
rs on multiple projects, and his expertise in neurophysiology, neuropharmacology
, and neuroanatomy were critical for our team. He enjoys and is good at learning
new technologies from others or from the literature. Steve has high standards f
or quality of experimental execution, including his own experiments. You can tru
st that Steve will design and execute a rigorous study and that the data are of
the highest quality."
