is Matt Markley. I am 38 years old, married, and father to two beautiful child
ren. My son Ayden just turned 7 and started 2nd grade. My daughter Ashlyn just
turned 5 and started kindergarten.
I have to be honest and say the last year has been very rough for us as it has
been for many Americans. We went from owning and running 3 very successful stor
es, to losing our businesses, home, car, boat, camper, etc. to the recession in
August of 2009. We then chose to move away from Las Vegas, NV, to Denver, CO, i
n hopes to find work. Unfortunately we have yet to find work here. My wife and
I made the decision two weeks ago to relocate to Southern California where I am
originally from and to be closer to family. We have been extremely fortunate t
o keep a roof over our head and food in our bellies with the support of our fami
ly. If it wasn't for them, we would most likely be homeless. It's amazing to t
hink how such an economic situation can strip a successful middle class family o
f everything they own and force them to start over. I am not bitter about losin
g my possessions as they are only possessions, but I am grateful for my beautifu
l, healthy family.

I am looking for a career with your company. I do not send my resume off to ev
ery open position, but only select those in which I can see myself still working
for that company 30 years from now. I might not have the most impressive resum
e you've seen, but that doesn't make be any less qualified to bring value to you

food industry. Past jobs have included owning a smoothie store, managing a Domi

and repair for 5 years, and a sales route manager for Schwan's Foods. I was in
the top 1% of sales associates for Circuit City while in college and worked for

s to work under pressure and meet sales goals. As a small business owner, I ra
n the day to day operations for all 3 of my stores and successfully worked with
my key suppliers and vendors. I was always looking for a way to maximize profit
s and minimize costs. I hired and trained new employees and maintained all the
booking which included paying taxes, company profit and loss statements, and pay
roll. All of these achievements are critical to firms, such as yours, that mu
