PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
B.Braun Medical Inc., Irvine, CA 2008-Present
Industrial & Systems Engineering Manager Designed facility layout incorporating the product lines of the future. Instea d of focusing on just the short term solutions, a vision for the long term devel opment plan was strategically established. Also, 1.5 more production lines are being planned for the future than previously planned. Successfully led team in analyzing various aspects of a major business unit (40 0M components annually) including process order variance, capacity planning, mac hine productivity, labor utilization, scrap, and downtime. Further utilized the data to strategically identify and prioritize Lean initiatives and continuous i mprovement projects. Established a standards review process for Bill of Materials (BOM), work center s, and routers within SAP. Identified the root causes of variance for material cost and overhead allocatio n resulting in a significant reduction. Coordinated the schedule and transition plan from rail car delivery to truck tr ansportation by leading a cross-functional team including Purchasing, Manufactur ing, Quality Control (Incoming), and Quality Assurance (Validation). Prior to t he transition, developed analysis of bulk material delivery. Building and renovating of offices and work-stations and movement of over 150 e mployees at a cost of over $500k over nine months. Scheduled training and personally trained personnel on over 50 classes for the Engineering Systems Group to become 100% compliant from 20% in ISO Train. Hines Horticulture Inc., Irvine, CA 2000-2007 Operational Excellence Manager Revolutionized material handling and internal logistics at 8 sites countrywide resulting in a direct increase of productivity ranging from 25% to over 100% dep ending on the process. Reduced labor requirements in some processes by more than 50% which also result ed in a reduction of worker injury and overall training. Designed and implemented new systems incorporating new machinery and processes as a project manager, e.g. Plant Processing System, Automated Propagation Plug Sorting System. Originated and justified over $1M in operating leases for process equipment due to budget constraints resulting in a return of investment of over 30%. Improved efficiency, productivity and throughput by incorporating tools such as Lean Manufacturing, time studies, bottleneck analysis, line balancing, work sta tion design, cost reduction, Kaizen, JIT, Lean Six Sigma, Quality/ISO processes, EHS principles, TPM, and visual aids. Developed methods and standard operating procedures (SOP) for operations and sy stems, e.g. Propagation Cutting Line.
Noahs Ark Enterprises, Philippines 1997-1999
Consultant/Business Manager Focused on business strategy and innovation to improve efficiency, productivity and throughput by incorporating tools such as time studies, bottleneck analysis , line balancing, work station design, cost reduction, Kaizen, JIT, Six Sigma, T PM, and visual aids. Utilized supply chain management to streamline methods and procedures for oper ations and systems to reduce the cost of labor, machinery, and supplies. Guardian Automotive Moulding, Covington, GA 1991-1996 Senior Industrial Engineer Reduced defective parts by creating modules that decreased material handling an d work-in-process (WIP) inventory. Strong understanding and application in a me talworking environment including CNC, PLC, robotics, and automation. Minimized non-value added time activities such as transportation, inspection, r ework, delays, storage, and record keeping. Trained 200+ employees in Cellular Manufacturing, Product Improvement Teams (P. I.T), Ergonomics, and Self-Directed Team classes. Member of cross-functional team, which resulted in the Company being awarded Fo rds highest honor, the Total Quality Excellence Award (TQE). Only 28 companies have ever been awarded this award. Member of integral team, which resulted in the Company achieving Chryslers high est honor, the Platinum Pentastar Award. One of only 14 companies worldwide to win the award 2 two years in a row. Developed and maintained cost analyses for over 100 part numbers. Implemented visual control boards to measure continuous improvements in quality and productivity. Chromalox - Emerson Electric, Vernon, AL 1989-1990 Industrial Engineer Maintained the JDE branch items, bill of materials, and routings. Created and maintained facility layouts using AutoCAD ranging from 100,000 sq. ft. to 500,000 sq. ft. Great Dane Trailers, Savannah, GA 1985-1988 Industrial Engineer (Co-op) Developed databases for organizing 13 years of computer programs. Improved automated machine systems by 20% by creating changes to the programmab le logic controller (PLC).
